‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Visitation’

We come to one of my favourite stories in Season 19 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. It’s time for ‘The Visitation’, a four-part story by Eric Saward, where Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa, Matthew Waterhouse as Adric and Janet Fielding as Tegan visit England in the year 1666. They meet Michael Robbins (of ‘On the Buses’ fame) as Richard Mace, and they work together to thwart the evil plans of the reptile-like Terileptils, who have come to cause trouble with the Great Plague and the Great Fire of London. ‘The Visitation’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray or Britbox.

I’ve revisited ‘The Visitation’, one of my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stories from the Peter Davison era, on DVD recently. In revisiting the story, I also re-watched the 45-minute making-of documentary of ‘The Visitation’ called ‘Grim Tales’, featuring Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton, Janet Fielding and Mark Strickson. This exciting special feature is included on the 2-disc Special Edition DVD of ‘The Visitation’.
