‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘The Tenth Planet’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the final TV story of the William Hartnell/First Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ and it’s the first one to feature the Cybermen. ‘The Tenth Planet’ is a four-part adventure that takes place in the South Pole in 1986. The Cybermen are from the planet Mondas, Earth’s long lost twin planet. The fourth episode of ‘The Tenth Planet’ has been animated, whilst the regeneration scene between William Hartnell into Patrick Troughton is still intact. You can watch ‘The Tenth Planet’ either on DVD or via Britbox. Continue reading

For today’s instalment of the 2022-23 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season, we’re checking out the six ‘Doctor Who’ annual stories featured in the ‘Time Wake & Other Stories’ audio collection. I’ve recently listened to the stories featured in ‘Time Wake & Other Stories’ via download on Audible. As promised, here’s my updated review on the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘The Abominable Snowmen’. This updated review is based on the latest in a line of mostly missing black-and-white ‘Doctor Who’ TV stories from the 1960s that have been animated on DVD and Blu-ray for today. The story stars Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor, Frazer Hines as Jamie and Deborah Watling as Victoria. Continue reading

Season 22 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Colin Baker on Blu-ray #4

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time to talk about my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story from the Colin Baker era. It was also the first story for me to experience Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri. We continue our look into Season 22 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with ‘The Two Doctors’, a multi-Doctor story featuring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor. There’s also Frazer Hines as Jamie who accompanies Patrick Troughton’s Doctor as well as Nicola Bryant as Peri who accompanies Colin Baker’s Doctor. Continue reading

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The Divergent Wordsmiths have done it again! 🙂 They’ve released another brand-new ‘Doctor Who’ anthology of short stories called ‘The Paul Spragg ReCollections, Volume 2′, which I’m pretty excited about. This is to honour the memory of our dear Paul Spragg, the producer’s assistant at Big Finish who sadly passed away in May 2014. Continue reading

As we’re still beginning the New Year of 2022, let me share with you a ‘Doctor Who’ review I’ve done on the Second Doctor novel called ‘The Roundheads’ by Mark Gatiss. I purchased the 8-disc audiobook CD set of ‘The Roundheads’ read by Anneke Wills when I attended the ‘Bedford Who Charity Con’ back in October 2021. Continue reading
