Axos is calling Earth, as we venture into the third story of Season 8 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series – ‘The Claws of Axos’. This four-part story is the first to be written by Bob Baker and Dave Martin. Once again, Jon Pertwee stars as the Third Doctor with Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Richard Franklin as Mike Yates and John Levene as Sergeant Benton. As well as Axos, this story also features Roger Delgado back again as the Master in ‘Doctor Who’. ‘The Claws of Axos’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.

Benton tackle the menaces of the Axons and the Master in this one.

For Christmas 2020, I gave my Mum a 3-disc DVD set of an ‘Agatha Christie Collection featuring Peter Ustinov’ in his ‘classic role’ as Hercule Poirot. For my Dad, I gave him a Blu-ray edition of 2016’s ‘Pete’s Dragon’. We’ve enjoyed watching these films very much over the Christmas holidays.

For Christmas 2018, I gave my Mum a Blu-ray edition of ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’. I also gave her a DVD of the 1975 BBC TV adaptation of ‘North & South’, starring Patrick Stewart and Rosalind Shanks. My parents and I enjoyed this interesting adaptation of the original novel by Elisabeth Gaskell.
