It’s time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’, as we take a look at the 20th anniversary special called ‘The Five Doctors’ by Terrance Dicks. ‘The Five Doctors’ stars Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, William Hartnell and Richard Hurndall as the First Doctor, Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor, Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, and Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor. There’s also Janet Fielding as Tegan, Mark Strickson as Turlough, Carole Ann Ford as Susan, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, Lalla Ward as Romana and more. I highly recommend watching the 101-minute Special Edition version of ‘The Five Doctors’, as that has more scenes and CGI effects in it. You can check out the Special Edition version on Disc 2 of the 25th Anniversary 2-disc DVD edition of ‘The Five Doctors’. There’s also the original 90-minute TV version of the story, which can be checked out on DVD and Britbox.

It’s time to begin the second season of Peter Davison’s era as the Fifth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’ as well as the season celebrating the 20th anniversary of the TV show – Season 20. We begin with ‘Arc of Infinity’, a four-part story by Johnny Byrne where Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor and Sarah Sutton as Nyssa end up on Gallifrey. They contend with the return of Omega from ‘The Three Doctors’ and soon head for Amsterdam on Earth where they reunite with Janet Fielding as Tegan. This story also features Colin Baker (before he became the Sixth Doctor) as Commander Maxil, the head of Time Lord security on Gallifrey. ‘Arc of Infinity’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox.

‘A Sparkle of Doctors: Volume 1’ is out! 🙂 The Divergent Wordsmiths have released their latest ‘Doctor Who’ anthology of short stories to celebrate 60 years of the TV show. ‘A Sparkle of Doctors: Volume 2’ will be released sometime soon later this year, but for now, I’m glad that Volume 1 is out.

And here we are on the season finale of Season 15 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Louise Jameson as Leela and K-9, voiced by John Leeson. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure is a six-part story by ‘David Agnew’ (a.k.a. Anthony Read and Graham Williams). It sees the Doctor returning to Gallifrey to become the new Time Lord president. It introduces the Vardans as aliens and it features the return of the potato-headed Sontarans. It also features the departure of regular cast member Louise Jameson as Leela as well as K-9 Mark I. ‘The Invasion of Time’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox.

The third story of Season 14 in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series and Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor is travelling solo this time. It’s time for ‘The Deadly Assassin’, a four-part story by Robert Holmes where the Doctor returns to Gallifrey and faces the Master again. This story is notable for reshaping the Time Lords as we know them today. Peter Pratt plays the Master and there’s Bernard Horsfall as Chancellor Goth. ‘The Deadly Assassin’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.

This is one of my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stories from the Tom Baker era and it was the first Fourth Doctor TV story I checked out on DVD in 2006. It’s a well-loved classic. This is ‘Genesis of the Daleks’, a six-part story starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith and Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan. As well as the Daleks, this story also introduces us to their creator Davros, played by Michael Wisher. ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.

The 10th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’! 🙂 Today, we take a look at ‘The Three Doctors’, the first ‘Doctor Who’ story to feature more than one Doctor. As well as Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, we have the return of Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor and William Hartnell as the First Doctor. There’s also Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier and John Levene as Sergeant Benton. The four-part story also features Stephen Thorne as Omega. ‘The Three Doctors’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.

For a while, we’ve had the Third Doctor being exiled to Earth by the Time Lords in ‘Doctor Who’. Here, in this fourth story of Season 8 of the classic TV series called ‘Colony In Space’, Jon Pertwee as the Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant go off on an adventure away from Earth, as they visit the planet Uxarieus where a human colony is being threatened by the Interplanetary Mining Corporation (IMC). Roger Delgado as the Master is involved too. A young Helen Worth (who would later play Gail Platt in ‘Coronation Street’) is also in this ‘Doctor Who’ story. 🙂 This six-part adventure can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.
