‘Dawn of the Dwaxi’, Part Two, Chapter 8

8. “Aqua Systems Revival”

SCENE #75 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Later on in Churchwood Street, the Doctor arrives as Nyssa tends to Billy on a street bench. A few passers-by notice Billy whilst he’s being tended to Nyssa and express concern.

DOCTOR
(calls) “Nyssa: Billy!”

NYSSA
“Here, Doctor. It’s good to see you.”

DOCTOR
(concerned) “I heard what just happened.” (to Billy) “Billy, are you alright?”

BILLY
“I’m fine, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Are you sure?”

BILLY
(reassuringly) “Yes. A bit achy, but I’ll be alright.”

NYSSA
“It was more than aches, Billy. Those boys were trying to kill you!”

DOCTOR
(disturbed) “Boys?”

BILLY
“Teddy boys, Doctor. I thought they just play pranks on you. But this lot seemed to step it up a notch.”

DOCTOR
“Did you recognise them, Billy? Do you know why they attacked you?”

BILLY
“No. I’ve never met them before or know why they attacked me.”

NYSSA
(puzzled) “Where’s Sean, Doctor? Did he fetch you?”

DOCTOR
“Oh yes he did. Sean did. He thought I was a paramedic, so he sent me to find you two. He was behind me a moment ago, but now he’s gone.”

NYSSA
“Gone?”

BILLY
“Perhaps he went back home. To Alexandra.”

Just then, Fred turns up.

FRED
(concerned) “Billy? Billy, is that you?”

BILLY
(surprised) “Dad! You’re here!”

FRED
(relieved) “Billy, thank goodness you’re here. Sean told me what happened. That you were thrashed by some hooligans.”

NYSSA
(to Fred) “Sean? He told you about Billy?”

FRED
“Of course he did. How else?”

BILLY
(enthused) “Nyssa saved my life, Dad. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for her interfering with those mugs.”

FRED
(staggered) “Really?” (to Nyssa) “Oh well um…thank you, Nyssa. I’m much obliged to you.”

NYSSA
“My pleasure, Mr. Walker.”

FRED
(concerned; to Billy) “Why did those boys beat you up, Billy. You didn’t do anything to upset them, did you?”

BILLY
“No, Dad. I’ve really no idea why they wanted to beat me up like that.”

FRED
“Your mum would be fretting if she knew about this.”

BILLY
(gradually panics) “Oh no! Please don’t tell Mum about this, Dad.”

DOCTOR
(interrupts) “Is that the local newspaper you have there, Mr. Walker?”

FRED
“I beg your pardon?” (realises) “Oh yes, yes. Of course. Here, have a look.”

The Doctor takes the newspaper from Fred, unfolds it and begins to read it. After reading the headlines, the Doctor folds up the newspaper.

NYSSA
“What is it, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
(fascinated) “Well, well, well.” (Pause) “This headline here. It gives the latest update on the Aqua Systems Revival project. Speculation about its progress.”

NYSSA
(intrigued) “Sounds fascinating.”

DOCTOR
“Yes. Constable Wyatt mentioned to me about the project a while back. I never considered it thoroughly at the time.”

BILLY
(puzzled) “And what’s…Aqua System Revival?”

FRED
“Aqua Systems Revival, Billy. That’s what I do. I work at one of its plants.”

DOCTOR
(intrigued) “Really, Mr. Walker?”

FRED
“Yes. Been working there for two months now.”

BILLY
“I thought you were a postman, Dad.”

FRED
“Oh I got offered this job when it was announced on the wireless and on the telly. Everyone knows about it, Billy.”

BILLY
“Well it’s something I’ve never heard of.”

FRED
“Well of course you wouldn’t know about it since it was set up last year. And It was while you were away [and…]”

Fred stops mid-sentence. A moment of tense silence ensues.

NYSSA
(changes subject) “What’s the project about, Mr. Walker?”

FRED
“Oh it’s a brilliant idea. It’s a project that hopes to revolutionise the way we drink water and have water supplies worldwide. From washing our clothes to swimming in a pool.”

DOCTOR
“You said you work at one of the plants, Mr. Walker.”

FRED
“Yes. In the Brecon Beacons. The others are spread out across the world.”

DOCTOR
“You’re on your way there? To work?”

FRED
“Of course. I needed to check up on Billy first, but…”

DOCTOR
“Would you mind if I tagged along, Mr. Walker? I’m very interested in this Aqua Systems Revival project you’re working for.”

FRED
“Of course, Doctor. You’re welcome to join me.”

DOCTOR
“Thank you, Mr. Walker. You’re very kind.”

FRED
“But I’ll have to take Billy back home first.”

NYSSA
“I’ll take him back home, Mr. Walker.”

FRED
“You will?”

BILLY
“You will, Nyssa?”

NYSSA
(to Fred) “Yes. I’ll take Billy back home to look after him with his mum.” (to Billy) “Your dad’s right, Billy. You can’t sit on the bench all day.”

BILLY
(gradually) “Alright. If you say so.”

DOCTOR
“Splendid!” (to Fred) “Now, Mr. Walker. Let’s head off to your place of work, shall we?”

FRED
(to Doctor) “Yes, Doctor.” (realises; to Billy) “Oh, Billy. After I come back from work, your mum and I would like to talk to you about you and Nyssa. If that’s alright.”

BILLY
“Yes, Dad. That’s fine by me.”

NYSSA
(quietly; to Doctor) “Doctor? We haven’t been able to discover much regarding John Graham’s death…”

DOCTOR
(interjects; to Nyssa) “Later, Nyssa. Tell me about it later.” (to Fred) “Come on, Mr. Walker. Let’s go!”

FRED
(to Billy; Nyssa) “See you later, Billy. Goodbye, Nyssa dear.”

NYSSA
“Thank you, Mr. Walker.”

BILLY
“Yeah thanks, Dad.”

With that, Fred leads the way as he and the Doctor head for the Aqua Systems Revival project plant in the Brecon Beacons. Meanwhile, Nyssa takes Billy home.

NYSSA
“Come on, Billy. Lean on me. Let’s get you back home, shall we?”

SCENE #76 – INT – LIVING ROOM, GLASS & HOUND – DAY, MORNING
At the Glass & Hound pub, Sean enters the living room. He finds Lizzy playing with her dolls.

SEAN
(cheerfully) “Oh. What have we here?”

LIZZY
“Hi Sean.”

SEAN
(cheerfully) “Hello Lizzy. Did your mum bring you here?”

LIZZY
“No. Daddy’s taking me to school. He forgot something and asked Alexandra to look after me.”

SEAN
“Did he now? And where’s Alexandra?”

LIZZY
(sadly) “She’s serving.”

SEAN
“Ah well. Never mind. I’ll look after you.”

Sean then makes his way into the kitchen.

SEAN
“Fancy a lemonade, Lizzy? Or fruit juice?”

LIZZY
(excitedly) “Oh yes please. I’ll have lemonade please.”

SEAN
“Right then. One lemonade coming up.”

As Lizzy continues playing with her dolls, Sean pours out a bottle of lemonade into a glass. He also drugs Lizzy’s lemonade with a Yentias tablet.

SCENE #77 – INT – CENTRAL HALL, ASR PLANT – DAY, MORNING
In the Brecon Beacons, the Doctor is with Fred Walker at the Aqua Systems Revival plant. The Doctor looks around the place, taking in his surroundings.

DOCTOR
(amazed) “And you place all of this in the centre of the Brecon Beacons?”

FRED
“It’s incredible, isn’t it? The people who built this place have housed a whole world in here.”

DOCTOR
“Massive pipe work; huge generators.; turbines and shafts to drain the water.” (Pause) “Bigger on the inside to coin a phrase.”

FRED
“Absolutely. No-one would notice this place if they flew aeroplanes or rockets high above the sky to take a view.”

DOCTOR
“What’s your role in this, Mr. Walker? What exactly do you do here?”

FRED
“Oh, I help out with administration. I log records, keep notes of packages, send invoices to requests from other countries regarding orders of equipment and certain materials.”

DOCTOR
“How far does this project cover worldwide, Mr. Walker?”

FRED
“Please call me Fred, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Even better! Fred, how far does this project cover?”

FRED
(gradually) “Well, the ASR project covers many countries. It connects many stations situated in Wales, England, Scotland, North America, South America, India, Asia, Africa…”

DOCTOR
(interrupts) “What’s the project’s mission statement then? You probably mentioned it but I just want to be sure.”

FRED
“You what?” (realises) “Oh. To revive and revitalise the water supply around the world. To convert flowing water into lakes, rivers, seas and oceans. To eradicate the various diseases that have polluted these water bodies. A massive breakthrough in scientific research and engineering, according to the news.”

DOCTOR
“News reports can often be dodgy, Fred. You shouldn’t rely on them too much.” (Pause) “Do you know your bosses, Fred? The people that run this project.”

FRED
(gradually) “No, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“No? Not at all?”

FRED
“Not to my knowledge.”

DOCTOR
“Has anyone else seen them? Are there other people who work in this place that know of your bosses, Fred?”

FRED
“No-one’s ever seen them, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“No-one?”

FRED
“Our bosses keep themselves to themselves. They never come here to inspect us. Or announce that we work for them. It’s all puzzling I’ll admit. But everybody seems to be okay with it.”

DOCTOR
“But surely they have names. Every person with a brand operation must be called somebody.”

FRED
“The news readers say that these people like to remain private and be secretive. Don’t understand it myself, Doctor. I know pretty well that workers ought to know who they’re working for. But no-one seems to be bothered.”

DOCTOR
“How intriguing.”

SCENE #78 – INT – LIVING ROOM, GLASS & HOUND – DAY, MORNING
Back in the living room of the Glass & Hound pub, Alexandra enters after she finishes serving at the bar.

ALEXANDRA
(calls) “Lizzy? Lizzy, are you still here?”

SEAN
“I’m looking after her, Alex.”

ALEXANDRA
(startled) “Sean? What are you doing here? Apart from looking after my sister.”

SEAN
“I’m just dropping off those cans of lager I asked you for in the kitchen. Then I’m off to the Times to check on my dad.”

ALEXANDRA
“Well you’re spoiling my space. Get out of the way!”

SEAN
“Don’t I get a kiss and a hello?”

As they talk, Lizzy becomes ill. She gropes and gasps for breath, as she collapses to the floor. Alexandra and Sean look to see Lizzy in her condition.

ALEXANDRA
(concerned) “Lizzy? Lizzy, are you alright? You’re not ill, are you?”

Alexandra makes her way over to get on her hands and knees to check Lizzy who’s now unconscious. Alexandra tries to rouse Lizzy by gently shaking her.

ALEXANDRA
(panics) “Lizzy?! Lizzy, wake up!”

Alexandra tries shaking Lizzy again but harder. It’s no use as Lizzy is still unconscious.

ALEXANDRA
(panics; impatiently) “Lizzy?! Lizzy!!!”

SEAN
“She’s fainted. She must be really ill!”

ALEXANDRA
(panics; to Sean) “Don’t stand there gawping and make idle commentary. Get an ambulance quickly!”

SEAN
“Right!”

Sean rushes over to the phone, whilst Alexandra keeps on trying to rouse Lizzy out of her unconscious state.

ALEXANDRA
(panics) “Lizzy?! Lizzy, wake up! Please wake up! Lizzy!!!”

But Alexandra gets no response.

SCENE #79 – INT – OPS ROOM, DWAXI BASE – DAY, MORNING
In the ops room of the underground Dwaxi base, Navigator Bolesh picks something up on her scanner screens and computer terminals.

BOLESH
(calls) “Commander? Commander Zurlt!”

ZURLT
(impatiently) “Yes, yes, you stupid blonde! What do you want now?”

BOLESH
(protests) “I’m not stupid!”

ZURLT
(yells) “Tell me what you want, girl! Or I’ll crack your head open!!!”

BOLESH
(calmly) “Trackers have picked up energy signatures of Fred Walker at ASR project in Brecon Beacons sector.”

ZURLT
(frustrated) “You do waste your time, stupid girl! Shut your big mouth up…”

BOLESH
“The Doctor’s with him, sir!”

ZURLT
(shocked) “What?” (angrily) “Get out of the way, you pathetic speck of dirt! Get out of my way!!!”

Zurlt pushes Bolesh out of her seat as he looks at the scanner screens. Bolesh ends up on the floor, bruised whilst Zurlt looks.

ZURLT
(savagely) “Right! That monster out there is going to get what he deserves! He’s going to be kicked to the floor!” (to Bolesh) “Bolesh? Use your horrible disgusting voice through the intercom and tell the mod and rocker gang to go to the ASR facility! Tell them to kill the Doctor! Kill him until every drop of blood pours out of him! I want to see the Doctor dead for the Directors!”

Zurlt gets out of the chair before realising Bolesh is on the floor.

ZURLT
(bitterly) “What do you think you’re doing, you stupid girl?!”

Zurlt kicks Bolesh on the floor.

ZURLT
(bitterly) “Get your butt off the floor and do some work, you loser!”

BOLESH
“Yes, sir.”

Bolesh gets up from the floor and stands.

ZURLT
“And whilst you’re at it, order the conditioned humans in gangs to be ready! If all else fails, they’re to gang up on the Doctor with his friends to kill them! Activate and relay instructions immediately without hesitation!”

BOLESH
“Yes, sir.”

ZURLT
(yells) “Get on with it will you, stupid witch you!!!”

Zurlt smacks Bolesh in her face viciously. He then leaves. Bolesh recovers before she resumes her work, as she sits in her chair at the computer terminal, grimly determined.

SCENE #80 – INT – LIVING ROOM, NO. 8 – DAY, MORNING
At No. 8 in Churchwood Street, Nyssa and Billy turn up. Enid helps Billy into the living room as he sits down on a sofa.

ENID
(concerned) “Billy, my darling. Take a seat here and sit down. You’ll be alright.”

BILLY
“Yes, Mum. Just as you say.”

ENID
(concerned) “But what happened?!”

BILLY
“The teddy boys were going a bit too far with playing tricks with me, I’m afraid.”

ENID
“Oh those teddy boys. It’s insufferable. When are they going to stop hurting people?!”

NYSSA
(concerned) “This isn’t the first time it’s happened then.”

ENID
“No. Teddy boys on motorcycles have frequently come on streets hurting people. Some got chased and mugged by them. One of my friends got burgled and was beaten up.”

BILLY
“But you’re alright aren’t you, Mum? You and Dad haven’t had any trouble?”

ENID
“Thankfully not. Your Dad and I have been fortunate. They seem to ignore us somehow.” (Pause, to Billy) “Now, Billy. Would you like a cup of tea and a biscuit to calm you down? It’ll do you some good, I’m sure.”

BILLY
“I don’t need a cup of tea, Mum.”

ENID
“Oh please, Billy dear. Let me make you one.”

BILLY
(gradually) “Oh alright then. I won’t say ‘no’ to a cuppa.”

ENID
(happily) “Splendid.”

BILLY
“And one for Nyssa too, Mum?”

ENID
(grudgingly) “Oh. Yes. Very well.”

NYSSA
(reassuringly) “It’s alright. I don’t need [a cup of…]”

BILLY
“Oh please, Nyssa. Don’t say no.”

NYSSA
(reassuringly) “No really. I’m alright thank you, Billy.”

ENID
(suspiciously; to Nyssa) “What were you doing when Billy was being beaten up? You were with my boy I suppose.”

BILLY
(to Enid) “Nyssa saved my life, Mum! Just when those boys smashed me out of the café window.”

ENID
(shocked) “What?! They smashed you out of the window?!”

NYSSA
“It was shocking what they did to Billy.” (Pause; reassuringly) “It’s alright, Mrs. Walker. I looked after your son.”

ENID
(unconvinced) “I’m sure you did.” (Pause) “I’ll just go and make the tea now, shall I?”

With that, Enid leaves the room. Nyssa and Billy look to each other whilst in the living room after Enid’s gone.

NYSSA
(gradually) “Your mother doesn’t trust me, Billy. And I don’t blame her.”

BILLY
“Don’t worry about it, sweetheart. She’ll come to like you eventually. Give her time.”

Nyssa and Billy console each other as they wait for Enid to return with the cups of tea for them.

SCENE #81 – INT – CENTRAL HALL, ASR PLANT – DAY, MORNING
Back at the ASR facility in the Brecon Beacons, the Doctor continues to ponder on the mysterious revelations regarding the project. Fred is still with him.

DOCTOR
(to himself) “There’s something not right about this. It doesn’t add up.”

FRED
(to Doctor) “Doctor, there’s something I need to ask you.”

DOCTOR
(to himself) “Why would someone create a project dedicated to preserve the water supply on Earth and yet hide? He or she should be honoured as a hero. So why hide?”

FRED
(to Doctor) “Doctor, I need to ask you about Billy.”

DOCTOR
(to himself) “I wonder if those murders have anything to do with this.”

FRED
(to Doctor) “What’s happened to Billy? Where did you take him in the two years we missed him?”

DOCTOR
(snaps out of it) “Hmm? Sorry, Fred. Were you asking me about Billy then?”

FRED
“I’m sure you mean well, Doctor. And I don’t want to judge you. But my wife is worried sick about this miraculous return of our son. She won’t be satisfied unless [you…]”

DOCTOR
(cries; urgently) “Fred, get down!”

The Doctor pulls Fred down, as someone shoots at them. Everyone screams once the shots have been fired. The shooters keep on firing, whilst the Doctor and Fred duck for cover.

FRED
“Blimey that was close!”

Fred then gropes in pain for a moment.

DOCTOR
(concerned) “Are you alright, Fred?”

FRED
(in pain) “I’ll be fine. Just scraped my knee cap.” (bewildered) “Where did that come from then?!”

DOCTOR
“Over there. In the far corner. Behind those railings.”

FRED
“Somebody’s trying to shoot us dead!”

DOCTOR
“Yes. Or more accurately – shoot me dead.”

The Doctor and Fred keep down whilst trying to see who’s firing at them.

FRED
“It’s two boys. Two ruffians. They’re firing pistols! Are they out of their minds?”

DOCTOR
(realises) “Most definitely. I’ve met them before. They tried to kill me and some others in that burning house yesterday.”

Fred realises that it’s Rick and Keith are firing upon them. Rick and Keith then run out of bullets. They pull the triggers on their pistols to fire again, but all they get are clicking noises when unable to open fire.

FRED
“Doctor, they’ve run out of ammunition! Their guns are useless!”

Dropping their guns, Rick and Keith eventually make a run for it.

DOCTOR
“They’re getting away! We must stop them!”

The Doctor gets up on his feet, as he chases after Rick and Keith. Fred follows after him.

FRED
(baffled) “But what are they doing here?!”

DOCTOR
(impatiently) “Don’t ask questions, Fred! Get someone to sound the alarm! Quickly, man!”

They then pass someone who works at the place and Fred turns to him.

FRED
(calls) “Hey, Norm! Sound the alarm! We’ve got burglars!”

Norm gets the message, as very soon a burglar alarm rings out. The Doctor and Fred chase after Rick and Keith whilst other workers follow to see what’s happening.

DOCTOR
“They’re leaving this section! We must corner them off via an alternative route!”

The Doctor and Fred eventually leave the main area of the ASR plant.

SCENE #82 – EXT – ASR PLANT, BRECON BEACONS – DAY, MORNING
Outside, the Doctor and Fred run out via the back entrance of the ASR plant to pursue Rick and Keith. They seem to have lost track of them.

DOCTOR
“Gone?!”

FRED
“Well, that’s it then! Those crooks are far from us! We’ll never catch them now!”

DOCTOR
“They must have escaped via another door. I was sure they would use the back entrance.”

FRED
“We’re likely to be future targets if we’re not careful.”

Just then, glass gets smashed followed by loud cries and shouts far-off.

DOCTOR
“Ah! Hear that!”

FRED
“It came round that way! Let’s not waste chances!”

DOCTOR
“I admire your spirit, Fred! Come on!”

Fred and the Doctor run around the corner to follow the trail.

SCENE #83 – EXT – ASR PLANT, BRECON BEACONS – DAY, MORNING
Around the corner, Rick and Keith fight some workers that try to apprehend them. They fight viciously and brutally, screaming and yelling.

RICK
(yells) “You stupid pigs! Get in our way and we’ll kick your butts!”

KEITH
(shouts) “Don’t mess with us! We’ll get angry if you mess with us!”

Rick and Keith continue fighting whilst the Doctor and Fred turn up.

FRED
“Doctor! There they are!”

DOCTOR
(calls) “Stop them! Don’t let them get away!”

FRED
(shouts) “Stop them! Pin them down!”

There’s a moment when Rick and Keith get away. But some of the workers manage to catch up and jump on them. They pin Rick and Keith down, as the two bullies struggle to resist arrest on the ground. Fred joins in to help the workers whilst they have Rick and Keith pinned down.

FRED
“We’ve got them pinned down, Doctor!”

DOCTOR
“Well done, Fred!”

The ASR workers and Fred struggle to pin Rick and Keith down, who curse and spit at them.

RICK
(yells) “You’re all thickos! Idiots! We hate you all!”

KEITH
“We’re much stronger than you! You’re old men! You’re freaking useless!”

FRED
(cries) “Doctor! We can’t keep them pinned down forever!”

DOCTOR
“Don’t worry! Leave it to me!”

With that, the Doctor presses two of his fingers with both hands on Rick and Keith’s necks. Gradually they slow down and lie on the ground, resisting no more. They’re still bitter and aggressive whilst lying on the ground.

DOCTOR
“There! Should have no problem now!”

FRED
(astonished) “Doctor, what did you just do to them?”

DOCTOR
“I applied a little technique with having a finger from each hand placed on the nerve centres in their necks. They should be immobilised for a while.”

RICK
“It won’t last, Doctor. We’ll beat you up! We’ll kick the living guts out of you!”

KEITH
“You won’t know suffering till you see it dead in your face!”

DOCTOR
(concerned) “Those are very bad red marks you’ve got on your necks, dear lads. How did you come by them?”

Tense silence as Rick and Keith refuse to answer.

DOCTOR
“I never did any harm to you two. Nor did Mr. Walker here. Neither did Constable Wyatt and the late John Graham yesterday. Why go to all the trouble?!”

RICK
(bitterly) “Graham was a backstabbing twerp!”

KEITH
(bitterly) “He should have known he’d get stuffed!”

FRED
“Such ghastly language. What’s got into you two?”

DOCTOR
(to Fred) “Quiet, Fred.” (to Rick; Keith) “Why did you try to shoot me and Mr. Walker, boys?”

KEITH
“You know too much already, Doctor! We wanted to see you bonked off!”

RICK
“For our masters! They want you dead! And so do we!”

KEITH
“For drugs! We want drugs for our work!”

RICK
“And to cause trouble and give people a bad time! We love being naughty and malicious! It’s so delicious!”

Rick and Keith laugh mockingly and cruelly.

DOCTOR
(insistently) “Who are you? Tell me! Who are you working for?!”

Rick and Keith continue laughing as it grows louder and louder.

DOCTOR
(shouts) “Answer me!”

Moment of silence.

KEITH
(gradually; viciously) “Dwaxi, Doctor! Dwaxi!”

DOCTOR
(gradually; shocked) “What?”

RICK
“We work…for the Dwaxi! Your enemies!”

DOCTOR
(horrified) “No! That’s not possible!”

RICK
(triumphantly) “The Dwaxi will rise!”

KEITH
(triumphantly) “We shall be victorious!” (Pause) “Death is victory!”

RICK; KEITH
(chants) “Death is victory! Death is victory! Death is victory! Death is victory! Death is victory!”

Distracting them, Rick and Keith manage to escape from the ASR workers as they run off.

FRED
(panics) “Oh no! Doctor! They’ve managed to escape! They’re getting away!”

The ASR workers try to chase Rick and Keith whilst the Doctor becomes worried by this disturbing revelation.

DOCTOR
(deeply troubled) “I have to find Nyssa and Billy. I have to warn them!”

With that, the Doctor goes off to find his friends. Fred follows after him.

SCENE #84 – INT – LIVING ROOM, NO. 8 – DAY, MORNING
Back in the living room of No. 8 in Churchwood Street with Nyssa, Billy and Enid, they’re having tea and biscuits whilst they chat.

ENID
(gradually; to Billy) “So…what you’ve been doing and where have you been for the past two years?”

BILLY
(awkwardly) “I told you, Mum. I’ve been travelling with Nyssa and the Doctor.”

ENID
“That’s not really much of an answer, Billy dear.”

BILLY
“I don’t think I can tell you anything more, Mum. Like I’ve said before, you wouldn’t believe me.”

ENID
(anxiously) “Billy, I want to trust you! I want to be certain that everything’s been alright with you! You’ve been away for two years! And I’m afraid that this girlfriend of yours and the Doctor have brainwashed you in some way!”

NYSSA
“That’s not true, Mrs. Walker. The Doctor and I would never do something like that to Billy!”

ENID
(to Nyssa) “I’m afraid I don’t believe you…whatever your name is!”

NYSSA
(helpfully) “Nyssa.”

BILLY
(shocked) “Mum! I can’t believe I’d hear you say these things!”

ENID
“I’m sorry, Billy. But it’s the way I feel.”

BILLY
“Nyssa and the Doctor have never harmed in the time that I’ve met them. And we haven’t done anything dangerous, illegal or…evil, if that’s what you’re afraid of.”

NYSSA
“It’s true, Mrs. Walker. We haven’t done any such things.”

ENID
(to Billy) “I’m afraid of losing you again, Billy. I need to know what’s happened to you. Please tell me!”

BILLY
(hesitantly) “I…I wish I can tell you. But I can’t, Mum. I can’t!”

Just then, the Doctor bursts into the room with Fred behind him.

DOCTOR
(relieved) “Nyssa; Billy?! Thank goodness you’re here. Safe and sound I see.”

NYSSA
(concerned) “Doctor, what’s the matter? You look troubled.”

BILLY
(concerned; to Fred) “Dad, are you alright?”

FRED
(reassuringly) “I’m fine, Billy. The Doctor saved my life at the ASR plant. I owe him one.”

DOCTOR
(interrupts) “Nyssa; Billy. It’s not safe here.”

NYSSA
(concerned) “Not safe? What do you mean?”

DOCTOR
“No time to explain. We have to go now!”

ENID
(to Billy) “No! Please, Billy! Don’t go!”

DOCTOR
(to Enid) “Sorry, Mrs. Walker. But your son is in great danger!”

ENID
(upset) “But…my son…”

DOCTOR
(insistently) “Nyssa; Billy! Come on!”

ENID
(pleads; to Billy) “Billy! Please don’t go with them!”

BILLY
“I’m sorry, Mum. But I have to go! I’m so sorry!”

With that, the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy leave as they head out of the house. Enid eventually follows after them with Fred stopping her.

FRED
“Enid? Where are you going?!”

ENID
“Where do you think?! Are you coming or not?!”

SCENE #85 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Outside, on the rooftop on a house, Sean Black watches in hiding.

SEAN
(mischievously) “There you all are! Come out, the three of you!”

Sean watches, as the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy exit No. 8, Churchwood Street.

SCENE #86 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING

NYSSA
“Which way, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“That way! To the left! It’s where the TARDIS!”

BILLY
“I don’t see why we have to leave in such a hurry.”

They then look back as they hear something behind them. The mods and rockers approach them with vicious intent.

NYSSA
(troubled) “Oh no! Those boys are coming!”

DOCTOR
(urgently) “Quickly! To the left!”

The Doctor, Nyssa and Billy run as fast as they can to reach the end of the street whilst they’re being chased.

SCENE #87 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Sean watches gleefully as he sees the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy being chased by the mods and rockers in the street.

SEAN
(mischievously) “Oh no, Doctor. You won’t find it that easy. They’ll catch you up!”

SCENE #88 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
The Doctor, Nyssa and Billy continue to run for it as they’re being chased by mods and rockers.

NYSSA
“It’s no good, Doctor. They’re gaining on us!”

BILLY
“They’re fast on their feet. We’re not going to make it!”

DOCTOR
“We must reach the TARDIS before…”

But they’re stopped in their tracks, as more mods and rockers appear before the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy from the other side.

NYSSA
(anxiously) “There’s more of them!”

BILLY
“Oh no!”

The Doctor, Nyssa and Billy remain still, as the mods and rockers from both sides approach and surround them. Enid and Fred can see this happening from where they are outside No. 8, Churchwood Street

ENID
(cries) “No! Leave my son alone, you thugs!”

FRED
(shouts) “Billy! Get away from there!”

The Doctor, Nyssa and Billy remain still whilst they’re being encircled.

SCENE #89 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
On the rooftop with Sean…

SEAN
(gleefully) “Now! Whilst nobody’s watching.”

Sean takes out a little gadget of his and presses a switch on it. It emits a low hum. Sean giggles gleefully whilst the whirring occurs.

SEAN
(gleefully) “Should be any minute now!”

SCENE #90 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Back on the street…

NYSSA
“We’re being surrounded by these bullies.”

BILLY
(anxiously) “Doctor! My mum and dad are standing outside my house! They’re not safe!”

DOCTOR
(wryly) “They look so happy, these boys!”

NYSSA
(realises) “Doctor! Someone’s materialising right before us!”

Within seconds, a Dwaxi trooper materialises before the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy. The Dwaxi trooper carries a powerful weapon and charges it up with tremendous power.

NYSSA
(gasps, horrified) “Oh no! Please, it can’t be!”

BILLY
(horrified) “Doctor! That isn’t…”

DOCTOR
“Yes, Nyssa; Billy. I’m afraid it is. It’s a Dwaxi trooper.”

The Dwaxi trooper trains his weapon on the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy and lets out a horrendous, mocking laugh at them.

DWAXI TROOPER #1
(mockingly) “You three will die abysmally! Rot likes dogs! Scream like children!”

The Dwaxi trooper keeps on laughing before firing his weapon furiously and viciously at the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy, screaming terribly.

  1. Awesome chapter, loving the chemistry between the Doctor & Fred it’s wonderful written dialogue, i loving how you write the curious side to the Fifth Doctor you captured that season 19 tone to him, Sean is just scum, he’s beyond redemption now he’s vile i think he thrives of causing mayhem, & Enid doesn’t like Nyssa cause any woman wouldn’t be good enough for her Billy lol.

    • Hi Simon.

Very pleased you enjoyed ‘Dawn of the Dwaxi – Part Two’. Did you find the cliff-hanger ending thrilling?

Glad you enjoyed the chemistry between the Doctor and Fred and found the dialogue wonderfully written. Very pleased you find I’ve captured the Season 19 of the Fifth Doctor in these stories. What did you make when the Fifth Doctor discovered it was the Dwaxi behind all of this?

I hope you’ll enjoy more of Sean and his mayhem in the next four episodes of this story. Some of the things he does in the next four episodes is shocking.

Yeah Enid doesn’t seem to like Nyssa or feel comfortable with her as Billy’s boyfriend. After all, Billy’s been missing for two years. It’s not like Enid’s going to trust Nyssa and the Doctor completely as Billy’s friends is she?

Hope you’ll enjoy ‘Part Three’ next, Simon. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on the next chapter.

      Tim. 🙂
