REPRISE

JASON
(shouts) “It’s no good, Doctor! Once we get her up here, the cliff will break! We’ll fall to our deaths!”

DOCTOR
“We must get her up here, Jason! Help me pull her up!”

But as the Doctor tries to pull Dynda further back up, the cliff lurches forward and both he and Jason lose their grip. Dynda finally falls down into the abyss, screaming out loud in terror.

JASON
(shouts) “No! Dynda!”

DOCTOR
(cries) “Dynda!”

They watch mortified, seeing Dynda fall to her death.

SCENE #111B – EXT – GORGE LAND, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – NIGHT

MORG
(cries) “Hey! Look! Look, everyone! There’s a big hand coming in!”

DELETOS
“What nonsense are you talking about, scoundrel?”

PIKE
(excitedly) “No, no! He’s right! There is a big hand coming in! A great big muddy hand!”

DOROMIR
“Yes! I see it too! Look!”

They all look, as Dynda lands in the huge palm of a gigantic hand composed of mud. A squelching sound echoes as she lands.

DOCTOR
(cries) “Dynda?! Dynda, are you alright?! Dynda!”

LO-JO
(shouts) “Come on, Doctor; Jason lad! Let me shipmates help you back!”

The Doctor and Jason quickly make their way back up, as they’re helped by Morg and Pike to join the others.

DELETOS
“Miss Dynda’s coming back! The mud hand’s bringing her back to us!”

Dynda cries as she’s being put back on the ground with the Doctor, Jason and the others by the muddy hand. The mud hand slithers away once Dynda is reunited with the Doctor, Jason and the others.

JASON
“She’s back with us!”

LO-JO
“Come on, everyone! Move away from the edge now!”

Everybody runs off away from the edge of the cliff, as they get to a safer place on stable grounds in Gorge Land. They stop for a moment, as the Doctor checks on Dynda.

DOCTOR
(relieved) “Dynda! Thank goodness you’re safe!”

DYNDA
“I’m thrilled to be alive, Doctor! But…that was Gun who saved me, wasn’t it?”

DOCTOR
“It would seem so, Dynda. Regarding the physical composition.”

They then turn to see the Mud Man as a snake-form slithering away into the darkness.

DYNDA
(shouts) “Gun! Gun, come back please!”

But Dynda receives no response. Meanwhile the earthquake-like shuddering of the rock-plates in Gorge Land continues.

PIKE
(panics) “This whole place’s crumbling apart! We’ve got to get out of here!”

MORG
“Duh, Pike! Duh!”

LO-JO
“We move on!” (to Morg; Pike) “You lads! Get these people moving!”

DOROMIR
(ruefully) “It seems rather hopeless doesn’t it, Mr. Sil?! Since we’re all going to die!”

MORG
“You heard our new captain, Captain! Get your butts moving!”

DOCTOR
(agitated; to Lo-Jo) “Surely Lo-Jo, we must find a way to get to Ungol quickly! At least a short-cut would be apt!”

LO-JO
“That’s precisely what I had in mind, Doctor!”

DOCTOR
(sceptical) “Really?! Somehow I doubt that!”

LO-JO
(impatiently) “Move you scurvy do-gooders and get up that ledge over there!! MOVE, I SAY! MOVE!!!”

They all do as Lo-Jo says, as the Doctor, Doromir, Deletos, Dynda and Jason with Morg and Pike run to get out of the crumbling section of Gorge Land. Lo-Jo follows with Orio the Parrot perched on his shoulder, squawking away.

SCENE #112 – EXT – USTO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – NIGHT
Back in the dark forest of Usto, with rain pelting down, Billy fights the tigers with fire outside the cave. Billy uses his flaming torch to scare the tigers off. The tigers surround Billy, whilst the rain keeps pelting down. Nyssa stands outside the cave watching Billy fighting the tigers, with her hair and body drenched by the rain-water. She still suffers from her illness as she watches the first tiger charging at Billy and about to leap onto him.

NYSSA
(cries) “Billy! Watch out for that tiger!”

Drenched to the skin, Billy has enough time to dodge the first tiger. The first tiger growls angrily. Meanwhile, the second tiger charges at Billy. Billy hits the second tiger with the flaming torch in his face. The tiger retreats screeching.

BILLY
(laughs) “Felt that, didn’t you?! Felt my flaming torch in your face, hey tiger?!”

NYSSA
(shouts) “Billy, behind you! Another tiger!”

Billy turns round to see the third tiger charging at him. Billy jumps out of the way, as the third tiger charges into the cave walls close to where Nyssa is. The second tiger that attacked him recovers and leaps onto Billy again. Billy strikes at the second tiger with the flaming torch again.

BILLY
(cries) “Don’t you cats ever give up?”

Billy eventually becomes tired whilst the tigers are relentless.

NYSSA
(suffers) “Must help him! I…I must help him!”

Nyssa struggles in her illness, before she sees something to help Billy with.

NYSSA
“That log! I’ll use that log to help Billy with the tigers!”

Nyssa quickly makes her way over to a log situated next to the cave entrance. She lifts it up in her hands and takes it with her. Meanwhile the third tiger recovers and charges at Billy.

BILLY
“Ah! You! The wall crasher! Come back for more, have you?!”

Billy uses the flaming torch to strike the third tiger. But Billy makes a miscalculation and the third tiger scratches his arm. Billy cries out in pain, once the third tiger’s claws hit him.

NYSSA
(cries; anxiously) “Billy! No!”

BILLY
(in pain) “My arm! The tiger’s scratched my arm! There are now three blood marks there!”

Billy falls to the ground in pain, whilst the third tiger makes for the kill.

NYSSA
(determined) “Oh no, you don’t! Not on my Billy!”

Nyssa uses the log in her hands and swings it, striking at the third tiger. Nyssa’s distraction works, but now the three tigers change their target towards her.

NYSSA
(cries; anxiously) “Oh no! Not on me! Not all three of you! Go away, you big cats! Go away!”

But the three tigers snarl and growl fiercely, as they’re about to charge at her. Nyssa backs away holding the log in her hands. Eventually Billy recovers and gets up from the ground, as he takes up the flaming torch in his hand and sees Nyssa in trouble.

BILLY
(cries) “Hold on Nyssa, my dear! Hold on!”

Billy then charges at the tigers with a cry, as he strikes the flaming torch on the first tiger. The first tiger screeches and runs away into the dark forest.

NYSSA
(astonished) “Billy!”

BILLY
(reassuringly) “It’s alright, Nyssa! That one tiger I dealt with just now with my flaming torch has gone into the forest!”

NYSSA
“Yes! But there are still these two tigers to deal with!”

At that, the second tiger turns its attention to Billy whilst the third tiger turns its attention to Nyssa.

BILLY
“Oh no! We got a tiger each to deal with, Nyssa! One for you and one for me!”

NYSSA
“You’ll deal with your tiger, Billy! I’ll deal with mine!”

BILLY
“Right!” (Pause; gradually to second tiger) “Come on then, tiger! You’re mine to fight with!”

The second tiger focuses on Billy, before it leaps out onto him. The second tiger attempts to strike Billy at his chest. But Billy manages to throws the flaming torch at the second tiger in his face. The second tiger howls in pain, before it runs off into the forest.

BILLY
(jeers) “Yes! That’s right! Run like the wind, you scarcedy tiger! Didn’t like my flaming torch, did you?!”

Nyssa meanwhile swings her log at the third tiger. She struggles fighting with the third tiger, as it become too strong for her.

NYSSA
(cries) “Leave me alone, you tiger! Leave me alone!”

BILLY
(cries) “Nyssa! Hold on!”

Billy sees Nyssa in trouble and runs over to save her. He picks up the flaming torch again and throws it at the third tiger’s tail. The third tiger screeches in terror, before it runs off with the other tigers into the forest. Nyssa and Billy are safe. Moment of silence ensues, as the rain keeps pouring down on them.

NYSSA
(astonished) “Nyssa! You struck your torch at the tiger’s tail to get it away from me!”

BILLY
(regretfully) “Yes. I don’t like hurting animals, Nyssa! But those three tigers would have killed us!” (Pause; concerned) “Are you alright, Nyssa?”

NYSSA
(relieved) “Yes!” (Pause) “Thank you, Billy! You saved my life!”

BILLY
“It’s my pleasure, Nyssa!”

Another moment of silence. Eventually Billy cries out in pain, as he drops to the ground cradling his arm. The flaming torch beside him is put out by the rain pouring down. Nyssa makes her way over to Billy and kneels beside him to check on him.

NYSSA
(concerned) “Billy, are you alright? Your arm’s bleeding all over!”

BILLY
(reassuringly) “I’ll be alright, Nyssa! I’ll be fine!” (Pause) “We should get out of this rain though! Come on! Back to the cave we go, Nyssa!”

Billy regains his strength, despite the blood dripping from his arm. Nyssa helps Billy, as they make their way back into the cave and out of the pouring rain.

SCENE #113 – INT – CAVE, USTO – DATE: 4198 – NIGHT
Inside the cave, Nyssa and Billy settle down and recover from their ordeal. Nyssa tends to Billy’s wound. The rain continues pouring from outside the cave, whilst Nyssa and Billy are inside.

BILLY
(concerned) “You…you seemed to be in pain when I was fighting the tigers, Nyssa. I noticed when I saw you standing outside the cave.”

NYSSA
(reassuringly) “I’m fine. It was a moment of nausea from the infection I have.” (frustrated) “You shouldn’t have taken on those tigers in your condition, Billy.”

BILLY
(coyly) “Nor should you!”

Moment of silence, whilst Nyssa checks Billy’s arm.

NYSSA
(concerned) “Your arm’s bleeding badly, Billy! The tiger that attacked you must have scratched you deep!”

BILLY
(reassuringly) “I’ll be okay, Nyssa! I’ll survive!”

NYSSA
(gradually) “I don’t have anything to cover your arm with!”

BILLY
(reassuringly) “It’s alright! I’ve got a hanky in my pocket! Hopefully it shouldn’t be too wet!”

Billy fumbles one of his trouser pockets and takes out a wet handkerchief. He opens it out and places it onto his arm to cover the bleeding of the tiger’s scratch marks on it. Nyssa then starts to take off Billy’s shirt, as she lifts it up from his torso.

BILLY
(startled) “What…Nyssa, what are you doing?”

NYSSA
“Just taking your shirt off, Billy! It’s drenched!”

BILLY
(apprehensive) “It’s alright! Leave it on!”

NYSSA
“No, Billy! You can’t sleep with that shirt on! You need to take it off!”

BILLY
(reluctantly) “Oh. Alright.”

Nyssa pulls Billy’s shirt off from him, taking it off and revealing his torso to be bare-skinned. Once his shirt is off, Billy then shivers as he feels the cold air coming in from outside with the pouring rain as well as the rain-water on his bare skin.

NYSSA
“Are you cold, Billy?”

BILLY
(shivers) “It’s the rain! It soaked me to the skin when I was fighting those tigers.”

NYSSA
“I can warm you up?”

BILLY
(puzzled) “Oh? How are you going to do that?”

Eventually, Billy gets a surprise as Nyssa gently embraces him and pulls him closer to her in a hug. They then cuddle each other, as Nyssa warms Billy up with the thunder and lightning occurring from outside as well as the rain pouring down.

BILLY
(surprised; astonished) “Oh! Um…yes! That-that is a way to keeping oneself warm. Cuddling one another. Especially when a guy’s got his shirt off!”

Nyssa cuddles Billy further, whilst Billy gradually becomes contented with this experience he has with her. Eventually, Nyssa looks up at Billy to face him.

NYSSA
(softly) “I meant what I said to you, Billy. Thank you for saving me!”

BILLY
(nervously) “I…I was terrified when fighting those big cats, Nyssa! Scared stiff!”

NYSSA
(gradually) “I thought you were really brave!”

BILLY
“Thanks.”

Nyssa continues cuddling Billy, as she lays her head on his chest. Moment of silence, as Billy anticipates whilst the rain keeps pelting down from outside the cave they’re in.

BILLY
(nervously) “Err…you don’t have to cuddle me too long you know, Nyssa. You can let go of me if you want.”

Billy receives no response as Nyssa continues to cuddle him.

BILLY
(gradually) “Okay. You can cuddle me a little longer if you want to. I’m happy with that.” (trails off) “I’m…happy with that.”

Billy still receives no response from Nyssa. He eventually relaxes as he becomes content with Nyssa cuddling him. Billy then brings Nyssa closer to him as they cuddle. Both sigh contented, whilst the rain continues to pour from outside during the night.

SCENE #114 – EXT – GORGE LAND, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, MORNING
Next morning, on the edge of Gorge Land, the patrol of Gren hunting for the Doctor stand on the ridge of collapsed rock-plates below them. The group includes Ja-Ara, Jor-Eliv, Elar-Jom, Antuss and Brother Sor. They look down and see the devastation of the rock-plates below.

SOR
(astonished) “It’s completely ruined! This Gorge Land! Those smelly harbingers of doom couldn’t have survived!”

JA-ARA
(bitterly) “Whether they survived or not, I’m glad not to see the face of Lo-Jo Sil! We shall not pursue that Doctor! From now on, it’s Gren for Gren!”

The Gren savages cheer in triumph, once they hear Ja-Ara proclaim that vow.

JOR-ELIV
“Excellent suggestion, Ja-Ara! We shall return to our village and carry on with our normal lives! No more smelly trespassers to deal with!”

JA-ARA
“Yes, husband! They may think we’re stupid, but we are much smarter than those pooey-brained smellys!”

ELAR-JOM
“Our mud god won’t be happy, Mum! He told us to capture and kill the Doctor! Will you go on worshipping the mud knowing you have failed him?”

Up-tight, Ja-Ara turns to her daughter and smacks her in the face. Elar-Jom lets out a cry of pain, while the other Gren savages gasp in shock.

JA-ARA
(bitterly) “You waste of a girl who I hate as my own daughter! I still have a lot of talking to you! How dare you take the nerve to go against me?!”

ELAR-JOM
(angrily) “How dare I?! How dare you for making me such an embarrassment to my own people?! With your…precious principles soaked in mud and mucking your feet so that you can ward your enemies off!”

JA-ARA
“Don’t you go against my habits of smelling me up against those smellys! You and that dummy-dumb boy of yours have committed crimes of sexual interaction and backstabbing against the queen of Gren!”

SOR
(cries; shocked) “Everyone! Look!”

Everyone gasps, as they see the snake-form of the Mud Man slithering towards them. The Mud Man eventually changes his form to become a man as Gun Nett.

SOR
(cries; shocked) “It’s the Mud Man! Oh no!”

Gun then transforms his arms into mud and stretches out his right hand to Ja-Ara instantly. He grabs her by the throat and she gasps for breath.

JOR-ELIV
(shocked) “Ja! My wife!”

Everyone’s shocked, before Gun Nett pulls Ja-Ara by the throat towards him. Ja-Ara finds herself looking directly into the Gun Nett’s face, as she gasps for breath.

JA-ARA
(gasps) “My god!”

DR. NETT
(bitterly) “You have disappointed me, great leader and queen of Gren! You were supposed to follow the Doctor to Ungol! For that is where he is heading!”

JA-ARA
(gasps) “That’s…that’s what we’ve been doing! My people and I!”

DR. NETT
“Then why haven’t you done it?! I expected you to be on his trail in an instant!”

Ja-Ara gasps for breath as she’s unable to speak.

JA-ARA
(gasps, pleads) “Please! Dear great one! Can’t breathe!”

But Gun Nett doesn’t let go off Ja-Ara, as he tightens his grip around her neck with his mud hand.

JOR-ELIV
(cries) “We’ve been following their trail right up to this Gorge Land, great Mud Man! But the scent has faded!”

SOR
(cries) “Yes! They must have been killed when those rock-plates in Gorge Land collapsed! They must be dead! No-one can survive!”

DR. NETT
(angrily) “You are such stupid, stupid dolts! The Doctor and his friends are on their way to Ungol now! They have taken a short cut through the Gap of Jerrack and are reaching the Retatif Fields!”

ELAR-JOM
(protests; wryly) “Well, how were we to know that? We’re not great gods like you’re supposed to be!”

JOR-ELIV
(pleads) “Please, Mud Man! Let my wife go! She’s choking!”

Ja-Ara chokes whilst Gun Nett holds her in his grip.

DR. NETT
“Very well!”

Gun Nett throws Ja-Ara back to the ground. She coughs out loud, whilst Jor-Eliv and Brother Sor make their way over to her and lift her up from the ground.

DR. NETT
(menacingly) “But consider this! The life of your queen shall pay the price if you fail to obey the Mud Man’s words! Go now to Ungol and find the Doctor! If you fail…your queen…Ja-Ara….will die!” (warningly) “Remember that!”

Nett then converts into mud and drops down to the ground. He slithers off, as he makes his way into the darkness of the jungle forest. Once he’s gone, Ja-Ara recovers from her ordeal with the Mud Man, as Jor-Eliv and Brother Sor support her.

JOR-ELIV
(concerned) “Ja, my wife? Are you well?”

SOR
“You are honoured to have such a demand from the great one, my queen!”

JA-ARA
(determined) “Never mind that, you nitwits! We must go! Go to Ungol!”

JOR-ELIV
(concerned) “You are not well, Ja! You [should…”]

JA-ARA
(yells; angrily) “Now! I’m not a cry baby, Jor-Eliv! We’ve got to go Ungol! Find the Doctor! Kill him! And then…Ja-Ara will live…and rule all of Gren!” (to Gren) “Come! Come! To Ungol!”

GREN
(cheer) “To Ungol!” (chant) “Ungol! Ungol! Ungol! Ungol! [Ungol! Ungol! Ungol! Ungol…”]

The Gren make their way out from the Gorge Land, as they head for the tower Ungol, chanting as they go.

SCENE #116 – EXT – JERRACK FORESTS, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, MORNING
Meanwhile, in the Jerrack Forests, the Mud Man slithers in its snake-form. He eventually reverts back to his human form of Gun Nett. He sighs, feeling exhausted, as he sits down on a log to regains his strength back. Nett doesn’t rest long though, as he suddenly contorts in pain and agony and collapses to the ground. Grasping his chest, Nett is unable to control his body as his legs drop to the ground and become squishy, squelching wet mud.

DR. NETT
(bewildered) “W-What…what’s happening to me? Do I need rice?!”

Gun Nett then gasps in shock, as he see Salvador standing before him.

DR. NETT
(agitated) “What have I done to anger you now? I’ve done your dirty work, haven’t I?!”

SALVADOR
“My rage towards you concerns the two people you’ve made a deal with!”

DR. NETT
(realises) “Oh! The Doctor’s feeble friends! The girl and the boy!”

SALVADOR
“What do you think you’re doing?! Asking them to become like you!”

DR. NETT
“They are suffering from a bout of infection by some Pinator insects.”

SALVADOR
“Pinator? What’s that got to do with it?”

DR. NETT
“My purpose on this planet was to find cures and diseases. To remove sickness for those who suffer far away, before you absconded me!”

SALVADOR
“You are not the feeble scientist you once were, Nett!”

DR. NETT
“But the research I conducted analysed the properties of the mud to contain life-enhancing properties! Properties which can cure any form of virus, bacteria or infection!” (Pause) “I am the result. The mud molecules within my body make that possible!” (Pause) “If I offer the powers you gave me to the Doctor’s friends, they will have no choice to submit! The voices inside their heads will control them! They will bond with the life-form within the mud!”

SALVADOR
(gradually; impressed) “Hmm. Interesting theory!” (Pause) “See to it, that they agree to your deal!” (Pause) “This is the only chance you will ever get to embellish your scientific purpose!”

Salvador then disappears from sight. Eventually, Nett transforms back into the Mud Man, as he slithers away out of the Jerrack Forest. He makes for Usto to find Nyssa and Billy.

SCENE #116 – EXT – RETATIF FIELDS, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, MORNING
At the Retatif fields, the Doctor, Dynda, Doromir, Jason and Deletos are forced to walk by Lo-Jo, Morg and Pike. They make for their destination to Ungol.

PIKE
(excitedly) “We’re nearly there now! I’ve never been so excited!”

They see the Retatif fields before them and it is swampy and murky.

DOROMIR
(grimly) “So, this was where the great battle between pirates and savages was fought long ago then! And it’s now become a dead swamp!”

LO-JO
(laughs) “Aye, aye, Captain! That it has! A dead swamp!”

DYNDA
(shocked) “It’s horrible! So horrible!”

DELETOS
“Aye! That I concur, Miss Dynda! It’s not a pleasant sight!”

LO-JO
“Relax, you old woman! Just be careful not to fall in. Otherwise we may end up with ghosts of the dead!”

DYNDA
“Oh stop it, Lo-Jo! You’re scaring me to death here!”

JASON
(awed) “Look! Ungol’s closer than before! We’re almost there!”

Everyone looks to see the tower of Ungol before them, as it towers in the centre of the Retatif Fields. Meanwhile, the Doctor and Dynda walk side by side with each other.

DOCTOR
(sceptical) “Hmm. It’s not exactly how it’s described, is it?”

DYNDA
“What do you mean, Doctor?”

The Doctor takes out the Bible of Junglos from his coat pocket. He opens it and flicks through the pages before reaching the section he wants in the bible, as he reads it out loud to everyone.

DOCTOR
“Well…in the book of ‘Ungol’ in the bible…”

DYNDA
(annoyed) “Not that bible again!”

DOCTOR
“No, no! Listen to this!” (reads) “Ungol is described as ‘a tower taller than any man can see. It was built with iron and obsidian and is meant to be a height of one thousand, four hundred and fifty-eight metres’!”

DYNDA
(puzzled) “So?”

DOCTOR
“Well…if I was able to judge, due to its architectural structure; in terms of visible length and with a degree of insightful eyesight…I would say that the tower was about…four hundred and fifty-eight metres less than that specified height, wouldn’t you say?”

DYNDA
“You think the tower is just one thousand metres in height.”

DOCTOR
“No, Dynda! That’s exactly the length of that tower, as I see from it here!”

DYNDA
(sceptical) “Are you trying to act stupid, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“I see things in different lights, Dynda! If you look at things more closely, the brushwork of a painting can show hints of blank specks! I’m certain this tower’s shorter than the bible proclaims!”

DYNDA
“Perhaps they were over-exaggerating a bit. Those people who wrote the book. Perhaps they made the height one thousand, four hundred and fifty-eight metres to make it more interesting.”

DOCTOR
“Perhaps. But I sincerely doubt that they would want people to look at the tower and take the word from unknown authors about whether things appear to be four thousand, three thousand or one billion parsecs of degree in length; height; width; etc. Quality is certainly not a key word on this planet!”

DYNDA
“But surely you can’t judge by the inaccuracy of a tower’s height from the bible to suspect that all is not what it seems here, Doctor. You don’t even have the evidence to back it up!”

DOCTOR
(sceptical) “Yes. Maybe if I did have evidence, it would support my argument. But whatever the reason, I have a sneaky suspicion that this text I hold my hand is a forgery!”

DYNDA
“A forgery?! How?”

DOCTOR
(thinks) “I don’t know. Perhaps this bible was only written by fools. Or by a certain…someone.”

The Doctor and Dynda are then interrupted by Morg and Pike.

MORG
“Come on, you two! Join the others and move! We’ve got a tower to get to!”

PIKE
“Yeah! Come on! Move!”

The Doctor and Dynda are forced to move on with the others by Morg and Pike, as they go through the marshy fields.

SCENE #117 – INT – CAVE, USTO – DATE: 4198 – DAY, MORNING
Back in the cave of the Usto Forest, Nyssa wakes up after a long, restful sleep. She rouses up, as the sun shines brightly through the cave. As she wakes, she hears an eerie trumpet sound from outside. Nyssa focuses and looks around the place to find that Billy has gone.

NYSSA
“Billy?” (Pause) “Where have you gone?”

Another trumpet sound echoes from outside. Nyssa gradually sits up and looks to see where the light is coming in through the cave entrance from outside.

NYSSA
(calls) “Billy? Are you out there?”

Nyssa takes in the morning breeze entering the cave, as he sits up on the ground. She then hears Billy calling to her from outside.

BILLY
(calls; from outside) “Nyssa? Are you awake?”

NYSSA
“Yes!”

BILLY
(calls; from outside) “Come out here! There’s someone I want you to see!”

Curious, Nyssa gradually stands up from the ground and heads out of the cave to find Billy.

SCENE #118 – EXT – USTO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, MORNING
Outside, Nyssa finds Billy with an elephant. The elephant raises his trunk and blows his trumpet loudly.

BILLY
(cheerfully) “Morning, Nyssa! Look who I’ve found!”

Nyssa walks over to meet the elephant with Billy.

NYSSA
(fascinated) “Large, isn’t he?!”

BILLY
“Well he would be, wouldn’t he? I was just taking a little stroll around the entrance to the cave when he showed up. Since we need to get to Ungol, why not ride on this chap?”

Billy pats the elephant’s huge leg and it lets out a gentle horn sound.

NYSSA
“Have you been able to get him to sit down for us to get on?!”

BILLY
“I’ve only just found him, Nyssa. I’m not going to be able to persuade him that easily.”

Billy pats the elephant a number of times, before it suddenly raises its body down and sits on the ground, trumpeting as it does so.

BILLY
(astonished) “Well I’m…I’m dashed!”

NYSSA
“Seem as if you’ve been able to persuade the elephant easily.”

BILLY
(astonished) “Yes!” (Pause) “Would you like to ride on her, Nyssa? Or him? It’d save all this walking!”

NYSSA
(approvingly) “It’s a logical step in the right direction! Yes! I would like to ride on the elephant, Billy!”

BILLY
“Good!” (Pause) “Um? Do you want me to help you on?”

NYSSA
“I’m quite capable of getting on myself, thank you.”

With that, Nyssa makes her way over to sit on the elephant’s back. She starts to struggle, as she finds it difficult to get on. Nyssa tries again, but is unable to get on properly as she’s halfway up onto the elephant.

BILLY
“Hold on, Nyssa.”

Nyssa is then helped by Billy, as he pushes her up onto the elephant’s back. She soon finds herself sitting upright on the elephant.

BILLY
(cheerfully) “There you are! You did need my help after all!”

NYSSA
“Yes. So I did.” (Pause) “Are you coming up?”

Billy eventually makes his way up to climb onto the elephant’s back and join Nyssa. Nyssa helps Billy up and he manages to get onto the elephant and sit behind her.

BILLY
(cheerfully) “Thanks, Nyssa!”

Nyssa and Billy become intimate with each other for a moment whilst they’re sitting on the elephant. Eventually, they resume their attention on the elephant.

NYSSA
“How do we get the elephant to move, Billy?”

BILLY
“Ah! That I’m not sure!”

NYSSA
“You can try patting him again!”

Billy considers this for a moment, before he eventually pats the elephant a number of times on the back. The elephant then makes a horn sound, before it rises up again, carrying Nyssa and Billy  with him on his back. Startled by the experience, Nyssa and Billy ride on, as the elephant walks away from the cave.

BILLY
“Goodness! The trick worked!”

NYSSA
“Whoa! That was…amazing!”

BILLY
“Yeah! I’ve grown fond of this elephant now!” (Pause) “I wanted to have an elephant as a pet, you know.”

NYSSA
“Did you really?”

BILLY
“Yeah! But Mum and Dad wouldn’t let me have one in the house! It was too big to get in through the front door!”

Nyssa and Billy laugh, as the elephant takes them further into the deepest part of the dark forest of Usto.

SCENE #119 – EXT – USTO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, MORNING
A while later, after riding on the elephant for quite some time through the dark forest of Usto, Nyssa and Billy look around and take in the scenery.

NYSSA
(contented) “I love this day! Seeing all the plants in the process of photosynthesis! It reminds me of Traken when seeing plants grow in the gardens!”

BILLY
(contented) “Yeah! It is beautiful, isn’t it?” (Pause) “Did you sleep well in the end?”

NYSSA
“Yes. Thank you for putting me in my blanket afterwards.”

BILLY
“That’s alright. I didn’t want you to catch cold.”

NYSSA
(gradually) “Did you sleep well? With your arm and everything?”

BILLY
“Yes, I slept well thanks. My arm’s a little better now.”

Moment of silence, as Nyssa and Billy continue riding on the elephant.

NYSSA
“Thank you for last night, Billy!”

BILLY
“What you mean…me sorting out the tigers? That’s alright! I’m glad you helped out too!”

NYSSA
(self-consciously) “I was actually referring to something else.”

BILLY
“Oh, you mean…when you cuddled me?”

NYSSA
“Yes.”

Moment of silence.

BILLY
“That’s alright. You didn’t mind…cuddling me without a shirt then?”

NYSSA
(softly) “It was nice.”

Another moment of silence.

NYSSA
(softly) “You can put your arms around me if you want to, Billy. In case I fall off the elephant.”

BILLY
“Oh you won’t fall off, Nyssa! I won’t let it happen!”

NYSSA
(coolly) “Then you’d better put your arms around me in case I do fall off, Billy.”

BILLY
(gradually; nervous) “Very well.”

Billy moves closer to Nyssa, as he embraces his arms around her whilst sitting on the elephant. Nyssa relaxes as she takes Billy’s arms around her.

NYSSA
(sighs; contented) “That’s much better!”

Another moment of silence, as the elephant carries on walking through the jungle forest with Nyssa and Billy riding on him and in an intimate embrace with each other.

SCENE #120 – INT – BULLOR’S CHAMBER, UNGOL – DATE: 4198 – DAY, MORNING
Meanwhile, in the Bullor’s chamber of the tower of Ungol, the Bullor roars angrily, furiously and hideously. It pounds its chains on the walls and lets out bloodthirsty growls. The Bullor’s guardians, Cartcra and Corate, enter to meet him.

CARTCRA
“We have come, Bullor! What is it you command?”

BULLOR
“THE TIME HAS COME! I SENSE THE ONCOMING INTRUDERS”

CORATE
(nervously) “What do you want us to do, Lord Bullor?”

The Bullor pulls hard on the chains and pounds on the walls ferociously, as it howls in rage and terror.

BULLOR
(enraged) “I MUST BE SET LOOSE TO OPPOSE THEM!” (to Cartcra; Corate) “YOU CATRCRA AND YOU CORATE, WILL SET ME FREE ONCE I SENSE THE INVADERS HAVE ENTERED! YOU WILL SEND THEM UP TO THE TOWER SO THAT THEY MAY FACE ME!”

CARTCRA
“They bear Quasarin’s sword!”

BULLOR
“I SHALL KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT THAT! I SHALL FIGHT AGAINST THE ONE WHO BARES THE SWORD OF QUASARIN!” (Pause) ““YOU TWO WILL STAY WITH ME NOW, UNTIL THE TIME IS RIPE! I WILL SHAKE THIS CHAMBER OF MINE UNTIL MY STRENGTH IS FULL!”

The Bullor growls and roars more enraged, as it bangs it chains against the walls. Cartcra and Corate remain, as they watch the Bullor’s tantrum.

SCENE #121 – EXT – RETATIF FIELDS, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, MORNING
Back at the Retatif Fields, the Doctor and company have crossed the marshy fields to reach the tower of Ungol. As they stand before Ungol, they look up to see the tower towering above them.

JASON
“Here we are! We’re close to Ungol’s gates! Let’s hope we’ll get in!”

DOROMIR
“There can be no doubt about that, boy! The Great Seal you’ve got helps to unlock the doors!”

LO-JO
“Then I suggest we make a move before we waste any more time!”

DYNDA
“Are you sure that’s wise, pirate?”

MORG
“Shut up, girl!”

DOCTOR
“I quite agree with Dynda actually!”

DELETOS
“What are you implying, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“Well, it’s just the fact we happen to be entering the residence of the Bullor! The Bullor may not like it if it finds we’ve entered his house without permission! And I’m sure he wouldn’t provide us with tea and biscuits!”

DOROMIR
“So you have come to stop our quest, Doctor! Just as the dark lord said!”

DOCTOR
(abruptly; to Doromir) “Yes, Captain! Let me tell you about the ‘dark lord’! Salvador, isn’t it?! He’s the one who warned you against me?! That I had a bad reputation?!”

DOROMIR
(defiantly) “What does the name matter?!”

DOCTOR
“You’d better be careful what he says to you, Doromir! If you and your men have heeded his words, then he has corrupted you!”

DOROMIR
(retorts) “If this is your way of trying to bluff me, it isn’t going to work, Doctor!”

DOCTOR
(angrily) “Salvador was the one responsible for causing those rock-plates to crumble into that Gorge Land! He was trying to kill me! And in doing so, he was trying to kill us all!”

DOROMIR
“Enough! I’m very sceptical about that testimony of yours, Doctor!”

DOCTOR
“And I’m sorry for you being so narrow-minded, Captain Doromir!”

LO-JO
“Sorry to interrupt Doctor, but I want this quest over and done with! I prefer not to have you babbling…”

DOCTOR
(interrupts; sharply) “And you’d better listen to me too, Lo-Jo! For if we go into that tower and we find what you’re looking for, then it will be the death of you! Believe me! I have listened to the words of having desires fulfilled by megalomaniacs and it hasn’t gone down well in my experience! So don’t be seduced so easily by the prettiness of treasure!”

LO-JO
“This treasure was buried by Orio Flinax five epochs ago in this planet’s history! We are the Brotherhood of that scoundrel! And we will not lose our chance to grab all that gold and pocketful of money in our own pockets!”

DOCTOR
“Maybe that’s what you’re supposed to think!”

MORG
“Come on, Lo-Jo! We must get into that tower house now!”

But before the Doctor and party can move to get into the tower, they are soon surrounded by…

DYNDA
(shouts) “Gren! Watch out!”

The Gren jump out from the bushes on the Retatif Fields, as they surround the Doctor, Doromir, Deletos, Dynda and Jason with Lo-Jo, Morg and Pike in a circle.

JASON
(anxious) “They’ve surrounded us!”

DELETOS
“They’ve been hiding in the bushes waiting to take a chance on us! An ambush!”

MORG
“We’ve got to get away from here!”

But as Morg makes a run for it, he gets struck in the leg by a Gren savage’s spear. He cries out in pain, before falling to the ground.

PIKE
(shouts; concerned) “Morg! Morg, lad!”

Pike runs over to help Morg with his injuries, once he’s fallen to the ground.

DOROMIR
(accusingly; to Doctor) “I knew it! I knew you would ruin it for us, Doctor! Curse you, Doctor! Curse you to death and darkness!”

The Doctor remains silent, as he sees the Gren savages surrounding him and his company in a circle. The Gren leader, Ja-Ara, steps forward with Jor-Eliv and Brother Sor beside her.

JOR-ELIV
“We’ve got them, Ja-Ara! We’ve stopped them getting into the tower!”

SOR
(cheers) “And we’ve got the Doctor! Now we can kill him!”

JA-ARA
(yells; to Doctor and company) “WE WON’T, YOU DOGS! WE WON’T LET YOU KILL OUR MUD!”

Just then, a laser beam fires and one of the Gren savages falls to the ground.

DYNDA
(shocked) “Lo-Jo!”

LO-JO
(shouts) “Everyone, move! For the tower Ungol!”

JASON
(shocked) “Did you just shoot that savage…?”

LO-JO
(yells) “Move! Before I shoot you too, Jason lad!”

DOCTOR
“Come on, everyone! Run!”

JA-ARA
(yells) “STOP THEM! STOP THEM!!!”

The Doctor and company run for it, as they make for Ungol and escape from the Gren who chase after them.

SCENE #122 – EXT – MARADOR, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, MORNING
Meanwhile, in a place called Marador, Nyssa and Billy ride on the elephant after having left the forest of Usto behind them. Both are quiet whilst they ride on the elephant through the plains of Marador.

NYSSA
“Billy?”

BILLY
“Yes, Nyssa?”

NYSSA
“You’ve become quiet!”

BILLY
“Have I? I’m usually quiet!”

Moment of tense silence.

NYSSA
“Have I said something to upset you?”

BILLY
“No! Why should you have?”

NYSSA
(gradually) “You wanted to tell me something, Billy! When we were having our dinner date! Before we got interrupted!” (Pause) “What was it?”

BILLY
(reluctantly) “It’s alright. It’s not important. I’ll tell you another time, alright?”

Nyssa becomes uncomfortable whilst riding on the elephant with Billy.

NYSSA
(gradually) “Billy?” (ashamed) “I have a confession to make.”

Another moment of tense silence.

BILLY
“Okay! What is it?”

NYSSA
(gradually) “I…was awake during the nights we spent together on this planet. I heard you talking in your sleep.”

BILLY
“Talking? What you mean…I was been sleep walking?”

NYSSA
“No, Billy!” (Pause) “My people on Traken have unique psychic capabilities embedded in our minds, as you know. I believe that some element in the planet’s atmosphere has enhanced them lately.” (Pause) “I heard your thoughts being processed when you slept in your dreams recently! Your thoughts spoke aloud!”

BILLY
(puzzled) “Which means…?”

NYSSA
(gradually) “I heard you dreaming, Billy! Your subconscious was speaking indirectly!”

BILLY
(perplexed) “Oh, I see. You…heard my thoughts.”

NYSSA
“Yes. You had…dream-like thoughts…about me.”

Moment of silence, whilst Nyssa and Billy ride on the elephant through the Marador plains.

BILLY
(gradually realises; disturbed) “Oh!” (Pause) “I…dreamed about you, did I?”

NYSSA
“Yes!” (Pause; apologetic) “I’m so sorry, Billy! I didn’t mean to eavesdrop! Your opinion about me was fascinating to listen to that…I just couldn’t resist.” (Pause) “I was bitter towards you last three days ago because…I was afraid. Since I was infected, I wouldn’t be able to express my gratitude.” (Pause) “I’m really sorry, Billy! Please forgive me!”

Another moment of silence.

BILLY
(gradually) “Of course I forgive you, Nyssa. I’m not upset by it.” (Pause) “I just hope my dreams weren’t too distressing for you!”

NYSSA
“No, Billy! They weren’t!” (Pause) “They were actually pleasing thoughts for me!”

BILLY
(surprised) “Were they?” (Pause) “I…I haven’t eavesdropped on your dreams, by the way. I think I was asleep all the way through the last few nights we’ve spent on this planet.”

NYSSA
“Don’t worry, Billy. I don’t think it works for you! Since you’re human and I’m Trakenite.”

BILLY
“Oh. Doesn’t it?” (Pause) “Well, I’m glad we got that sorted out!”

Another moment of silence.

NYSSA
“Aren’t you interested in what I heard from your dreams, Billy? About what you thought of me?”

BILLY
(gradually; reluctantly) “It’s not my place to say!” (Pause) “I wouldn’t like to be nosey to know about those sort of things.”

The elephant continues walking through Marador, with Nyssa and Billy riding on him. Nyssa gets apprehensive whilst Billy sits behind her and remains silent.

SCENE #123 – EXT – GATES OF UNGOL, RETATIF FIELDS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, MORNING
Back with the Doctor and company, they arrive at the gates to Ungol’s tower. They pant for breath, as they recover from running whilst standing outside the gates to Ungol.

MORG
(cheers) “We did it! We did it! We made it!”

But they have little time to rest, as they see Gren savages approaching them who howl and scream loudly.

DYNDA
(scared) “We’ve got to get in before those savage barbarians catch us!”

LO-JO
“Quick, Jason! Open the door, lad!”

DOROMIR
“Don’t tell the boy what to do, Mr. Sil! Let him have a chance!”

LO-JO
(barks; impatiently) “Open it I say! Use the seal!”

JASON
(breathlessly) “Alright, Lo-Jo! Alright!” (Pause) “Here we go!”

Jason takes out the Great Seal of Ronzador from his pocket and uses it, as he raises it up against the gates. Very soon, the gates open wide for the Doctor and company to enter.

DELETOS
“We can get inside now!”

DOCTOR
(warningly) “Lo-Jo, I warn you! Be careful where you tread! Don’t let Salvador corrupt you as he’s done to others!”

LO-JO
(ignores Doctor) “You Doctor will come into the tower with me! So will you too, Doromir; Jason and Dynda!”

DYNDA
(protests) “I’m not going to be barked about by you, [you…!”]

LO-JO
(shouts; impatiently) “Get inside!”

Lo-Jo pushes Dynda in, as she, the Doctor, Doromir and Jason enter the tower.

LO-JO
“Morg! Pike!”

MORG
“Yes, Lo-Jo!”

LO-JO
“You stay out here to occupy the savages!”

PIKE
“What?! Are you mad, Lo-Jo?! You can’t ask us to fight these savages!”

MORG
(angrily) “You’re sending us to our deaths, Lo-Jo! Why should we fight for your treasure?! We want it ourselves, you know!”

DELETOS
(concerned) “I quite agree with them, Mr. Sil! You can’t let them fight those savages by themselves!”

LO-JO
“Oh if you’re so concerned about them Mr. Deletos, then maybe you should join them!”

With that, Lo-Jo pushes Deletos out with Morg and Pike. Lo-Jo then enters the towers with the others inside.

DOCTOR
(shouts; protests) “No! Lo-Jo, wait!”

But the gates close shut, once Lo-Jo is inside the tower with the Doctor, Doromir, Dynda and Jason. Morg, Pike and Deletos have been locked outside.

MORG
(shouts; angrily) “Lo-Jo! Lo-Jo, get back here! Let us in!”

PIKE
(panics) “He’s locked us out! He’s ditched us! Just like Orio Flinax did!”

Morg, Pike and Deletos then turn back, as they see the Gren savages getting closer to them.

JOR-ELIV
(cries) “There they are, fellow Gren! At least there are three of them! Ready to kill!”

JA-ARA
(yells) “KILL THEM! KILL THEM ALL, I SAY!”

The Gren savages howl wildly, as they make their approach onto Deletos, Morg and Pike at the gates to Ungol.

DELETOS
(anxiously) “I fear gentlemen…that we have this to contend with!” (breathes deep) “Draw your swords!”

Deletos draws his sword, whilst Morg and Pike reluctantly draw theirs as well as their laser pistols. They ready themselves for the fight, as the Gren savages approach.
