4. The Skull Fortress!

SCENE #34 – EXT – WALDO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
It is now the afternoon. In another part of Waldo, once Lo-Jo, Jason, Morg and Pike have gone, Nyssa survives. She coughs from the dust when she wakes up. Still coughing, Nyssa slowly gets up out of the rubble as she checks herself over. She breathes a sigh of relief.

NYSSA
(relieved) “At least I’m all in one piece.”

Nyssa crawls her way out of the rubble with some determination and exuberance. After crawling out, Nyssa slowly gets to her feet, almost stumbling forward as she regains her balance.

NYSSA
(exhausted) “I must have been quite close to the perimeter of the blast. I just hope Billy and the Doctor haven’t…” (realises) “Doctor; Billy! I must find them!”

She makes her way through the rubble to find her friends.

NYSSA
(slightly annoyed) “Oh this horrid dust gets in my eyes!”

Nyssa coughs again, as she makes her way through. She then stops in her tracks.

NYSSA
(realises) “Billy!” (calls) “Hold on, Billy! I’m coming to get you!”

Determined, Nyssa makes her way over to where Billy is. She reaches the rubble on top of Billy and begins removing it. Billy is unconscious, whilst Nyssa removes the rubble. Eventually, Nyssa pulls Billy out from the rubble onto a free space of ground.

NYSSA
“You must have been caught in the blast when you tried to rescue me!” (laughs nervously) “Silly Billy!”

Once Billy’s out of the rubble, Nyssa comes round to him to check how he is. She then becomes worried, as he’s still unconscious Nyssa pats Billy’s face with her hands to wake him up.

NYSSA
(concerned) “Billy? Billy, can you hear me? Billy?”

No response.

NYSSA
(cries) “Billy?! It’s me, Nyssa! Can you hear me?!”

Still no response from Billy.

NYSSA
(panics) “Oh no! No, he can’t be!” (Pause) “I must loosen his shirt!”

Nyssa then attempts to revive Billy, as she tears open his shirt to reveal his chest. She then starts pressing hard on Billy’s chest, where the heart is, in order to revive him. This doesn’t have any affect.

NYSSA
(anxious; panics) “Billy! I don’t know if I’m doing this right!”

But Billy’s still unconscious, as Nyssa continues pressing hard on his chest.

NYSSA
(cries; panics) “Billy! Billy, wake up! Billy, wake up please! It’s Nyssa!”

But Billy doesn’t wake up.

NYSSA
(thinks; realises) “Wait a minute! Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation!”

Nyssa then goes around the other side of Billy to where his mouth is. She then starts mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on Billy, as she presses her lips to his mouth to give him the kiss of life. She then presses on Billy’s chest again.

NYSSA
(panics) “It’s not working!” (cries) “Come on Billy, help me! You’ve got to wake up! Wake up for me please! Please wake up!”

Still no response from Billy, as Nyssa does everything she can to revive him.

NYSSA
(panics; shouts) “Breathe please Billy, breathe! Don’t die on me please, Billy! Don’t die on me now! Breathe! Breathe!” (Pause) “COME ON!!”

Nyssa keeps pounding on Billy’s chest, still getting no response from him. She then stops pounding Billy’s chest. Billy is still unresponsive.

NYSSA
(distressed; frightened) “No! It can’t end like this! Not again!”

Nyssa is panic-stricken, whilst wildlife repeatedly echoes in the background to add to the tension.

NYSSA
(gradually) “I’ll try mouth-to-mouth resuscitation again! It may do no good but…”

Nyssa does it anyway, as she presses her lips to Billy’s mouth for a second time. Once she does this, Billy breathes again as he wakes up too suddenly. Nyssa lets go of Billy’s lips, as he wakes up coughing and breathing in the oxygen back in his lungs again. Billy sits up, as he slowly calms down after the shock and breathes normally.

BILLY
(coughs) “Nyssa?”

Nyssa breathes a sigh of relief. She moves closer to check on him.

NYSSA
(relieved) “Are you alright?”

BILLY
(breathes deep) “I think so.” (puzzled) “Have I been out long?” (realises) “Why is my shirt torn open?”

Nyssa then lifts Billy’s arm to check his pulse.

NYSSA
“Your pulse is steady. Normal rate per minute.” (irritated) “Don’t do anything like that to me again, Billy! You scared me!”

BILLY
(breathes deep) “Sorry, Nyssa. I didn’t mean to distress you!”

NYSSA
(gradually; relieved) “I’m so glad you’re still alive! I’ve never felt so relieved!”

BILLY
(gradually) “Thank you for saving me, Nyssa!”

Both comfort each other as they hug one another. Eventually they let go.

BILLY
(disorientated) “What…what happened though? I…I don’t remember much!” (Pause) “I remember…I remember we were chased and then…then there was the explosion!”

NYSSA
“I don’t remember much either! It all happened so suddenly!”

BILLY
(realises) “The Doctor! Where’s the Doctor?”

NYSSA
(anxious) “He must be somewhere among this rubble! I’ll find him!”

BILLY
“I’ll help you!”

NYSSA
“No, Billy! You stay where you are! I don’t want you to get up too soon! You need to recover your strength!”

BILLY
(winces) “I think I’m…strong enough, Nyssa! Two heads are better than one!”

NYSSA
(insistently) “I insist, Billy! Stay here! I’ll find the Doctor! I’ll come back for you!”

BILLY
(tired out) “Okay. Don’t be too long.”

Nyssa reluctantly leaves Billy, as she gets up off the ground and begins to search for the Doctor. Billy watches Nyssa go, fiddling with his torn-open shirt.

SCENE #35 – EXT – WALDO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Whilst Nyssa searches for the Doctor, two Gren savages lurk in the shadows of the dark forests nearby. They are Antuss and Volum, the leaders of a Gren hunting party. They see Billy sitting among the rubble of Waldo.

ANTUSS
“So…that filthy scum survived that boom-boom then!”

VOLUM
“At least two did! That girl and boy! The boy’s sitting there for the taking! Let’s kill him now!”

ANTUSS
“No, you stink of elephant poo! We wait here!”

VOLUM
(bitterly) “Why wait, Antuss?! They need to be killed in order for their cleanie mess to be splat out!”

ANTUSS
“They maybe of good use to Ja-Ara! Or perhaps not!” (thinks) “Volum! Send word to Brother Sor that he may be brought here! Take some of the party back with you!”

VOLUM
(sceptically) “Brother Sor? That old man!”

ANTUSS
“He may indeed provide judgement on these two youngins who are so clean and disgusting! He maybe old, but he has lived long enough to know the ways of our people!” (Pause) “Tell him we gather in the precinct of Skull Fortress! Do it now, Volum!”

VOLUM
“Yes, Antuss! I’ll also go back to the other Gren warriors and tell them to join us!”

Volum heads off back to where the Gren hunting party is. Meanwhile, Antuss continues watching Billy sitting in the rubble, as he contemplates his next step.

ANTUSS
“When the time is ripe, those smelly pretty faces shall not beat the vigilance of the Gren and its strength.”

SCENE #36 – EXT – MISTO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
A few metres away from Waldo, in a deep and strange forest called Misto, a snaky slimy creature slithers through the earth as it comes into a glade. The creature transforms from a puddle of mud into the form of a man. Dr. Gun Nett, the Mud Man, slowly rises, as he stands on his two feet.

DR. NETT
(grovels) “Sun! Hot sun! Good!”

Dr. Nett walks over to a tree stump and sits down.

DR. NETT
“I feel cold being naked like this!”

He then sees a piece of linen cloth lying conveniently next to him. He picks it up and wraps it around him where he is coldest.

DR. NETT
(satisfied) “There! That’s better! This linen cloth around my waist should do the trick!”

Eventually, Gun Nett then looks to see something out of the corner of his eye. He picks up a strange ornamented bowl.

DR. NETT
“Yes! Rice! That’s what the voices said! My growth food! To give me strength!”

Taking the bowl in his hand, Nett pours it into his mouth and gobbles down the rice. He takes the bowl away from his mouth once he’s finished. He wipes his mouth clean with his arm, sniffing the air and feeling refreshed.

DR. NETT
(refreshed) “Rice! Yes! The Gren know how to make decent food!”

Nett then starts to feel an excruciating throbbing inside his head as he drops the bowl to the ground.

DR. NETT
(cries; in pain) “My head! My head! What’s happening to me?”

He then hears the mud voice inside his head.

MUD VOICE
“Mud attack! Mutation phenotype! Indicates that desired mutant strains! From original so tight!”

DR. NETT
(cries; in pain) “What? What is it?”

Nett then feels his head ache again, just as Salvador appears before him.

SALVADOR
“It’s the mud, Nett! It needs you to expand! It is restricted within that form you hold! It wants to be free!”

Nett cries out in agony, as the mud voice speaks to him again.

MUD VOICE
“Death in the eyes! Lessons in one! Of DNA repair genes! All that is done!”

DR. NETT
“It…it speaks to me! The mud inside!” (grunts) “I do not understand its words!”

SALVADOR
“You are not supposed to understand! Use your new gift of life! You must attack! And I can tell just who you need to cause pain to those who threaten you!” (Pause) “They’re heading your way! Listen to your instincts! For there is a certain doctor with them!”

Nett listens, as Salvador tells him what to do.

SCENE #37 – EXT – MISTO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Meanwhile, at the edge of the Misto forest, Captain Doromir and Deletos with Dynda and the Doctor proceed with caution through the forest on their quest.

DELETOS
(curiously) “Where are we to make for, Captain? Have you determined our destination?”

Doromir switches on the holographic map he’s got and both he and Deletos look at it to check their destination.

DOROMIR
“Well, Mr. Deletos. We’re in the forest of Misto now. In order to reach where X marks the spot, we have to go through this forest to reach the tree-top of Edolas. Once we’ve arrive there, we make for the great river of Ronzador to reach its temple. Then we come to Gorge Land, pass Usto and cross Marador until we come to the fields of Retatif where the Ungol tower stands.”

DELETOS
“So….we cross the jungle forest to get to Edolas first then.”

DOROMIR
“Right. Whether we’ll meet those scoundrels of Lo-Jo Sil’s there, I’m not certain.”

DOCTOR
(interjects) “Excuse me, I don’t wish to be a back-seat driver, but may I ask what this high and mighty quest is all about?”

DOROMIR
“Do you expect us to fall for that kind of bluff, Doctor?! You know as much as we do why we’re here!”

DOCTOR
“Please Captain Doromir; believe me I’m not trying [to…”]

DELETOS
“Be silent, dog!”

DOCTOR
(ignores Deletos; continues) “And another thing…what’s the name of this planet? Not Earth surely!”

DELETOS
“I told you to be silent!”

DYNDA
(bewildered) “You must be delusional if you don’t know where you are, Doctor.”

DOROMIR
“He knows where he is! Don’t you, Doctor?! Spare us the play-acting!”

DOCTOR
(seriously) “This isn’t a joke, Captain!”

DOROMIR
“Stop it, Doctor!”

DOCTOR
(annoyed) “No! Seriously! I’m not play-acting!”

DOROMIR
(bitterly) “Liar! You are a liar, Doctor! We know your ambition!”

DYNDA
“Junglos!”

DOCTOR
“Sorry? Miss…?”

DYNDA
“Dynda! Dynda with a ‘y’! Welcome to Junglos! That’s where you are, Doctor!”

DELETOS
“Don’t warm up to him, Miss Dynda! That’s exactly what he wants!”

DYNDA
“Relax, boys! Can’t you see from the look of this man’s face that he doesn’t know anything?”

DOCTOR
“Well I do know something otherwise I wouldn’t be here, would I?! Or is that vice-versa?”

DOROMIR
(angrily) “He’s lying through his teeth! Lying with a face of hobgoblins!”

DYNDA
“Must you really be so melodramatic, Captain?! You don’t even know him!”

DOROMIR
(acrimoniously) “We were warned of his coming! He was prophesied by a lord of darkness to disrupt the quest! The quest to recover old Captain Orio Flinax’s treasure and secure it from the tower of Ungol! And that is what we shall do before any fiendish pirates claim their hands on it first!”

DOCTOR
“And from that acrimonious behaviour Captain Doromir, you’ve just answered all my questions! To which I’m eternally grateful!” (Pause; realises) “Wait a minute! A lord of darkness? Who would that be?”

Doromir becomes irritated and turns away.

DOROMIR
“We carry on to Edolas! Deletos, keep hold of our prisoner!”

DELETOS
“Aye, sir!”

Deletos is about to take the Doctor again, before Dynda steps in.

DYNDA
“Err…I can look after the Doctor!”

DELETOS
“Pardon?”

DYNDA
“Unless, you don’t trust me either!” (to Doromir) “Hey, Captain?”

Doromir considers for a moment.

DOROMIR
“Very well.” (to Deletos) “Mr. Deletos, Miss Dynda will take over.”

DELETOS
“Yes, Captain!”

DOROMIR
“Come! This way!”

Doromir and Deletos head off in a north-easterly direction, whilst Dynda takes charge of the Doctor.

DOCTOR
(gradually) “You’re obviously no threat to the captain as I am.”

DYNDA
“I’m not a member of his crew. And I’m trying to find a friend of mine.”

DOCTOR
“Ah, yes! I remember you accusing me and my friends for kidnapping him.”

DYNDA
“I don’t believe you did now. You’re obviously oblivious to what’s going on here.” (intrigued) “So you’ve never been here on Junglos before then.”

DOCTOR
“No! Never heard of it!”

DYNDA
“Then you’re fortunate! This planet has doom written all over its tectonic plates!”

DOCTOR
(stresses) “No really, Miss Dynda! I’ve never heard of this planet! Junglos is a planet that is not part of this universe! Yet it’s here! But why?”

The Doctor and Dynda follow on after Captain Doromir and Deletos. Close by, without anyone realising it, a slimy puddle of mud slithers on the ground behind them.

SCENE #38 – EXT – WALDO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Back at Waldo, Billy waits patiently for Nyssa. Foliage cracks nearby and Billy becomes startled, as he looks around to see where the sound comes from. He can’t see anything.

BILLY
“Nyssa? Nyssa, is that you?”

Rustling echoes nearby and Billy becomes afraid. He then jumps out of his skin, as somebody touches him from behind. Billy looks around and sees Nyssa behind him.

NYSSA
“Easy, Billy! It’s only me!”

BILLY
(relieved) “Oh Nyssa!” (breathes deep) “Did you find him?”

NYSSA
“No. I checked the rubble. But there seems to be no sign of him.”

BILLY
“No sign of him! No sign of an arm or leg trapped underneath rubble?! No sign of his silly hat? Or his stick of celery?”

NYSSA
“I’m afraid not!”

BILLY
“But that can’t be right!”

NYSSA
“Believe me, Billy! I’ve checked everywhere! There’s no trace of him!”

BILLY
(thinks) “Well, he could have got away from that explosion. Perhaps he’s somewhere far away, wherever here is.”

NYSSA
“I’m dreadfully worried about him! He might be under some rubble I haven’t traced yet!”

BILLY
“Did you double check?”

NYSSA
“Of course I did!”

Just then, rustling echoes nearby and it startles Nyssa.

NYSSA
“What was that?”

BILLY
“Don’t know. Probably just the wind.” (Pause) “So what do we do now? We can’t just stay here!”

NYSSA
“There’s nothing we can do, Billy! We don’t know where the Doctor is. Whether he’s trapped or wandering in some part of the jungle.”

BILLY
“Well we’ve got to do something, Nyssa! We can’t just abandon the Doctor if he’s still out there!”

NYSSA
(anxious) “I’m as concerned as you are! But my instincts tell me to wait!”

BILLY
“Well…couldn’t we just…I don’t know…go into the jungle and find him.”

NYSSA
“We may get lost!”

BILLY
“But then again we may not!”

NYSSA
“We may not be able to find our way back here to these ruins if we go off into that jungle!”

BILLY
“We needn’t go far! We can just check to see if there’s any trace of him at the bottom of this hill. Then we can come back up here if there isn’t and think of something else.” (Pause) “I know it’s risky, but what else can we do apart from wait?!”

Moment of silence.

NYSSA
“Maybe you’re right, Billy! Maybe the Doctor has gone into the jungle and there’s a trace of where he went.” (Pause) “We can go down to the bottom of the hill in case he escaped the explosion. If there isn’t a trace, we’ll check up here again.”

BILLY
“A wise suggestion, Nyssa.”

NYSSA
“Let’s go before…”

Rustling echoes again and it startles Nyssa and Billy.

NYSSA
(petrified) “It’s happening again! That sound!”

BILLY
“I told you, Nyssa! It’s probably the wind!”

NYSSA
“But there’s no breeze, Billy!”

The rustling continues and primitive chanting echoes nearby in the jungle forests.

NYSSA
(panics) “And wind doesn’t normally have chanting voices!”

Suddenly, a number of Gren savage warriors leap out from the bushes and trees. They charge at Nyssa and Billy from all sides, carrying spears with them as they howl and yell.

NYSSA
(terrified) “Billy! It’s those savages!”

BILLY
(panics) “Quick! Run Nyssa, before they get us!”

They make a run for it, but are soon cornered by more approaching Gren savages.

NYSSA
“We’re surrounded!”

As the Gren savages close in on around them, Nyssa and Billy are trapped.

BILLY
“They have sharp spears!” (cries; to Gren) “Uh…you wouldn’t hurt us with those things, would you?”

Just then, one of the Gren savages strikes Nyssa with his spear. Nyssa cries out in pain.

BILLY
“Oi! Don’t hurt her!”

Billy runs forward to try and save Nyssa. But he gets knocked out by one of the Gren savages hitting him on the head with the flat of his spear. Billy falls to the ground. The Gren savages laugh and make fun of him, whilst Nyssa kneels down to check on Billy.

NYSSA
(concerned; cries) “Billy! Billy, are you alright?!”

Nyssa tries to help Billy up, as he struggles off the ground after being knocked out.

BILLY
(disorientated) “I’ll be fine, Nyssa. Just didn’t expect that.”

As Nyssa helps Billy, one of the Gren leaders, Antuss, makes his way through the crowd. Nyssa sees Antuss approach and stands up to him.

NYSSA
(challengingly) “What do you want from us?!”

Antuss stands right in front of Nyssa, as he mocks both her and Billy.

ANTUSS
“Judgement! Judgement of smelly stinky intruders!” (to Gren) “You rotten lot! Take them to the Skull Fortress! There Sor will decide!”

Nyssa and Billy soon find themselves being dragged off by Gren savage warriors, as they leave the ruined walls of Waldo behind them.

SCENE #39 – EXT – MISTO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
In the Misto Forest, Doromir and Deletos walk on whilst the Doctor and Dynda follow at a distance.

DOCTOR
“A special mineral contained in the mud you say?”

DYNDA
“One of a kind. We haven’t given it a proper name or definition yet. But analysis readings indicate the mud contains some neogenic properties.”

DOCTOR
“Neogenic? The science for matter to change into something else.”

DYNDA
“The authorities insisted we provide a cure for diseases and sickness that are happening back home.”

DOCTOR
(intrigued) “Authorities? Cure?”

DYNDA
“The human race has advanced! The science and technology we hold today grants us to make these tests to find the antigen and viral we need to ensure humanity’s survival!”

DOCTOR
“How can you be so advanced when there’s still sickness and diseases?!”

DYNDA
(cynical) “Well that’s the ‘authorities’ for you, Doctor! They’ve got all that technology, but they don’t know how to use it! They’re not scientists and they mess up for everyone! The end result is sickness and more hospital beds to be filled!”

DOCTOR
“And that’s what you and Dr. Nett were doing! To clean up the mess!”

DYNDA
(knowingly) “Scientists have been doing dog’s body work for decades!” (Pause) “Did you not know this, Doctor? Aren’t you one of the scientists?”

Before the Doctor can answer…

DOROMIR
(interrupts) “Excuse me, you two! I don’t wish to interrupt your intimate conversation with each other, but do keep up!”

DYNDA
“Your quest isn’t my quest, Captain! And don’t be so cruel! The Doctor’s story’s far more convincing than the one you brought up!”

DOROMIR
“That man’s a wicked wolf in a creamy coat!”

DELETOS
(interjects) “Excuse me, Captain. Should we rest? We’ve been through this forest for quite some time and my feet are killing me!”

DOROMIR
(sighs) “Very well.” (at Doctor) “But none of you let that man out of your sight!”

Doromir walks off in a huff, whilst Dynda and the Doctor sit down somewhere. Deletos keeps watch of the Doctor and Dynda at a fair distance.

DOCTOR
“Obviously the captain has a grudge against me!”

DYNDA
“He says you were expected! To stop their quest!”

DOCTOR
“By a certain lord of darkness, I know.” (Pause) “What do you know of this quest of Captain Doromir’s crew? Do you know what they’re trying to do?”

DYNDA
(gradually) “I think so. There was some business about a thousand years ago…or something like that…about a villainous space pirate who buried his treasure in the black tower of Ungol. Some say the treasure was never reclaimed.”

DOCTOR
“And this captain. His name was…?”

DYNDA
(thinks) “Err…Flinax. Yes, Captain Orio Flinax!”

DOCTOR
“Orio Flinax! Yes, I…Flinax?” (Pause; realises) “Yes I see.”

DYNDA
“Did you come to sabotage their quest, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“No.”

DYNDA
“Do you know about the treasure?”

DOCTOR
“No.”

DYNDA
“Have you met this crew before?”

DOCTOR
“No.” (Pause) “Do you believe me, Miss Dynda?”

DYNDA
“Yes! I believe you!”

DOCTOR
(astonished) “You do? How reassuring! You’re the first person who believes me!”

DYNDA
“I know you and I are in the same escape pod. We’re both captives of the captain. And I’ve got to find my friend Dr. Nett.” (Pause) “Will you help me, Doctor?”

The Doctor considers Dynda’s request.

DOCTOR
“Hmm.” (Pause) “I don’t see why not! Missing people are my speciality!” (Pause) “Let’s see if we can get away unscathed by Mr. Deletos!”

The Doctor gets up before Deletos trains his laser pistol on him.

DELETOS
“Don’t move, Doctor!”

The Doctor stays still, before he sits down again.

DOCTOR
“It seems I’m wanted, Miss Dynda.”

DYNDA
“You must be more popular than I am. And I haven’t been accused of a crime.”

Moment of silence, before Doromir returns in distress as he reunites with the others.

DOROMIR
(cries; distressed) “Deletos! Mr. Deletos! Have your laser pistol ready!”

DELETOS
“Why what is it, sir?”

DOROMIR
“Look, Mr. Deletos! Look!”

The Doctor, Doromir, Deletos and Dynda look to see a snaky puddle of mud on the ground slithering towards them. All four are dumbstruck with amazement.

DYNDA
(amazed) “What…what is that?”

DOCTOR
(astonished) “I don’t know! But it’s moving fast!”

They watch as the mud creatures slithers from side to side to trap them.

SCENE #40 – EXT – MISTO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Still in the Misto Forest, but on the west side, Lo-Jo with Orio the Parrot; Jason; Morg and Pike walk through the dense jungle. On some occasions, they trip over weeds and plants. Morg and Pike are petrified with wild birds squawking and wild animals roaring in the background.

PIKE
(irritated) “Shut up! Shut up, you creepers!”

LO-JO
“Calm yourself, Pike! Not all is silent!”

Screeches of monkeys echo nearby.

MORG
“This isn’t what I signed up for! I’m into penetration of spaceships and apprehension of gold…I mean…apprehension of criminals!” (to Jason) “You hear me, boy? Apprehension of criminals! I would…never, ever, ever steal! Either rich or poor!”

LO-JO
(interrupts) “Yes! Thank you, Mr. Morg! The lad gets it!”

More wildlife noises echo in the background, as it gets on Pike’s nerves.

PIKE
“SHUT UP I SAY! SHUT UP, ALL OF YOU!”

Orio then squawks.

ORIO THE PARROT
(squawks) “Who’s a pretty boy then?” (squawks)

PIKE
“You shut up as well, beaky!”

Orio squawks and Pike lets out a cry of rage.

LO-JO
“What’s the matter with you all?! We’re on the quest to find the treasure! And all you can do is moan and grumble like a bunch of old women!”

MORG
“Argh the place gives me the creeps, Lo-Jo! It plays on the mind!”

PIKE
“It’s a sign! This is a cursed place!”

LO-JO
(concerned) “Here, Jason lad? Are you alright?”

JASON
“Yeah. I’m fine.”

LO-JO
(concerned) “You’re not frightened as Morg and Pike are about this place, are you?”

Orio the parrot then squawks again.

PIKE
“Oh can’t that bird ever shut up?!”

ORIO THE PARROT
(squawks) “Ahoy, ye maties! Ship’s coming!” (squawks)

MORG
(annoyed) “There’s no ship, you dumb-bird! We’re on a planet! A jungle planet!”

ORIO THE PARROT
(squawks) “Ahoy, ye maties! Ship’s coming!” (squawks)

MORG
(annoyed) “We just told you…!”

JASON
(interrupts) “No, Mr. Morg; Mr. Pike! Look!”

PIKE
“Look at what…?” (astonished) “Oh!”

Lo-Jo, Jason, Morg and Pike look, as they see Nyssa and Billy being forced by Gren savages as they head off deeper into the forest.

JASON
“It’s that boy and girl! The ones that were with that Doctor!”

LO-JO
“So it is, Jason lad! So it is!”

ORIO THE PARROT
(squawks) “Ahoy, ye maties! Ship’s coming!” (squawks)

They continue watching, as the Gren escort Nyssa and Billy against their will into the jungle.

SCENE #41 – EXT – MISTO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Meanwhile, in the Misto forest with the Doctor, Dynda, Doromir and Deletos, they watch as the mud puddle starts to change its form.

DELETOS
(astonished) “Captain! That mud skin! It’s changing! It’s starting to rise!”

DOROMIR
“I see it, Mr. Deletos!”

DOCTOR
“Is this a product of one of your experiments, Miss Dynda?”

DYNDA
“No, it isn’t! Gun never did anything like this! This is completely new to me!”

As the Doctor, Dynda, Doromir and Deletos wonder what the mud creature is, the mud voice in Dr. Gun Nett’s head as the Mud Man speak to him.

MUD VOICE
“Oh quick now! The sky so bright! An increasing power bond! The power increases you life!”

The mud creature expands, as it lets out a horribly, hideous scream. It terrifies the living daylights out of Doromir, Deletos, Dynda and the Doctor.

DYNDA
(petrified) “Is…Is that a scream?!”

They watch as the mud creature starts to form a head and cackles out loud.

DELETOS
“W-W-Was that a laugh, Captain? Was that a laugh?”

Without warning, the Mud Man then forms an arm of mud and strikes it at them.

DOCTOR
(cries) “Everyone! Duck!”

Everyone ducks, as a blast of mud strikes at where they once were.

DR. NETT
(cackles with laughter, grovels) “Nothing can stop the Mud Man! Nothing!”

The Mud Man cackles out loud again, whilst the Doctor’s curiosity is aroused.

DOCTOR
(intrigued) “Mud Man?”

SCENE #42 – EXT – SKULL FORTRESS, MISTO – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Meanwhile at the Skull Fortess in the Misto Forest, Nyssa and Billy are horrified by what they see whilst being escorted by the Gren savages behind them.

NYSSA
(horrified) “This place, Billy! Skulls! It’s filled with thousands of skulls!”

BILLY
(horrified) “It’s ghoulish!”

Billy steps into one of the skulls and jumps out of it in fright.

BILLY
(horrified) “I…I just stepped one of them!”

NYSSA
(horrified) “It’s a horrid place! So morbid! Especially in its decorations!”

Nyssa and Billy are then brought before the Gren priest Brother Sor by Antuss and Volum. Brother Sor is a man who has aged in voice and stature.

ANTUSS
(proudly) “We’ve brought them for you, Brother Sor! These are the sinners!”

SOR
“What crimes have these two committed?”

NYSSA
(protests) “Nothing! We’ve committed no crimes!”

VOLUM
“Silence, puny girl!”

Volum kicks Nyssa violently and she cries out in pain.

BILLY
(shouts; angrily) “Leave her alone! If you hurt her again, I’ll…”

But Volum savagely kicks Billy and he too cries out in agony.

NYSSA
(shocked; concerned) “Billy! Billy, are you alright?!”

BILLY
(in agony) “Oh my stomach!”

NYSSA
(to Volum) “Why are you doing this? What have we done to hurt you?”

VOLUM
(bitterly) “Shut up, girl!”

ANTUSS
(to Sor) “You see, Brother Sor! They are clean! They deserve the punishment for their stinkyness and their vile pretty faces!”

SOR
(cruelly) “Poison shall be their reward! Bring me the juicy Pinator bugs!”

Antuss and a few Gren savages obey, as they head off to fetch the Pinator bugs for Brother Sor.

BILLY
(to Sor) “What are you going to do to us? We don’t need to be treated in this way!”

SOR
(bitterly) “The clean and freshness of children like you do not have a place in Ja-Ara’s kingdom! Be thankful she is not here to unleash her wrath on you!”

NYSSA
“Ja-Ara? Who’s she?”

SOR
“One who rules this jungle and I am her faithful obedient servant!”

Antuss returns, carrying a bowl of insects that hiss and buzz inside.

ANTUSS
(proudly) “I bring the insects to you, Sor!”

SOR
“Give them to me!”

Antuss hands the bowl of insects over to Sor. Sor takes the bowl and picks one of the insect out from the bowl.

SOR
(insistently) “Hold the girl down!”

Nyssa is forced down onto her knees, afraid.

NYSSA
(cries; afraid) “No! Don’t do it! Please let me go!”

BILLY
(shouts) “Don’t you dare! Don’t touch her with that insect!”

SOR
(glorified) “Let the venom of this Pinator suck you and make you sick as you walk these forests!”

Sor advances towards Nyssa with the insect.

BILLY
(yells) “No! Don’t!!”

But it all happens so suddenly. Nyssa screams once the insect is on her arm. She struggles to break free from the grip of the Gren savages holding her.

NYSSA
(cries) “Billy! Help me please!”

BILLY
(cries) “Nyssa!”

SOR
(chants) “Bite her! Bite her! Bite her!”

GREN
(chants) “Bite her! Bite her! Bite her!”

All the Gren, including Brother Sor, Antuss and Volum chant for the Pinator insect to bite Nyssa’s skin. Nyssa screams, as the insect bites instantly into her. She then passes out and drops to the ground. The Gren savages hoot in glory once they see Nyssa fall.

BILLY
(yells) “No! Nyssa!”

Billy tries to break free to reach Nyssa, but is held firmly by the Gren savages. The Gren  savages laugh out loud mockingly and cruelly, whilst Nyssa lies on the ground unconscious.

ANTUSS
(chants) “Sucks be to you! Suck be to you! Sucks be to you! Sucks [be to you…!]”

GREN
(chants) “Sucks be to you! Suck be to you! Sucks be to you! Sucks [be to you…!]”

Antuss, Volum and the other Gren savages keep on chanting “Sucks be to you!”, whilst Billy looks on helplessly at Nyssa.

BILLY
(cries) “Nyssa! Please wake up! Nyssa!”

But Nyssa doesn’t respond. Sor then lets out a roar of glory and terrifying rage.

SOR
(roars) “LET ALL KNOW THE WRATH OF THE GREN! ONE WHO IS CLEAN SHALL SURELY DIE! HEAR WHAT SOR SAYS TO ALL! ALL WHO IS CLEAN SHALL SURELY DIE!!!!!!!!!!!”

SCENE #43 – EXT – MISTO, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Brother Sor’s message echoes across the forest of Misto, as the Doctor hears it too.

DOCTOR
(troubled) “Billy! Nyssa!”

But the Doctor has more to worry about, as the Mud Man comes towards him.

DOCTOR
(realises) “Oh no! Not you again!”

DR. NETT
(grovels) “So! You want a piece of me!”

The Doctor attempts to distract the Mud Man, as he picks up a stone and aims it at him.

DOCTOR
“Hello, Mr. Mud Man! Catch this!”

The Doctor bowls the stone at the Mud Man with such agility. However, the Mud Man ducks as he squeezes down into a puddle of mud and the Doctor misses. Amazed and astonished, the Doctor watches as the Mud Man rises back to his solid form and cackles with laughter.

DOCTOR
(amazed; astonished) “It’s not possible! And I’m such a fast bowler!”

The Mud Man then slithers towards the Doctor.

DR. NETT
(mockingly, grovels) “Wrong, blonde boy! Anything is possible…for a dead man!”

The Mud Man then strikes the Doctor at the throat. He holds him up with his muddy hand and the Doctor chokes whilst he’s being held by the Mud Man.

DOCTOR
(cries, chokes) “Help! Can’t breathe!”

The Mud Man laughs out loud, as he tightens his muddy grip on the Doctor’s neck. The Mud Man begins to strangle the Doctor to death.
