REPRISE

NYSSA
(shouts) “No! Stop it! You’re killing him! You’re killing my Billy!”

JA-ARA
(wildly) “THAT’S RIGHT! DON’T STOP UNTIL HE’S DEAD! KILL HIM! KILL HIM! KILL HIM!!!!!”

NYSSA
(shouts) “NO!!!”

Ja-Ara’s wild berating words and Nyssa’s pleas get mixed in with each other, as the Gren savages keep on beating Billy terribly whilst he’s helpless.

SCENE #75B – EXT – ALESKI, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Just then, a sudden streak of rage and determination enters Billy whilst he’s being beaten up. He quickly gets up and howls defiantly, turning on the Gren savages who’ve been beating him up. He runs straight into them and knocks them over. The Gren savages fall to the floor, as Billy becomes so enraged and frantic.

BILLY
(shouts) “Enough! Enough, you scoundrels!”

All the Gren savages are astonished, as Billy picks up a spear dropped from the ground.

BILLY
(shouts) “I’ve had enough of you all! Now let my Nyssa go!”

JA-ARA
(enraged) “NO!” (to Gren) “GREN SONS AND DAUGHTERS! GET HIM AND KILL HIM!!”

A number of Gren savages charge forward, as they make to kill Billy.

NYSSA
(cries) “Billy, be careful! They’re coming for you!”

But Billy fights back, as some certain strength fills him all of a sudden. He uses his spear to knock out some of the Gren savages coming for him. As he fights, he howls angrily as he’s desperately determined to rescue Nyssa.

BILLY
(shouts) “Won’t you mongrels show a hint of mercy?! Let my friend live!”

Billy’s strength goes to an extreme, as he howls loudly and strikes the savages with his spear.

NYSSA
(cries) “Billy! Don’t become like them!”

But Billy however is ruthless in his fight against the Gren savages. He swings his spear around in the air and knocks them all out.

SOR
(astonished) “He’s knocked out half of our tribe’s warriors! He’s stronger than a dozen of trained champions!”

Ja-Ara becomes so angry that she yells and leaps again at Billy, using a spear to fight him. Billy defends himself against Ja-Ara, as she’s so enraged and terribly vicious.

JA-ARA
(shouts) “Your chest shall not be unscratched by anyone! You shall die! You shall be killed!” (howls) “DIE WITH BLOOD IN YOUR MOUTH!”

Ja-Ara strikes her spear against Billy’s chest, as he dodges the fearsome vengeance of the tribe leader. Ja-Ara is relentless, as she howls like mad against Billy. Billy falls to the ground and holds his spear against her, whilst she strikes viciously at him with her spear.

JA-ARA
(yells) “YOU MUST DIE! YOU STINKY SMELLINESS FOULS ME! YOU’RE DISGUSTING! BOTH YOU AND THE GIRL! YOU MUST BLEED!”

Ja-Ara howls, as she strikes her spear again. Her spear breaks Billy’s, as his weapon is broken in half. Ja-Ara laughs madly, as she triumphs in gaining her advantage.

BILLY
(afraid) “Oh dear. You somehow managed to break my spear in half.”

NYSSA
(shouts) “Billy! Get out of there!”

JA-ARA
(chortles) “Now, stinky boy! You will die! Die…tremendously!”

Ja-Ara howls excitedly, as she makes to strike Billy in the chest. But her howl of triumph…

JOR-ELIV
(shouts) “Stop! Ja-Ara, my dear!”

…turns into a howl of rage, as Ja-Ara turns to her husband.

JA-ARA
(enraged) “How dare you interrupt the vital moment?! This smelly specimen that defies all of Gren! You’ve got a nerve Jor-Eliv, you great stupid husband!”

JOR-ELIV
“There is a better way of torturing him, Ja! And the girl!”

JA-ARA
(cruelly) “Oh?! And what dumb-brain idea have you got that is so better to make you think you can splatter on my ugly face?!”

JOR-ELIV
“The girl is ready to be sacrificed, Ja!”

JA-ARA
(sardonically) “Duh! Don’t you think I know that?!”

JOR-ELIV
“It would be better to humiliate the boy by seeing the girl he loves die before his eyes! You can see from the way he attempts to save the puny girl that he’s infatuated with her.”

SOR
“It’s true! I have seen the boy and girl together! He was desperate for the girl to wake, when the bug I put on her bit her skin!”

BILLY
(shouts; pleads) “Please! Listen to me! You can’t…”

NYSSA
(cries) “Billy! Don’t say anything! You’ll be encouraging them!”

BILLY
(shouts) “But they’re going to kill you, Nyssa!”

JOR-ELIV
“See! See, my dear! Let the boy watch his girlfriend’s death, so that he may suffer and know torturous pain!”

JA-ARA
(eager) “That is absolutely brilliant, husband!” (to Gren) “Take them both to the sacrificial altar! Prepare the girl to be tied to the stake! There the boy shall watch his pretty little girl die! Take them now!”

The Gren savages laugh mockingly, as they take both Nyssa and Billy away to the sacrificial altar.

BILLY
(shouts; pleads) “No! Please! She’s innocent! Don’t hurt her please!”

NYSSA
(upset) “They’re not listening, Billy! They won’t listen to us!”

Ja-Ara laughs maliciously, whilst Nyssa and Billy are being taken away.

SCENE #76 – EXT – EDOLAS, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Back at the central tree of Edolas, the Mud Man and the Gren savages led by Elar-Jom and Antuss continue attacking the Doctor and friends. At one point, the Doctor and Dynda duck out of the way to see how the Mud Man continues his attack.

DOCTOR
(intrigued) “This is a very odd occurrence! This Gun Nett is obviously able to change his form into any mud shape he wishes.”

DYNDA
(shocked) “What’s happened to that man? I know I was right to worry about him, but I didn’t think he’d become this!”

DOCTOR
(cries) “Dynda, get down!”

Dynda gets down as the Doctor tells her to, whilst the Mud Man flies over their heads, cackling out loudly as he misses. Meanwhile, the Gren savages spot Jason before them.

ELAR-JOM
“Look! There’s a boy in fancy clothes hunched up against a big branch!”

ANTUSS
(gruesomely) “Let’s see if we can cut his tongue out!”

Antuss charges forward at Jason with a spear in his hand.

ELAR-JOM
(shouts) “Antuss, you idiot! Get back here! GET BACK!”

But Antuss ignores Elar-Jom, as he and Jason are about to fight each other.

ANTUSS
(savagely) “Fight, you alien! Fight like a man!”

JASON
(courageously) “I fight willingly.”

Jason uses his sword Quasarin to fight Antuss. Jason he knocks the spear out of Antuss’ hand and strikes him in the arm with his sword. Antuss cries out in pain.

ANTUSS
(shouts) “No fair! I haven’t even started yet!”

JASON
(gleefully) “Obviously you haven’t seen a blade like mine!!”

Antuss growls angrily, whilst the other Gren savages take his place and fight against Jason. Jason fights back as he uses his sword against them. The Doctor and Dynda watch as Jason fights.

DOCTOR
“The sword certainly has a name to live up to!”

DYNDA
“Never mind about the sword! We’ve got to help Jason!”

DOCTOR
“You help, Jason! I have to rescue Nyssa! If these Gren are going to sacrifice her, I’ve got to stop them!”

DYNDA
“Here! Take this!”

Dynda hands something over to the Doctor.

DOCTOR
“A laser pistol?”

DYNDA
(insistent) “Take it! You’ll need it to kill the savages!”

DOCTOR
“I don’t kill people, Dynda! I’d rather take my chances without it, thanks!”

DYNDA
(contemptuously) “These Gren will kill without mercy! Don’t expect a compromise! Nor negotiating with them!”

Dynda then turns back to see Jason struggling to keep up the fight with the Gren savages, as he uses his sword Quasarin.

DYNDA
“I’ve got to rescue Jason! Go, Doctor! Either take the pistol with you or not!”

DOCTOR
“Take care, Dynda! And be careful!”

The Doctor makes a run for it, whilst Dynda heads for Jason. But before the Doctor gets to a place to descend from the tree, he gets caught by a number of Gren savages. They grab hold of him as they point their spear-blades at him. The co-ordinator for the Doctor’s capture is Elar-Jom, as she approaches him.

ELAR-JOM
(threateningly) “The Mud Man wants your guts ripped out, Doctor! Think you can escape from us?!”

The Doctor gasps for breath, as he’s held by the Gren savage’s spear-blades. Dynda then sees the Doctor being caught by the Gren savages.

DYNDA
“Oh no!” (calls) “Hold on, Doctor! I’m coming! [I’m…”]

Dynda is about to reach the Doctor, before she’s jumped upon by giant rock-hard hands made out of mud. Dynda screams once she’s jumped on, as the Mud Man with Gun Nett’s head appears before her, still holding onto her with his giant rock-hard muddy hands.

DR. NETT
“Hello, my dear!”

DYNDA
(squirms) “Get off me! Get off me, please!”

DR. NETT
“You think I can’t hurt you, don’t you?! Oh but I can hurt you, girly!”

Nett tightens his grip with his mud hands over Dynda’s arms, as she cries out in pain.

DYNDA
“Gun! Please listen to me! You’ve got to stop doing this!”

DR. NETT
“See why I’m called…the Mud Man?!”

Gun Nett laughs, as he towers above Dynda. Jason keeps fighting the Gren savages led by Antuss, before he sees the Doctor caught by Elar-Jom and her Gren savages and Dynda caught by the Mud Man.

JASON
(calls) “Doctor! Dynda!”

The Doctor, whilst still being caught by Elar-Jom and her Gren savages, attempts to break free as he calls to Dynda.

DOCTOR
(calls) “Dynda! Help is on the way! Just hold on!”

ELAR-JOM
(threateningly) “You stay where you are, Doctor man!”

Whilst the Doctor struggles to break free to reach Dynda and whilst Jason fights Antuss and his Gren savages, Dynda struggles as she’s held by Gun Nett the Mud Man.

DYNDA
“Gun! Listen to me! You’ve got to…”

DR. NETT
(shouts) “Stop calling me that, woman! There is nowhere you will…!”

The Mud Man then stops, as he stares hard at Dynda. He begins to recognise her.

DR. NETT
(gently) “Dynda? Dynda is that you?”

DYNDA
(hopeful) “Gun! Yes Gun, it’s me! It’s your Dynda! Remember your Dynda?”

Moment of silence.

DR. NETT
“You…you did this to me! You caused me to be like this!”

DYNDA
“What?! No, Gun! I did nothing of the sort! What are you talking about?”

DOCTOR
(calls) “Dynda!” (panics) “Dynda, look out!”

But the Doctor’s cry come too late, as Nett explodes his face into a living horror. His face becomes hideous and frightening. Dynda screams, as she sees this horrific terror that Nett has become before her eyes.

DYNDA
(squirms) “Oh God! OH GOD, HELP ME!!!”

DR. NETT
(shrieks; enraged; grovels) “YOU DON’T DESERVE YOUR LIFE! YOU DON’T DESERVE MY LIFE!!! YOU KILLED ME! YOU MADE ME THIS WAY!!!”

DYNDA
(cries) “Please! Don’t, Gun! DON’T!!!”

DR. NETT
(shrieks; enraged; grovels) “I WANT MY LIFE! I WANT MY LIFE BACK! I WANT YOUR BLOOD! I WANT TO HEAR YOU SCREAM!!!!!”

The Mud Man encases his entire mud body all over Dynda. He squeezes her and Dynda gasps for breath as she becomes trapped.

DOCTOR
(cries) “DYNDA!!!”

SCENE #77 – EXT – ALESKI, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
At where the sacrificial altar is in the Gren village of Aleski, Gren savages chant and hoot as they attend the ceremony where the sacrifice for Nyssa is to take place. Billy gets brought forward through the crowd, as he’s pushed by some really tough Gren savage hunter boys. They bully Billy and push him to the ground, with his face hitting first. The rest of the Gren savages laugh at him. Frustrated and upset, Billy gets up from the ground to turns to the Gren savages.

BILLY
(shouts) “There’s no need to push, you know…”

But Billy’s words are replaced by a gasp of breath escaping him, as one of the hunter boys holds a spear-knife to his throat. Billy then sees Jor-Eliv and Brother Sor before him.

JOR-ELIV
(gloatingly) “There’s no point trying to get clever with us Gren, boy! Your smelliness will do no good to violate sacred lands of Ja-Ara’s!”

The Gren savages then cheer loudly, as they look to see Ja-Ara stepping onto the platform.

SOR
“Look! Onto the platform! Ja-Ara leads the ceremony! And she brings the girl with her!”

Nyssa struggles with the Gren savages, as they drag her up onto the platform with Ja-Ara.

NYSSA
(cries) “No! No, don’t! Please, let me go! Please have mercy!”

But the Gren savages ignore Nyssa, as they laugh mockingly at her.

BILLY
(disgusted) “You scoundrels! Can’t you see her suffering for heaven’s sake?!”

But the Gren savages ignore Billy, as they look up at Ja-Ara. Nyssa still struggles with the Gren savages that hold her.

JA-ARA
(out loud) “Everyone shall see this! Everyone shall see this puny wretch die! As is the word of the Mud Man!” (to Gren) “You lot! Tie the girl to the stake!”

The Gren savages holding Nyssa do as Ja-Ara says, as they drag her with them to the centre of the platform.

NYSSA
(cries) “No! Help me! Somebody please! Billy! Billy, where are you?!”

BILLY
(shouts) “Nyssa! Nyssa, I’m here!”

NYSSA
(cries) “Make them stop, Billy! Please make them stop!”

Billy tries to break free, but the Gren savages holding him are ruthless to prevent him escaping. The Gren savages holding Nyssa are also ruthless, as they tie her up to the stake on the platform.

BILLY
(cries; anxiously) “I can’t, Nyssa! I’m sorry I can’t! These crooks won’t let me go!”

JA-ARA
(triumphantly) “Yes! Tie her up! Then chain her up! Let her arms dangle!”

The Gren savages then chain Nyssa’s arms up to a great height in the air. Once they chain her up, Nyssa struggles to break free as she shakes her arms in desperation, unable to break free from her bonds.

NYSSA
(cries) “Please! Help! Billy, help! Help Billy, help!”

BILLY
(shouts) “Hold on, Nyssa! Hold on, Nyssa dear!”

Whilst Nyssa’s determined to break free from her bonds and Billy’s determined to break free from the Gren savages holding her, Ja-Ara shouts out loud to the whole Gren congregation.

JA-ARA
(shouts; out loud) “The girl is ready! Let sacrifice…commence!”

The Gren savages chant mockingly and viciously, in words of their language, as Nyssa struggles to break free from her chains and suffers terribly whilst Billy looks on anxiously.

SCENE #78 – EXT – EDOLAS, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Back in Edolas, the Mud Man terrifies the living daylights out of Dynda in his monstrous frenzy. The Doctor is still held by the Gren savages led by Elar-Jom and Jason still struggles in his fight against the Gren savages, as he’s being overpowered by Antuss.

ANTUSS
“He who dares strikes the captain of hunters dies!”

JASON
(cries) “No! Don’t do it!”

Just as Antuss is about to strike Jason, a sudden eerie wavelength echoes as it spreads across the whole central platform of the main tree of Edolas. This wavelength causes the Mud Man to scream in rage and agony, as he releases Dynda and jumps off her. He slithers away weakened and screaming, as he reverts back to his normal self as Gun Nett.

DR. NETT
(screams) “Agghh!! What’s happened to me?! No! What have I done?!!!”

Nett shrieks in rage, as he slithers away quickly from Dynda. Dynda gets up, as she watches Nett leave her and about to jump from the platform of the main tree of Edolas.

DYNDA
“Gun! Gun, come back! Gun!”

Nett cries as he jumps off the tree platform and falls to the ground. The wavelength also affects Elar-Jom, Antuss and the rest of the Gren, as they react in pain and deviate from their intended victims.

ANTUSS
(shouts) “Elar! ELAR!! That noise! It’s hurting me ears!”

ELAR-JOM
(cries) “Quick everyone! Muddy’s gone! Let’s get off this mad bark! JUMP!!!””

Elar-Jom and Antuss jump off the tree yelling, as do the other Gren as they retreat.

JASON
(astonished) “Doctor! They’re all leaving!”

DOCTOR
(intrigued) “Yes, Jason! And so are Lo-Jo and the pirates!”

This is confirmed, as Lo-Jo, Morg and Pike have woken up from their unconscious state and react in agony from hearing the wavelength.

MORG
(yells) “Lo-Jo! We must get away from this cursed tree-house!”

PIKE
(grunts) “Yeah! I don’t like it! It’s not nice!”

LO-JO
(cries) “Come on, lads! Let’s jump and be on our way! Leave these mad people to their fancy parlour!”

The pirates get up, whilst Orio the Parrot squawks flying off Lo-Jo’s perch and into the air.

ORIO THE PARROT
(squawks) “Shiver me timbers! Pieces of sulphate!” (squawks)

Orio the Parrot then flies off. Morg and Pike jump off the tree, crying in terror, whilst Lo-Jo turns back to the Doctor.

LO-JO
(threateningly; to Doctor) “We’ll meet again…Doctor! Don’t let your hopes doubt that!”

Lo-Jo crows, as his mechanical legs contain rockets in his boots and he blasts off from the central platform of the main tree of Edolas.

JASON
(cries) “Look! Lo-Jo’s got rockets in his boots!”

Lo-Jo flies off as he zooms down from the trees into the forest below. Jason is about to run off…

JASON
“We must get after him! Stop him getting the treasure!”

…but the Doctor grabs hold of him and stops him.

DOCTOR
“No, Jason! Let him go! He’s bound to come after us again soon!”

The whirring wavelength sound then stops. It gets replaced by a series of bleeps and electronic sounds mixing in together. The Doctor and Jason track the sound of bleeps, as they see that the main Edolas terminal is working.

JASON
“Doctor! That computer terminal!”

DOCTOR
“Yes! It’s now fully active! It’s responded to our presence here finally! It must have been responsible for causing the wavelength!”

JASON
(bewildered) “But why has it affected that mud monster; the Gren; Lo-Jo and his pirates, but not us three, Captain Doromir and Deletos?”

The Doctor is about to respond, before Dynda sobs mournfully nearby. The Doctor and Jason turn to see her.

DYNDA
(sobs) “Gun! My darling Gun! What have they done to you? What have those savages done to you?!”

Dynda continues sobbing, whilst the Doctor turns to Jason.

DOCTOR
“Perhaps you can find out about what caused that wavelength from the terminal, Jason. I’ll go to check up on Dynda. If that’s alright with you?”

JASON
“Yes. Yes, I’ll do that.” (concerned) “Poor Dynda.”

DOCTOR
“Don’t worry, Jason. I’ll handle this.”

Jason goes over to the main computer terminal of Edolas, whilst the Doctor goes to Dynda as she sobs away. The Doctor kneels down to comfort her.

DYNDA
(sobs) “Why?! Why has this happened?! To my Gun Nett?!”

DOCTOR
(sympathetically) “I’m sorry, Dynda. I’m sorry about Gun Nett.” (Pause) “But you must be strong! For his sake!”

DYNDA
(sobs) “We were supposed to get married, he and I. And now he’s become this…horrible thing! I just can’t bear it!”

Dynda breaks down into tears, whilst the Doctor tries to reassure her.

DOCTOR
(reassuringly) “Dynda! Listen to me! You have to be strong! I don’t know why or how Gun has become that creature, but I’ll do everything I can to put it right! Please, you must trust me!”

Once the Doctor finishes, Dynda tries to wipe her eyes and stop crying. She looks to the Doctor.

DYNDA
“Yes, Doctor. I do trust you!”

Moment of silence.

DYNDA
(puzzled) “Something happened to him to make him run away. I heard a strange noise.”

But before the Doctor can respond, a clear, soft, silky voice speaks.

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“The violence has stopped!”

Startled, the Doctor and Dynda stand up from the platform and approach the computer terminal with Jason.

DOCTOR
“What was that, Jason?”

JASON
(startled) “I-I didn’t say anything! I didn’t even touch anything!”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“You three! You are not violent! You and the others that sleep!”

The Doctor, Dynda and Jason are more startled as the computer speaks.

DYNDA
“What others? Doromir and Deletos?”

JASON
(astonished) “Doctor! There’s something in the tree speaking to us!”

DOCTOR
(realises) “Of course! The tree! It’s the computer in the tree that speaks to us!” (to Edolas) “You caused that wavelength, didn’t you?!”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“Violence is prohibited in Edolas!”

DOCTOR
(to Dynda; Jason) “It must be the living conscience in the tree that’s speaking through the computer to us! It’s the only direct point of contact that Edolas is able to speak!” (Pause) “Trees have life in them too as well as feelings! I’ve had experience of encountering trees like this myself before!”

JASON
(to Edolas) “We didn’t come to cause harm! Honest, we didn’t!”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“We know of your purpose in Edolas! Your reason to seek knowledge!”

JASON
(to Doctor) “It knows we’re here to get the information! About the quest!”

DOCTOR
“Yes.” (to Edolas) “Tell me err…what do I call you…great voice of…Edolas?”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“Your business is pressing! The knowledge possessed in the souls of tree-herders cannot be delayed by foolery or triviality!”

DOCTOR
(affronted) “Well I like that! I was only being polite…”

JASON
(interrupts, to Edolas) “Can you help us? Provide guidance on how to retrieve Flinax’s treasure?”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“We can! We know the path and how tasks are meant to be carried out!”

DYNDA
“Well, can it be done? The quest I mean? Can we actually get the treasure?”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“All things can be done! The quest bearers must have the path laid out in the map created by Orio the Blackheart! They must also know to collect something when approaching the Temple of Ronzador’s river…for that is where you must go!”

DOCTOR
“To Ronzador. We go to Ronzador.”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“You must reach the temple’s road! Make your way on the road until you come to Ronzador’s door and enter.”

DYNDA
“Hmm. Sounds easy enough.”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“One of you bears the sword of Quasarin.”

JASON
“Yes! I do! I bear the sword of Quasarin!”

Jason takes the sword out of his sheath.

JASON
“See! I hold it in my hands here!”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“The sword shall be used to unlock the doors of Ronzador’s temple as well as Ungol’s tower-house. You must also use the sword to unlock the chest that keeps the Great Seal of Ronzador. That must be used when approaching the tower of Ungol and defending yourselves from the unfriendly eyes of Bullor!”

DYNDA
“So. The Bullor has red eyes that burn you alive. How exciting.”

DOCTOR
“I’m starting to get more curious than ever about the tower of Ungol; its bible and of its quest. And of this planet.”

JASON
“Quiet, you two! We’re getting to the exciting part! The treasure!” (to Edolas) “Go on, computer! What about the treasure? What happens when we find it?”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“Once Bullor and Ungol have fallen, the chamber of treasure must be unlocked by the Great Seal. Then you shall gain entry into the chamber to unravel the wonders of the universe and gain all desires!”

DOCTOR
“And that’s it? That’s all the information you give about the quest?!”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“All is given! No-more can be said for you to know.”

DOCTOR
“But…but what about the big bible in Ungol? Does that have a part to play…?”

VOICE OF EDOLAS
“The quest must be swift for those who wish to gain treasure! Delay no further! For time is short! And sleep must be now!”

The whirring of the Edolas computer systems dies down, as the voice of Edolas speaks no longer speaks. The main terminal shuts off.

DOCTOR
(cries) “Hello?! Wait, hang on! You…you can’t just switch off like that…”

But it is too late, as the Edolas computer has finally switched off altogether.

DYNDA
(wryly) “Well, that’s charming! Didn’t even say goodbye or wish us luck!”

DOCTOR
(sighs) “Must have gone into sleep mode now!”

JASON
(excited) “At least we have the information we need!”

DOCTOR
“No, Jason! Not all information is given! Not for me at any least!”

JASON
“Oh never mind about your bible, Doctor! We must get off from this tree and make for the Great River of Ronzador!”

They’re about to move on before…

DYNDA
“Wait! What about them? We can’t just leave those two!”

JASON
“Captain Doromir and Mr. Deletos?”

DOCTOR
“We’ll take them with us!”

DYNDA
“It won’t be easy to have them! They think you’re a bad man, Doctor!”

DOCTOR
“Yes I haven’t forgotten, Dynda! But my friend Nyssa is about to be sacrificed by the Gren shortly and we must get on while we may! Even if Jason insists we carry on!”

DYNDA
“Of course! Sorry, Doctor!” (to Jason) “Come with me, Jason! Let’s wake up your friends!”

JASON
“Yes, Dynda!”

Jason and Dynda head off to wake up Doromir and Deletos. Meanwhile the Doctor is about to find a way to climb down.

SCENE #79 – EXT – EDOLAS, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Meanwhile, at the bottom near the foot of the tree of Edolas, Lo-Jo; Morg and Pike are hiding and waiting in some foliage and bushes. Orio the Parrot is perched on Lo-Jo’s shoulder again. Morg becomes impatient and Pike gets fidgety as he moves about a lot.

MORG
(angrily; to Pike) “Will you stop moving and getting fidgety, you dumbbell!”

ORIO THE PARROT
(squawks) “Dumbbell!” (squawks)

PIKE
(anxious) “Sorry, Morg! I’ve got ants in my pants! And they don’t half itch!”

Morg gets even more impatient as he turns to Lo-Jo.

MORG
(impatiently; to Lo-Jo) “What are we doing here, Lo-Jo?! Why are we lurking like a lioness waiting to catch her prey in these…dratted bushes?!”

PIKE
“Yeah? When are we going to move?!”

LO-JO
“We move when I say we move! Stop whining, you two!” (to Pike) “And there is no bathroom for you Pike!”

PIKE
(annoyed) “Thanks, Lo-Jo. But what are waiting for anyway!”

LO-JO
“We’re waiting for the sun to shine on that Doctor when he gets down here. He and his pretty friends should…” (Pause; realises) “Hark!”

MORG
“What is it?!”

LO-JO
(enthused) “Look, me hearties! Here they come now!”

The pirates watch, as they see the Doctor, Dynda and Jason get down from the tree-tops. They bring Doromir and Deletos with them.

DYNDA
(awed) “It’s amazing even from down here! These trees looking so tall when you’re on the ground is better than standing on them!”

DOCTOR
(agreeably) “It most certainly is, Dynda! Couldn’t have put it better myself!”

JASON
“I’m so glad that you Mr. Deletos and you Captain Doromir weren’t dead as Lo-Jo proclaimed!”

DELETOS
“We are glad too to be fortunate in being alive! But why do you consort with the enemy, boy?! Don’t you realise that we’re being led by an evil man!”

DOROMIR
(appalled) “Mr. Drodo, I’m shocked by you! I would have thought you’d have more sense than to trust this man!”

JASON
“He isn’t as he was claimed, Captain! The Doctor has turned out to be an honourable person!”

DOROMIR
“Then he has obviously indoctrinated you!”

DYNDA
(annoyed) “Can we debate about this some other time please?”

DOCTOR
“Dynda’s right! We must make for the Gren camp now while there’s a chance Nyssa’s alive!”

DOROMIR
(defiantly) “I do not take likely to your word, Doctor! I don’t see why I…”

DOCTOR
(interrupts) “Now you listen to me, Captain! I don’t care what opinions you have about me! But you are going to help us whether you like it or not!”

DOROMIR
(resilient) “And you should know that I do not adhere to criminals, sir!”

DELETOS
“Captain, sir! We don’t seem to have a choice since this man has the upper hand on us!”

DOROMIR
“I will not submit!”

DELETOS
“If Master Drodo is willing to have a heart to chance this man, then surely we must do the same!”

DOROMIR
“Salvador was insistent…”

DOCTOR
(interjects) “Yes let me tell you about Salvador, Captain Doromir!”

DYNDA
(shouts, interrupts) “Boys! BOYS! Let’s go on and rescue this girl the Gren are going to kill!”

DOROMIR
“What’s the girl to me when I know she’s with the Doctor?”

DOCTOR
(angrily) “Nyssa’s life will be on your conscience if you refuse to help me, Captain!”

DYNDA
“If you stop being so stubborn Captain, somebody’s going to make you help us!”

DOROMIR
“Such as?”

JASON
“Me! I will force you to help the Doctor if you don’t, Captain Doromir!”

DOCTOR
“It’s alright, Jason; Dynda! We’ll leave Captain Doromir to be eaten alive by savages or some wild animal if he persists in being so stubborn.”

Moment of silence.

DOROMIR
(groans) “Very well. I will go with you” (to Doctor) “But I still don’t trust you, Doctor! Be very, very careful!”

DOCTOR
“Come on! The Gren camp must be this way!”

The Doctor, Dynda and Jason take Doromir and Deletos with them, as they head off deeper into the jungle. Whilst they go…

PIKE
“We must follow them!”

MORG
(sardonically) “Duh! Didn’t think we didn’t know that, Pike?!”

LO-JO
“Pike may well be an idiot, Morg! But you must know that his words have an element of emphasis!”

PIKE
“Do they? Oh thank you, Lo-Jo!”

LO-JO
(stresses) “We must follow them, certainly! So…we must do it quietly, secretly…and cautiously!” (Pause) “Let’s go! And keep your laser pistols armed!”

MORG
(excited) “I can’t wait to get my hands on one of those lily-livered scums!”

PIKE
“Nor I!”

Lo-Jo, Pike and Morg sneak their way through the forest, as they follow after the Doctor and company. They themselves do not realise that they are being followed by Elar-Jom and Antuss.

ANTUSS
“Those stinky pong-pong guys are heading in the direction of our camp!”

ELAR-JOM
“We must follow them, Antuss! If they go into the village, they must not get out! Come! Follow me!”

With that, Elar-Jom and Antuss follow after the pirates, whilst the pirates follow after the Doctor, Dynda and Jason with Captain Doromir and Deletos.

SCENE #80 – EXT – JUS PATH, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Meanwhile, the Mud Man as Gun Nett has a bowl of rice. He gobbles the rice down, as he sits on the branch of a tall tree in a deep part of Junglos. It is on the path of Jus that is in between Edolas and Aleski. As Gun Nett sits on the tree, he throws the bowl of rice down to the floor. He then holds his head in his hands in shame and sobs away underneath, as he’s dreadfully upset at what’s just happened.

DR. NETT (V’O)
“Can’t control myself. I almost killed Dynda!”

Nett then cries out in pain.

DR. NETT (V’O)
“This…this body of mine! The mud all over me! I must…I must get rid of it!”

Nett lets out a cry of agony, as he becomes desperate and sobs away bitterly.

SALVADOR
(fierecly) “Do you do nothing else but whimper and wail like a baby?!”

Nett cries out in horror, once he sees Salvador before him.

DR. NETT
(angrily) “You! You did this to me! You made me into this…this monster!”

SALVADOR
“You must be grateful, you pathetic dote! With the power of the mud you hold in your body, you are invincible! Is that what you wanted as a boy?!”

DR. NETT
“No! I don’t care about invincibility! I hate it!”

SALVADOR
“Liar!”

DR. NETT
“I just want to do my job! To save lives! Cure diseases! That’s who I am! Gun Nett, the life saver! And I want my Dynda back! I want to marry her!”

SALVADOR
(bitterly) “YOU ARE STUPID, NETT! The power you hold gives you more than you desire! Your darkest wishes have given you all you require!”

DR. NETT
“Shut up and leave me alone, please!”

SALVADOR
“You have not destroyed the Doctor!”

DR. NETT
“Blows be to the Doctor being destroyed! I told you I don’t care!”

Nett then lets out a cry of agony, as he hears voices inside his head.

MUD VOICE
“You are a mutant! You are my son!”

Nett contorts in pain to the mud voice speaking to him!

DR. NETT
(in pain) “Agh! Get out! GET OUT OF MY HEAD!”

MUD VOICE
“Our blood is your blood! Symbiotic! First blood! Congeal! Fortune!”

DR. NETT
“SHUT UP! GET OUT MY HEAD!!!”

MUD VOICE
“Whispers and circles in the wind!”

Nett contorts even more, as Salvador gloats him.

SALVADOR
(gloatingly) “You can never escape your destiny! You have absorbed this new life in your own and can never be rid of it!”

Nett agonises more, as the sunlight shines on him. He begins to breathe it in deeply.

DR. NETT (V’O)
“Can’t get it off! I can’t stop this! Won’t let it go of me! Can’t…Mama! Mama! Papa? I should never have touched it! Get it off me! Off me!”

MUD VOICE
“We made you a dog! We made you a god! We made you a king!”

Eventually, the Mud Man regains his strength. He becomes fully in control, but not in the way he expected.

SALVADOR
(pleased) “Good! Now that you know your place, you must ‘shut up’ and watch! For you must dispose of this girl Nyssa and this boy Billy that the Doctor is so fond of! Wait until the Doctor and his friends pass by!”

Nett looks down from the tree he’s on, as he sees the Doctor, Jason and Dynda with Captain Doromir and Deletos walking on the path to the Gren village.

DOCTOR
(to Jason) “How far is this Gren camp from here, Jason?”

Jason switches on the holographic map.

JASON
“About a mile away! We should be there before long!”

DELETOS
“You do realise, all of you, that we are treading into the territory of savages?!”

DOROMIR
“It is exactly what the Doctor wants! Not to save his friends, but to kill us!”

The Doctor and company walk further on the path of Jus. Meanwhile, Nett turns into the Mud Man and chortles in mocking laughter.

DR. NETT
(grovels) “Yes, my lord. I understand…and follow!”

The Mud Man slithers off from the tree. He stealthily makes his way down to follow the Doctor and company to the village of the Gren in Aleski.

SCENE #81 – EXT – ALESKI, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
Back at the sacrificial altar in the Gren village of Aleski, the Gren savages continue chanting wild words as they mock Nyssa who is about to be sacrificed. Gren men and women hoot and chant savagely, whilst Nyssa is tied to the stake and unable to break free from her chained bonds. She suffers terribly, as the heat, exertion and disease gets to her.

NYSSA
(gasps) “Water! Please, I want water! Let me have some water!”

The Gren savages, including Ja-Ara; Jor-Eliv and Brother Sor laugh mockingly at Nyssa. Billy desperately tries to break free from his Gren captors.

BILLY
(cries) “Stop this! STOP THIS!”

JA-ARA
(cruelly) “Is this humiliating enough for you then, boy?! Good! I’m thrilled to see the anguish all over your face! It delights the animal in me!”

BILLY
(cries) “I’m begging you! Stop it and let her go! She’s done nothing to you!”

JA-ARA
“She stinks and smells like a clean girl! That is reason enough for a Gren to bite her, spit her and burn her up!”

NYSSA
(cries; weakly) “No! Please! Leave Billy alone! Isn’t it enough that you’re burning me on the stake to cause Billy distress?!”

JA-ARA
(calls; to Gren) “You lot! Put your torches to light! Set fire to the girl’s flesh!”

Flames are set alight on some wooden torches, as a few Gren torch-bearers hold them and bring them to Nyssa tied to the stake. Nyssa struggles desperately to break her chains apart. The Gren savages chant and laugh mockingly. It grows louder, causing more anxiety and distress for Billy.

JA-ARA
“Die, little girl! Die like death deserves you!”

Ja-Ara’s laugh is terrible, as the Gren torch-bearers advance closer to burning Nyssa on the stake.

BILLY
(shouts) “NO!!!!!!!”

SCENE #82 – EXT – ALESKI, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON
At the entrance to the Gren village in Aleski, the Doctor, Dynda and Jason with Doromir and Deletos arrive. They hear the Gren savages chanting and Billy shouting.

JASON
“Listen! Did you hear that?!”

They listen again.

BILLY
(from a distance; shouts) “NO!!!!!!!”

DOCTOR
“It’s Billy!”

DYNDA
“What? Your friend?”

DELETOS
“I thought your friend’s name was Nyssa.”

DOCTOR
“Yes. It is Nyssa. Billy’s another friend. He must be with her.”

DYNDA
“We must go in and rescue them!”

JASON
“We’ll spread out! And give them the element of surprise!”

DOROMIR
“What makes you think I’d co-operate in helping you find your friends!”

DOCTOR
“Would you really condemn an innocent girl and boy to death by the hand of savages, Captain?”

DOROMIR
“If it means for the sake of saving the quest from the likes of you…”

DYNDA
(interrupts) “Oh do shut up and help, Doromir!”

DOCTOR
(to Jason) “Jason! You come with me!” (to everyone else) “The rest of you! Spread out in opposite directions! Dynda, you go left! Doromir, you go right! We’re going in to interrupt their party, Jason and I!”

JASON
(astonished) “Hey? But Doctor, I…”

DOCTOR
“Come on!”

Jason eventually follows the Doctor, as they go off in a northerly direction. Dynda meanwhile goes east, as Doromir and Deletos go west. Meanwhile, Lo-Jo, Morg and Pike remain at a distance, as they watch the Doctor and the others go off in different directions.

PIKE
“There they are! What do they think they’re doing going into enemy territory?!”

MORG
“We’re not really going in there are we, Lo-Jo? Not with all those hairy filthy animals in there, are we?”

LO-JO
“We wait until those goons finish their business with them! Theirs will be reactionary, whilst ours will be more on the diplomatic and negotiation side.”

Lo-Jo and the pirates wait, as they watch the Doctor and others go off for the Gren village. The Gren’s chants continue as they echo from the village.

SCENE #83 – EXT – ALESKI, JUNGLOS – DATE: 4198 – DAY, AFTERNOON

JA-ARA
(bitterly) “Don’t let the fire burn out before you leave the flesh unburned, you gooney dummies! DO IT NOW! BURN HER SKIN OFF!!!”

The Gren torch-bearers advance closer to Nyssa, as the hot flames nearly touch her skin. Nyssa struggles desperately to break free from her chains as she screams.

BILLY
(cries) “NO! I WON’T LET YOU!”

Billy then kicks somebody in the shin. One of the Gren savage hunter boys cries out in pain, just as the rest of the Billy’s captors get outwitted by him. Billy, full of fury and anxious determination, gets free and runs up to the platform where Nyssa is. He leaps up onto the platform, grabbing onto one of the torch-bearers.

JA-ARA
(yells) “Stop him! STOP HIM!!!”

But Billy pushes the torch-bearer off the platform, who falls to the ground with the fiery torch falling out of his hands. There is a great pandemonium, as Gren savage men and women run for their lives whilst the ground begins to burn with the flames from the torch.

JOR-ELIV
(shouts) “COME BACK! COME BACK! THIS IS NOT OVER!!!”

Billy reaches Nyssa and begins to break her bonds, as he tugs on the chains.

NYSSA
(relieved) “Billy!”

BILLY
“Don’t worry! I’m getting you out of here!”

Just then, laser shots are fired, as Doromir, Deletos and Dynda charge in from east and west to frighten the Gren savages. Screams and cries echo, as the Gren savages become terrified at seeing the three new intruders.

SOR
(cries) “More smellys! They come like rats!”

JOR-ELIV
(shouts) “Kill them! Kill them I say!”

JA-ARA
(yells) “YES! KILL ALL WHO THREATEN THE MUD! KILL THEM ALL!!!”

Whilst Doromir, Deletos and Dynda shoot their laser pistols from all sides of the area, Billy manages to free Nyssa’s chains, pulling them free. Nyssa manages to get her wrists out of the chains once her arms are free.

BILLY
“There! Your hands are free, Nyssa!”

Billy then begins to untie Nyssa from the stake.

NYSSA
“What’s happening, Billy? Who are those people firing laser pistols at the savages?”

BILLY
“I don’t know. At least it gives us a chance to escape! Come on!”

Billy releases Nyssa from the stake, as he then takes her hand and leads her off the platform whilst the Gren run about. As they run off the platform, Nyssa stops as she turns back to see something.

NYSSA
(realises) “Billy!”

BILLY
“What is it, Nyssa?! We must go on!”

NYSSA
“But Billy, the Doctor’s there! I’ve just seen him!”

BILLY
(hesitates) “Well he’ll have to catch us up, I’m afraid! Come on, let’s get out of here!”

NYSSA
“No, Billy! The Doctor’s are our only…”

BILLY
“Now, Nyssa! We must get out of here!”

NYSSA
“But, Billy!”

BILLY
(shouts) “I’m not going to let these guys hurt you again! Come on!”

Billy drags Nyssa away, as they head off into the forest together. Meanwhile the Doctor has arrived, as he and Jason enter the village from the north-side.

DOCTOR
(realises) “There they are! They’re at the far end!”

JASON
“Your friends Nyssa and Billy?”

DOCTOR
(relieved) “Yes! They’ve managed to escape, thankfully! At least they’re safe!”

JASON
“We have to get out of this village, before we too are overpowered!”

DOCTOR
“No! Nyssa and Billy might…”

JASON
“Now, Doctor! We have to leave now!”

DOCTOR
(calls; to Dynda) “Dynda! You get yourself and the others out of there!”

DYNDA
(calls; to Doromir; to Deletos) “Come on, Doromir; Deletos! Let’s get out of here!”

DOROMIR
(scoffs) “But what about the Doctor’s so called [friends….?”]

DYNDA
(shouts) “Get a move on!!”

Dynda, Doromir and Deletos head off, as they escape the Gren savages who trample everywhere on root and branch.

SOR
(shouts) “Curse them! Curse these vile smellys that attack us!”

Meanwhile, the Doctor and Jason head back the way they came.

JASON
“I’ll use my sword Quasarin to fight these savages back into their village! To stop them following us!”

DOCTOR
(shouts) “There’s no time, Jason! Do as I say! Into the forest now!”

With that, the Doctor and Jason head off back into the forest.

JA-ARA
(yells) “AFTER THEM! AFTER THEM!!!”

The Gren savages chase after the intruders. Cruel horns ring out, as it all goes red in the village with everyone running about. Jor-Eliv shouts at the top of his voice on the platform, as he calls out to all Gren savage hunters.

JOR-ELIV
(shouts) “HUNTERS! PATROLS! BREAK OUT!! STINKERS! SMELLIES! COME TO HURT OUR PEOPLE! OUR MUD!! STOP THEM!!!”

Jor-Eliv runs off the platform, whilst all the other Gren savages continue in their frenzy of panic and terror as the pandemonium continues.
