‘The Prime Factor’, Part Two, Chapter 12

12. Detour to the Enemy Planet

SCENE #106 – EXT – PLAYGROUND, CHURCHWOOD SCHOOL – DAY, AFTERNOON
At U.N.I.T.’s end, the soldiers led by Captain Charters fight valiantly against the Kraal androids who fire back at them with either loaded fingers from the white service mechanics or laser guns from the human-like androids.

CHARTERS
(barks) “Keep the constant withering fire up, men! I want all men to cover the perimeter. Including the ones up on the roof. Where are they?”

This is confirmed when soldiers on top of the school roof fire down upon the androids from above.

CHARTERS
(barks) “Excellent! Keep at it, men! We must make sure these androids never take over Earth like the Doctor said they would.”

The androids get shot down, left, right and centre as the battle between them and the U.N.I.T. soldiers ensues.

SCENE #107 – EXT – PLAYGROUND, CHURCHWOOD SCHOOL – DAY, AFTERNOON
Back at the Kraals’ end of the battle, whilst the soldiers fight on, Jegragg gets shot by one of the U.N.I.T. soldiers from a distance. Jegragg falls to the ground as Snokar catches him and lowers him.

SNOKAR
“Jegragg! Jegragg, you’ve been shot!”

JEGRAGG
“Yes! I know, Snokar. I…I wasn’t expecting that.”

SNOKAR
“Jegragg! Keep holding on! I need you to help me with the rest of our invasion stratagem. You can’t die just yet.”

JEGRAGG
(weakly) “My apologies, Snokar. I don’t believe I can hold out for much longer. It’s time for my end to come I’m afraid.”

SNOKAR
“No, Jegragg! Don’t die on me yet!”

JEGRAGG
(weakly) “Farewell, dear Snokar. Keep the Kraal faith going!”

SNOKAR
(cries) “Jegragg, no!”

But it’s too late. Jegragg dies. The gunshots from both sides still continue whilst Snokar mourns over his fallen comrade.

SNOKAR
(mourns) “Jegragg! My comrade! How could this have happened? And it was supposed to be a straight-forward operation.”

Lewis/Galvakon comes over to Snokar whilst he’s mourning over Jegragg.

LEWIS
“Snokar, pull yourself together! We’ve got to flee away! These U.N.I.T. soldiers are overtaking the place and destroying our androids!”

Snokar doesn’t respond as he just groans, mourning over Jegragg.

LEWIS
“Oh very well. Stay there and get shot, why don’t you?”

Lewis goes over to Tegan who’s nearby.

LEWIS
“Tegan, come with me!”

TEGAN
“What? Where are we going? Where are you taking me?”

LEWIS
“We’re going to use the teleport system to head for the alien planet the Kraals and I were using.”

TEGAN
“But why? What are we going there for?”

LEWIS
(irritably) “Don’t ask questions! Now come on!”

With that, Lewis drags Tegan along with him as they make for one of the teleport systems nearby. They leave Snokar, who gets shot by one of the U.N.I.T. soldiers from a distance whilst mourning for Jegragg.

SCENE #108 – EXT – PLAYGROUND, CHURCHWOOD SCHOOL – DAY, AFTERNOON
With the Doctor and Maxil…

MAXIL
“Doctor! Galvakon and his woman are getting away!”

DOCTOR
“Yes Maxil! I can see that! And the Kraals have been shot down as well as the androids!” (irritated) “I didn’t ask for a blood bath! I just wanted the androids to be disabled. They could’ve at least arrested the Kraals, not killed them.”

MAXIL
(annoyed) “But Doctor, look! They’re getting away! Galvakon and the woman! They’re using one of the teleport units!”

This is confirmed when Galvakon uses one of the teleport units and he and Tegan are beamed up into space. The fighting still goes on whilst this happens between U.N.I.T. soldiers and Kraals.

MAXIL
(annoyed) “And now they’ve gone! Brilliant idea of yours to send in for the army whilst our enemy is getting away!”

DOCTOR
“At least it’s stopping the Kraal android invasion of Earth from happening, Maxil. I can’t handle everything at once.”

At that moment, the Doctor and Maxil are joined by Captain Charters who comes down to meet them under cover.

CHARTERS
“Doctor! It is the Doctor, isn’t it?”

DOCTOR
“Yes, yes. It is, Captain…whoever you are.”

CHARTERS
“Charters! I’m Captain Charters! It’s an honour to meet you, Doctor.”

Charters salutes the Doctor at this point.

DOCTOR
“No, no. Please! Don’t salute me, Captain.”

CHARTERS
“You’re in your fifth incarnation, I believe. That’s what the reports said when you gave in your phone call.”

DOCTOR
(irritably) “Yes! And I asked for the disablement of androids, not the bloodbath of Kraals, Captain.”

CHARTERS
“Yes, sorry about that, Doctor. The hazards of war. Some get killed in the line of battle, I’m afraid.”

DOCTOR
“Typical army attitude. Shoot first and ask questions later. The Brigadier would’ve done a better job than this!”

CHARTERS
(grimly) “Yes, well…”

DOCTOR
“Anyway, it doesn’t matter. Thank you for getting us out of a scrape, Captain. I suppose that’s essentially what my colleague and I needed.”

CHARTERS
“Of course. Only too happy to oblige, Doctor.”

MAXIL
(interrupts) “In the meantime, what do we do now? The real foes have got away in case you’d forgotten, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
(to Charters) “Captain, thank you again for helping us. But if you’ll excuse me. My colleague and I need to be on our way. We need to leave in the TARDIS.”

CHARTERS
“Of course. My soldiers and I will give you covering fire as you leave.”

MAXIL
“Where exactly are we going, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“Why, to follow Mr. Lewis slash Galvakon of course! Where do you think we’re going? Do keep up, Maxil! Haven’t you paid any attention?!”

MAXIL
(annoyed) “Doctor!”

DOCTOR
(ignores Maxil; to Charters) “Captain, if you would be so kind.”

CHARTERS
“This way, Doctor! The TARDIS is this way! Follow me!”

With that, Charters leads the way as he and his soldiers give the Doctor and Maxil covering fire to reach their TARDIS.

SCENE #109 – INT – TARDIS CONSOLE ROOM – N/A
Inside the TARDIS, the interior doors open as the Doctor and Maxil enter. They reunite with Nyssa and Billy who are standing at the TARDIS console.

NYSSA
“Doctor; Maxil. Thank goodness you’re alright.”

DOCTOR
“I take it you two saw what happened…”

NYSSA
“Yes. Billy and I watched what was going on via the TARDIS scanner screen.”

BILLY
“Yeah. We did wonder how you were going to get out of that one with Galvakon and the Kraals. Thankfully those soldiers came in the nick of time.”

MAXIL
“And now Galvakon has got away with that girl of his. Thanks to you, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Don’t spoil my concentration now, Maxil. I need to set the coordinates.”

NYSSA
“Where are we heading off to now, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“To the alien planet.”

BILLY
“What, back to that place again?”

DOCTOR
“Yes.”

The Doctor begins setting the coordinates into the TARDIS console.

NYSSA
“You believe that’s where Galvakon and his Tegan are heading.”

DOCTOR
“Yes. They may have a head start on us but hopefully we’ll be able to catch them up.”

MAXIL
“Why didn’t you say that’s where we were going before we got inside here?”

DOCTOR
“You didn’t ask. And surely Maxil, you could’ve guessed where we were going before I set the coordinates.”

The Doctor finishes entering the coordinates into the TARDIS console.

DOCTOR
“There! Coordinates set! Alien planet, here we come!”

The Doctor presses the take-off controls before thumping the console as the TARDIS takes off. The Doctor, Nyssa, Billy and Maxil hold on for dear life as the TARDIS time rotor oscillates, whooshing and grinding as it goes.

BILLY
“I wonder why Mr. Lewis…I mean Galvakon, wants to go to the alien planet. Is he running away from the Earth invasion now foiled by you, Doctor?”

NYSSA
“And why take Tegan with him? His Tegan, I mean.”

DOCTOR
“I’m guessing he and his Tegan have gone to the alien planet first before they go off to Cybeross.”

NYSSA; BILLY
(unison) “Cybeross!”

DOCTOR
“Yes, that’s what this has been all about really. The Kraals helped him and Galvakon was doing them a service by fulfilling his part of the bargain. But now U.N.I.T. has foiled the Kraals’ invasion attempts just in time, Galvakon is determined to carry on with his main objective.”

MAXIL
“To take over Cybeross with the Prime Factor weapon at his disposal.”

DOCTOR
“Precisely. He wants to share ruling the world with his Tegan that he claims to be his fiancée. He’ll stop at nothing to see that come to fruition.”

BILLY
“Do you think there’s a chance we might beat him, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“I don’t know, Billy. I’d like to think so. There’s always a chance. We make for the alien planet first to make a start from there.”

NYSSA
(confused) “I don’t see why Galvakon couldn’t have had the remaining Kraal…Snokar, was it? …and a few androids accompany him and his Tegan to the alien planet before reaching Cybeross.”

BILLY
“Yeah, you’d think he’d find that poor Kraal of some use rather than just be captured or shot down by U.N.I.T. soldiers. Maybe even help him to get over the death of his friend…Jegragg, was it?”

DOCTOR
“I don’t think it matters either way, Nyssa; Billy. Galvakon doesn’t see any use in the Kraals for his purposes on Cybeross. And with the Time Lords’ involvement in manipulating the Kraals in this endeavour, it would make things rather tricky.”

NYSSA
“What?”

DOCTOR
“Oh yeah! Didn’t I tell you two? The Time Lords were responsible for seeing to it that the Kraals allied themselves with Galvakon. Just so that we could easily get the Prime Factor weapon off them. Maxil will confirm that.”

MAXIL
“It wasn’t like that at all, Doctor. I told you. The CIA and the Castellan wanted things to be played out before the Prime Factor weapon could be recovered easily. We did not anticipate the whereabouts of the weapon in the boy Chester Blurr or that a second stage to their invasion plans would be in Cardiff two thousand and twelve.”

DOCTOR
“No matter how you justify it Maxil, it’s sickening your lot decided to use me, Nyssa and Billy whilst also having Kraals play out in their games.”

MAXIL
“They’re your people too, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Yes. And I still shudder at the thought of what they’re doing with the Kraals in this situation.”

BILLY
“So wait, let me get this clear. The Kraals were involved because of the Time Lords…and the Time Lords wanted us involved so that they could get the Prime Factor weapon easily. They controlled us heroes whilst controlling one of our enemies.”

NYSSA
(shocked) “That’s shocking! How can the Time Lords think like that?”

DOCTOR
“The Time Lords think themselves as gods, Nyssa. They don’t even consider the possibility that they go too far.”

MAXIL
“We don’t go too far, Doctor!”

DOCTOR
“There were things you didn’t know about like Chester having the weapon inside him and Galvakon and the Kraals basing themselves in Cardiff twenty-twelve, like you said. Your ignorance of these things makes you irresponsible.”

MAXIL
“Think what you will, Doctor. The Time Lords are justified in their actions.”

DOCTOR
“Of course you are. And that’s why I disapprove of your lifestyle, just as much as you disapprove of mine.”

BILLY
(interjects) “How much longer will it take us to get to the alien planet then?”

DOCTOR
“Not long now. We’re nearly there, Billy.”

Moment of silence.

NYSSA
“Doctor, I just realised!”

DOCTOR
“What is it, Nyssa?”

NYSSA
“We’ve left our rooms empty at the Future Inn in Cardiff, twenty-twelve.”

BILLY
“Yeah! We haven’t even stayed there overnight.”

DOCTOR
(realises) “Oh yes! Um…don’t worry, Nyssa; Billy. We’ll sort out that business once we’ve dealt with Galvakon, I’m sure.”

Nyssa and Billy are dubious, whilst they, the Doctor and Maxil continue to make their way to the alien planet via the TARDIS.

SCENE #110 – INT – CONTROL CENTRE, UNIDENTIFIED PLANET – DAY, EVENING
In the control centre of the Kraal base within the Churchwood School duplicate on the alien planet, Lewis/Galvakon presses buttons at control consoles. It is now the evening and Tegan becomes anxious as she waits nearby Lewis/Galvakon who works away at the control consoles.

TEGAN
(anxiously) “Roger, my dear. Are you sure about what you’re doing?”

LEWIS
(bitterly) “Don’t bother me, woman! Can’t you see that I’m busy?”

TEGAN
“But I’m just anxious that things haven’t gone according to plan. Like you said they would.”

LEWIS
“Nonsense. A little setback, nothing else. We may have lost our allies in the Kraals and their fine androids, but I still have the Prime Factor weapon!”

TEGAN
(dubiously) “Oh! And that’s going to help with us conquering your planet, is it?”

LEWIS
“Yes it is, my dear.” (Pause) “I’m glad you still want to rule the planet Cybeross with me, my dear. For a moment, I didn’t think you would.”

TEGAN
“Oh I still want to rule Cybeross with you, my dear. That I’m certain of. It’s just…I thought this was all going to turn out to be easy.”

LEWIS
“Nothing ever is I’m afraid, my dear. But no matter. The Prime Factor will sort everything out.”

TEGAN
“What are you going to do then, Roger dear?”

LEWIS
“First, I’m going to launch an attack on Cybeross. Scare the living daylights out of everyone with my new-found powers found in this clever device I’ve put together to ensure I use the Prime Factor to its fullest.”

TEGAN
“And then what are you going to do, Roger dear?”

LEWIS
“Then, I’m going to infiltrate the Cybeross Parliament Centre and see to it that the senators and politicians let me take over. Then we can rule the planet together as we want to.”

TEGAN
(worried) “Are you sure that’s how it’s going to work out, Roger? It seems too easy to me.”

LEWIS
(self-assured) “It will be easy, yes. With the power of the Prime Factor at my fingertips, it will be.”

TEGAN
“I’m not so sure about this, Roger. The power from the weapon could destroy you. I’m saying you don’t want it to take so much out of you.”

Lewis/Galvakon stops working at the control console he was at and makes his way over to Tegan.

LEWIS
“Are you questioning my judgement in this matter, Tegan my dear?”

TEGAN
“No, Roger dear! Of course not! I was only raising mild concerns…”

LEWIS
(interjects) “Because I’d hate to think you were becoming disloyal to me in my ambitions. You aren’t being disloyal to me now are you, Tegan my dear?” (slightly menacing) “Are you, my dear?”

TEGAN
(slightly afraid; corrects herself) “No, no. Of course not, Roger my dear. Don’t be silly.” (Pause) “I’m sorry, Roger my dear. I shouldn’t have doubted you. I only wanted to be sure you knew what you were doing.”

LEWIS
(gradually; satisfied) “Good. I’m glad to hear you say that, Tegan my dear.” (Pause) “And yes! I do know what I’m doing. You can be reassured about that.”

TEGAN
“Well, if you reassure me like that, then we’re all fair and square.”

LEWIS
“Of course.”

A bleeping from one of the control consoles echoes. Lewis/Galvakon makes his way over to the control console to check.

LEWIS
“Ah! Teleportation procedures are in place! We can make our way to Cybeross at last!”

TEGAN
“We can?”

LEWIS
“Of course we can! Follow me, Tegan my dear. You’re going to love this!”

Lewis/Galvakon takes Tegan with him as they make their way towards one of the teleport pads to make for Cybeross.

SCENE #111 – EXT – CITY SKYSCRAPER ROOFTOP, CYBEROSS – DAY, MORNING
On a skyscraper rooftop in the middle of a city, Galvakon and Tegan arrive there via teleport. They’re now on the planet Cybeross. They look below at the city to take in their surroundings.

LEWIS
“Welcome, my dear! Welcome to Cybeross! My home!”

TEGAN
(awed) “It’s beautiful here! Look! The stars are out!”

LEWIS
“It’s early in the morning on Cybeross, my dear.”

TEGAN
(surprised) “Early in the morning? You have night-time as early in the morning during the day?”

LEWIS
“Night-time; day-time, it doesn’t matter here like it does on your planet. It’s always a starry sky whenever we look up at it on Cybeross. Our bright shining moon tells us that it’s the morning on Cybeross. When it goes down, it’s the end of the day.”

TEGAN
“This is incredible! And you say you come from this planet, Roger darling?”

LEWIS
“Yes of course! And it’ll soon be our planet once that war down below is over!”

Tegan looks down to see the fighting going on in the streets of Cybeross. Laser gun shots are fired from each side. Tegan becomes worried whilst war occurs within the Cyberossian city.

SCENE #112 – INT – CONTROL CENTRE, UNIDENTIFIED PLANET – DAY, EVENING
Back on the alien planet, the Doctor, Nyssa, Billy and Maxil find themselves exploring the place as they try to track down where Lewis/Galvakon and his Tegan are. They’re now in the control centre as they search for them.

MAXIL
(annoyed; irritably) “They’re not here! They’ve gone before we could even catch them! Great idea it was of yours to park the TARDIS back on the hilltop before we made the long walk to this Churchwood School duplicate, Doctor.”

BILLY
“Yeah, how come we didn’t park outside the school itself, Doctor?”

NYSSA
“It would’ve saved us a long journey to get here if they actually did come here to this school, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Oh yes it would, Nyssa. That I’m sure it would. But there are still some problems with parking the TARDIS on the alien planet with the energy beam still directed at Earth. Even though we came in twenty-twelve and not nineteen fifty-seven like we did before.”

NYSSA
“You could’ve bypassed and found a way around to outside the circumference of the energy beam, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“That I could, Nyssa. That I could.”

BILLY
“But you didn’t, did you Doctor. You parked the TARDIS on the hilltop deliberately, am I right?”

DOCTOR
“Quite right there, Billy. I wanted to give Galvakon and his Tegan time to get to Cybeross before we got there.”

MAXIL
“What would you want to do that for, Doctor? Isn’t it the idea to catch up with them and get the Prime Factor off Galvakon?”

DOCTOR
“It is, Maxil. But if we let them think they’re winning, they won’t suspect us catching up after them. That way we’ll get the upper hand.”

NYSSA
“It might not work like that according to your intentions, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Maybe not, Nyssa. But it’s the best strategy I can think of in order to avoid being detected by Galvakon so easily. He’s not thinking straight at the moment with getting his conquest of Cybeross. And I’d like to keep him that way with not thinking straight.”

BILLY
(realises) “Doctor? Is that what we’re looking for? The teleport system? It’s flashing green.”

The Doctor, Nyssa, Billy and Maxil make their way over to check on the teleport system they’ve found.

DOCTOR
“Hang on! Let me just check with my glasses.”

The Doctor puts on his glasses to see. After a while…

DOCTOR
(gratified) “Yes, Billy! Well done! This is the teleport unit we need!”

NYSSA
“Has it been used lately, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“Hang on! Let me check that on the computer terminal…”

The Doctor presses a few buttons on the computer terminal to see. After a short while of checking…

DOCTOR
“Yes! Yes, Nyssa! The teleport system has been used recently. Two people including a Cyberossian and a human according to these life-signs have used the teleport.”

MAXIL
“And their destination, Doctor?”

The Doctor checks, pressing a few buttons on the computer terminal.

DOCTOR
(realises) “Cybeross! The destination was Cybeross!”

BILLY
“So we’ve got a chance then!”

NYSSA
“Wait! Doctor, how long was it since the teleport was used?”

The Doctor checks for a moment.

DOCTOR
“About ten minutes ago, I’m afraid.”

NYSSA
(anxiously) “So Galvakon could be using the Prime Factor to kill the people of Cybeross already.”

DOCTOR
“Yes. I’m afraid that might be the case.”

MAXIL
(outraged) “This is an outrage! An absolute outrage! This is all your fault, Doctor! If you’d done like I said…”

DOCTOR
“Don’t pin the blame on me, Maxil!”

MAXIL
“I don’t see who else to put the blame on, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“It is our people the Time Lords who are partly responsible for this no matter how hard you try to deny it!”

MAXIL
“I do deny it, Doctor! That is a scandalous accusation…”

DOCTOR
(interrupts) “Besides, there’s no need to get on your high horse, Maxil! Like Billy said, we have got a chance!”

BILLY
(dubiously) “Yeah. I suppose it’s a slim one though isn’t it, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Indeed it is slim, Billy. But we still mustn’t give up on the chance, must we?”

NYSSA
“Indeed not, Doctor. I agree with you. We must take that chance.”

BILLY
“I agree too. Let’s go for it, shall we?”

MAXIL
(wryly) “Well, I’m so glad you three seem so eager and positive about the whole thing. But the question still remains. How exactly do we take that slim chance of stopping Galvakon from getting what he wants?”

NYSSA
“We’ll use the teleport system of course! It’ll be quicker to use rather than going back to the TARDIS on that hilltop!”

BILLY
“Yes, of course! We can follow after Galvakon once he’s started doing whatever he’s doing to conquer that planet of his.”

NYSSA
“Exactly! And somehow we’ll find some way of getting the Prime Factor weapon off him.”

DOCTOR
(apprehensively) “Nyssa; Billy. You realise how dangerous this could be.”

NYSSA
“Yes we know, Doctor. We know the risks involved.”

DOCTOR
“And I don’t want you two to endanger yourselves unnecessarily. This could all be a trap as far as I’m concerned.”

BILLY
(puzzled) “Why should this be a trap?”

DOCTOR
“I’m just saying that Maxil and I are happy to go via teleport and stop Galvakon on Cybeross by ourselves whilst you two can wait here until we return.”

MAXIL
(irritably; impatiently) “We’re wasting time, Doctor!”

NYSSA
“Maxil’s right, Doctor. We are wasting time. We must go on to stop Galvakon from whatever he’s doing to his planet with the Prime Factor. We’re very grateful to you, but we’re not going to let danger stand in the way of stopping us help you, Doctor.” (to Billy) “Isn’t that right, Billy?”

BILLY
“Of course! Absolutely! We’re not going to let you get away that easily from us, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
(sighs) “Very well.” (Pause) “Thank you two for joining me anyway.”

BILLY
“Hey, it’s our pleasure.”

NYSSA
“As always, Doctor.”

MAXIL
(impatiently) “Come on! Let’s get a move on before we lose our chance of capturing Galvakon at all!”

DOCTOR
(to Maxil) “Yes of course, Maxil!” (to Nyssa) “Nyssa? Help me with the teleport. I’m sure I know how it works, but your extra expertise won’t harm things.”

NYSSA
(to Doctor) “Of course.” (to Billy) “Billy! You and Maxil get onto the teleport pads and wait! We’ll join you once the teleport system is set up ready for a teleport with a delayed time to it.”

BILLY
(to Nyssa) “Right you are, Nyssa.” (to Maxil) “Come on, Maxil!”

MAXIL
(bitterly) “Don’t touch my arm, boy! I don’t know where that hand of yours has been recently!”

BILLY
(insistently) “Come on, Maxil! Up and stand on the teleport pads like Nyssa said.”

Nyssa helps the Doctor as they attend to the teleport system to set things up. Billy and Maxil stand on the teleport pads whilst the Doctor and Nyssa get things ready.

SCENE #113 – EXT – CITY SKYSCRAPER ROOFTOP, CYBEROSS – DAY, MORNING
Back on the planet Cybeross, Lewis/Galvakon is laughing away, glorifying at his own prominent victory with his Tegan watching nearby.

LEWIS
(laughs; triumphantly) “Ha! Success is before me! Cybeross is down below at my fingertips!”

TEGAN
“There are a lot of people fighting each other, Roger. With laser guns and everything. And is all that blue blood on the ground?”

LEWIS
“These people have been fighting this civil war for a long time! The opposing side has no idea of what potential my people and I can bring to this world!”

TEGAN
“Is that what you have inside you, Roger? Blue blood?”

LEWIS
“But now, with the use of my Prime Factor, I can show the opposing side what it means to oppose the will of Galvakon. To show them what happens if they defy me unless they follow my rule instead.”

TEGAN
(to herself) “Our babies will have a mixture of red and blue blood if we should ever raise a family on this planet.”

LEWIS
“It’s a wonder the opposing side didn’t consider going after the Prime Factor like I did. They’re not as proactive as I am.”

TEGAN
(to herself) “And if our children should ever fight in battle, they could end up sprawled on the streets with red and blue blood all over them.” (shudders) “I wouldn’t like to see that.”

LEWIS
“I think it’s time for me to put the Prime Factor weapon to the test. To see what its potential is.” (to Tegan) “Are you coming to join me Tegan to witness this?”

TEGAN
(gradually) “Do you mind if I stay up here? On this city skyscraper rooftop to see what’s happening? To watch what you do when you use that thing?”

LEWIS
“What? You won’t join me, my dear?”

TEGAN
(gradually) “I’m not good with seeing blood during a battle even if it’s blue blood. I get squeamish when I see gore and violence. Even from watching horror movies, I get like that.”

LEWIS
(gradually; disappointed) “I hoped you would be stronger, my dear.”

TEGAN
“Sorry, Roger. It is how I feel at the moment.”

LEWIS
“Oh very well. Stay up here if you want. I’ll come back for you later. To take you to the place where we will rule this planet forever. I won’t be long. Wait here for me, my dear.”

With that, Lewis/Galvakon goes down from the city skyscraper rooftop to the streets below with the Prime Factor weapon on him. Tegan watches him go before continuing to look down at the streets before her.

TEGAN
(wryly) “I can’t wait. Don’t rush things will you?”

SCENE #114 – EXT – CITY STREET, CYBEROSS – DAY, MORNING
A while later, civil war soldiers continue to fight each other with laser guns whilst they’re in the Cyberossian city streets. Lewis/Galvakon arrives, having the Prime Factor weapon on him.

LEWIS
(cheerfully) “Greetings everyone!”

The civil war soldiers continue fighting each other, ignoring Lewis/Galvakon.

LEWIS
“I said…” (bellows) “…’Greetings everyone!'”

The civil war soldiers still ignore Lewis/Galvakon as they fight each other.

LEWIS
(sighs) “Very well. We’ll have to do this the painful way, won’t we?”

Lewis/Galvakon applies his hands on the fire gemstone as well as the trigger on the star-like device for the Prime Factor weapon.

LEWIS
“Alright then.” (to soldiers) “Take this, you morons!”

Lewis/Galvakon shoots fire at the soldiers. The soldiers hit by fire scream in agony as they burn to a crisp. The remaining soldiers stop fighting as they turn to look back at Lewis/Galvakon and become shocked.

LEWIS
“There! Glad I got your attention!” (cheerfully) “Hello dear comrades in arms! Did you enjoy my fireworks?”

The soldiers don’t answer except with shocked murmurs.

LEWIS
“Good! Now let’s see some more of those fireworks, shall we?” (manically) “Burn babies, burn!!!”

Lewis/Galvakon opens fire again with fire from the Prime Factor device, burning lots of soldiers and turning them into crisp in the process. The soldiers not hit by fire are shocked whilst this happens.

LEWIS
(manically) “Yes! It’s shocking I’ve burned my own soldiers as well! Well, do you know what? I don’t care at all! Because I’ve got the Prime Factor on me!” (cries) “Die, everybody!!! DIE!!!”

Lewis/Galvakon laughs away manically as he opens fire. He goes on a rampage, killing everyone in sight. The soldiers flee for their lives before some of them get burnt to a crisp.

LEWIS
(gloats) “Ooh! Don’t run away! We just got the party started!”

Lewis/Galvakon continues laughing away as he burns everyone in sight. The soldiers continue to flee as he does so. Some escape from burning, some don’t escape.

LEWIS
(gloats) “Say! Is it too hot for everyone? Well, how about some water?”

Lewis/Galvakon then presses the water gemstone on the star-like device as well as pressing the trigger before shooting out water at the soldiers. The soldiers get hit by the water and some begin to drown as the street becomes quickly flooded by Lewis/Galvakon’s attack.

LEWIS
(laughs; manically) “Whoa! That’s too much water, isn’t it? I’m nearly flooding the whole street, aren’t I?”

Lewis/Galvakon laughs again whilst the soldiers continue to drown and the street continues to flood.

LEWIS
“Still no matter! How about some wind for a change?”

Lewis/Galvakon then presses the wind gemstone and presses the star-like device’s trigger before generating wind in the street. Some soldiers get blown off their feet as the wind carries them away into the air at a ferocious rate.

LEWIS
“Or how about some lightning?”

Lewis/Galvakon again changes setting as he presses the lightning gemstone and the trigger on the star-like device, before striking lightning at the soldiers. The soldiers get electrocuted once struck by lightning from Lewis/Galvakon’s attack on them.

LEWIS
(laughs; manically) “Oh I love this Prime Factor weapon I have on me!” (Pause) “And now, it’s time to beat some guys up, shall we? Let’s do what Chester Blurr would do by going really fast for a change?”

Lewis/Galvakon again changes the setting by pressing the speed gemstone and presses the trigger on the star-like device before going really fast and beating the soldiers up in the street with brute force. With his super-speed, Lewis/Galvakon manages to take every soldier down in the street, including his own troops fighting on his side in the war.

SCENE #115 – EXT – CITY SKYSCRAPER ROOFTOP, CYBEROSS – DAY, MORNING
Back on top of the city skyscraper, Tegan watches the carnage caused by Lewis/Galvakon in the city streets. She can’t help be shocked and horrified by what she sees.

TEGAN
“My fiancée! Killing all those soldiers with that powerful weapon of his.” (Pause) “I’m not sure that saying yes to marrying him was a good idea now.”

As Tegan ponders on the mistake she might have made, she gets interrupted as someone hisses at her from behind. She turns around to see.

BILLY
“Hey! Don’t worry! It was only me hissing. We just wanted to get your attention. Now we’ve got it.”

TEGAN
(afraid) “Who are you two? What do you want?”

NYSSA
(reassuringly) “It’s alright, Tegan. We’re not here to hurt you, Billy and me. We just want to talk to you.”

TEGAN
(confused) “You know my name! How come you two know my name?”

BILLY
“Oh the Doctor pointed you out to us. He met you on Earth before you were taken here by Mr. Lewis…Galvakon, I mean.” (annoyed) “Galvakon! I must remember that name.”

TEGAN
“The Doctor? That man in the cricket jumper and the cream-coloured coat. You know him?”

NYSSA
“Yes! We’re friends of his.”

TEGAN
“Then you’re enemies of my fiancé Roger. I shouldn’t trust you! I shouldn’t even be talking to you! Keep away from me!”

Tegan backs away.

NYSSA
“Please, Tegan. Don’t run off. Just hear us out. We only want to help you.”

Tegan stops in her tracks. She soon turns to look at Nyssa and Billy.

TEGAN
“Help me? How can you two help me? What makes you think I need help?”

BILLY
(gradually) “Because you seem unhappy. At least, that’s what it looks like now. The Doctor noticed it when he met you on Earth. And we’re noticing it too, Nyssa and me.” (to Nyssa) “Aren’t we, dear?”

NYSSA
“Yes we are, Billy. Definitely.”

TEGAN
(bitterly) “I don’t want any help. Not from you or anyone else. Just keep away from me!”

NYSSA
“Tegan, please listen to us.” (Pause) “I used to have a friend called Tegan. She would often receive help from me. I would like it if you received help from Billy and me.”

TEGAN
“You…you had a friend called Tegan?”

NYSSA
“Yes I did. She was my best friend. A long time ago. I don’t know what she’s doing now, wherever and whenever she is. I don’t know if she was like you. But my Tegan was very brave. Quite strong-willed and stubborn at times, but very brave. We would often complement each other and share problems with each other. I would share mine with her and she would share hers with me. From our sharing, we became stronger and braver than we thought possible.”

TEGAN
“You did?”

NYSSA
“Yes, we did.” (Pause) “And if there are any problems that you’re currently having with what you’re going through with your fiancé Mr. Lewis…Mr. Galvakon…your Roger…then we’d be happy to help you out in any way possible if you shared them with us. Shared them with Billy and me.”

BILLY
“Yeah. We scratch your back and you scratch ours. That sort of thing.”

NYSSA
“Probably not the phrase I would’ve used, Billy dear.”

BILLY
“Oh really? Sorry, dear.”

NYSSA
(to Tegan) “So, Tegan? What do you say?”

A moment of silence ensues as Tegan Handshaw thinks and considers.

TEGAN
(gradually) “I don’t know. I don’t know what I want. I’m so confused.”

BILLY
“Do you want to go back home, Tegan? Perhaps this place your Roger has taken you to is not to your liking.”

TEGAN
(gradually) “Yes. Yes, I would like that. To go back home. To see my mum and dad. So much has happened today. I thought things were going to be great for my future hubby and me. Now I’m not so sure.”

NYSSA
“We’ll help get you back home, Tegan. But first you need to help us.”

TEGAN
(confused) “How? How can I help you?”

NYSSA
“Your Roger…Mr. Lewis…Mr. Galvakon. Do you know where he’s heading off to? After doing what he’s doing in the city?”

TEGAN
(thinks; gradually) “Yes! Yes I know where he’s heading off to. He’s heading for the Cybeross Parliament Centre. That’s what I believe he said.”

SCENE #116 – EXT – CYBEROSS PARLIAMENT CENTRE, CYBEROSS – DAY, MORNING
Meanwhile, outside the Cybeross Parliament Centre, a number of Cyberossian guards keep watch at the entrance. Lewis/Galvakon then appears out of nowhere, jumping right before them as he comes to attack. The Cyberossian guards are startled and caught off guard once Lewis/Galvakon appears.

LEWIS
(mock-apologises) “Oh I’m sorry! Did I startle you, gentlemen?”

Lewis/Galvakon laughs away manically whilst the Cyberossian guards are stoical and un-amused.

LEWIS
“Still no matter. You won’t live long enough to be startled since I’ll have you out of the way instantly.”

Lewis/Galvakon presses the fire gemstone and the trigger simultaneously on the Prime Factor star device. Fire shoots out from the weapon and the Cyberossian guards get burnt to a crisp instantly before they even have a chance to fight back.

LEWIS
(laughs) “I love the fire setting! It’s so instantaneous!”

Just as Lewis/Galvakon is about to enter the parliament building, more Cyberossian guards come running from the other side.

GUARD
“Hey, you! Stop! Stay right where you are!”

But Lewis opens fire with water from his Prime Factor weapon device at the Cyberossian guards approaching. The guards get swept off their feet by a tidal wave of water approaching them.

LEWIS
“And I love the water setting too!”

More guards come charging the other side towards Lewis/Galvakon.

LEWIS
“Guards on my right and now guards on my left!” (cheerily) “Bye, bye, guards!”

With that, Lewis swoops the guards on his left up into the air by generating wind from his Prime Factor device. The guards scream with fear as they’re being swept away by wind.

LEWIS
“And the wind setting! That’s good too!”

Lewis/Galvakon laughs for a bit over his victory on handling the Prime Factor weapon well via his perspective.

LEWIS
“And now for parliament! Let’s go in, shall we?”

With that, Lewis/Galvakon enters the Cybeross Parliament Centre.

SCENE #117 – INT – CYBEROSS PARLIAMENT CENTRE, CYBEROSS – DAY, MORNING
Inside the parliament building, the politicians and senators are arguing and bickering with each other. Whilst they argue and bicker, Lewis/Galvakon makes his entrance by pushing through the doors. They make a loud noise as he enters, grabbing the attention of the politicians.

POLITICIAN
“What is the meaning of this?”

SENATOR
(annoyed) “Yes! Can’t you see we’re busy, whoever you are?”

LEWIS
“You should know who I am, gentleman! I am Galvakon! The new ruler of the planet Cybeross!”

POLITICIAN
(dismissively) “Pfft! Poppy-cock!”

SENATOR
“Absolutely outrageous!”

LEWIS
“You should listen to me, gentlemen! I have the Prime Factor with me. I have the authority I need to take over. I have the power of life and death over you! You cannot renounce me!”

POLITICIAN
“Just go away and leave us alone, you nobody!”

SENATOR
“Yes. We have important matters to discuss! Like how we Cyberossians are going to eat our chips!”

POLITICIAN
“Yes! Whether we should have downloadable information from eating our chips in the good cause of the war effort.”

LEWIS
“Perhaps I didn’t make myself clear, gentlemen. I have the Prime Factor and I intend to take over the planet Cybeross and its government.”

POLITICIAN
“We don’t care if you have the Sterososis Bat of Justice. You’re interrupting important matters of state and we’d like to be left alone.”

SENATOR
“Yes. Push off and don’t bother us ever again!”

LEWIS
“Very well. You’ve had fair warning. Don’t say I didn’t try!”

Lewis/Galvakon uses the Prime Factor weapon and fires fire at the politicians and senators. Some of the politicians and senators scream out loud in pain as they are burnt to a crisp by fire.

SENATOR
(shocked) “What?! You can’t do this!”

POLITICIAN
“Yes! You can’t burn important politicians and senators just like that during an important meeting like this!”

LEWIS
“Oh this is just the start, gentlemen! As well as burning people to death, I can also drown them!”

Lewis/Galvakon then uses the Prime Factor weapon to fire water at the politicians and senators. This causes them to drown in the nearly flooded parliament room.

LEWIS
“Do I need to demonstrate further, gentlemen?”

POLITICIAN
“You shall pay for interrupting us like this, whoever you are!”

SENATOR
“Yes! We’ve been cooped up arguing for days on end and you have the gall to come in here and interrupt us…”

LEWIS
(fed up) “Oh you gentlemen are so annoying! Just die anyway!”

Lewis/Galvakon uses both fire and water to kill off every politician and senator in the parliament room. Once he has the room empty, he stops using the Prime Factor device. A moment of silence ensues.

LEWIS
“Hmm. It’s wet and burnt up in this room. Still no matter. It can be tidied up.”

Lewis/Galvakon then makes his way over to sit in the main parliament chair at the other end of the room. Once sat down, he lets out a sigh of contentment.

LEWIS
(contented) “At last! Now I have the power I need! To rule Cybeross and many other worlds near it.” (Pause) “I wonder if they do service in this place.” (calls) “Hey! Service! Is there anyone doing service in this place?”

SCENE #118 – EXT – CYBEROSS PARLIAMENT CENTRE, CYBEROSS – DAY, MORNING
Meanwhile, the Doctor, Nyssa, Billy and Maxil are outside the Cybeross Parliament Centre as they contemplate how they should enter the building.

NYSSA
“Everything seems quiet outside the building. Almost sterile.”

MAXIL
“There’s also a stench of death in the air.”

DOCTOR
“There is, Maxil. Galvakon has been at work with the Prime Factor weapon again. See on the ground near us?”

NYSSA
(realises) “Those are helmets and laser guns. Belonging to some unfortunate guards patrolling outside the parliament building. Now deceased, I believe.”

BILLY
“We’ve got to stop him, Doctor. That monster of a headmaster of mine.”

DOCTOR
“I agree, Billy. We’ll sort him out.”

NYSSA
“Doctor, are you sure the teleport unit on the skyscraper rooftop would work well in reverse? How can we be sure that Tegan got back to the alien planet safely when we teleported her back there?”

DOCTOR
“Don’t worry about it, Nyssa. I’m sure it worked fine. The teleport unit terminal said she got back to the alien planet safely.”

BILLY
“Seeing the teleport unit terminal’s reading and actually seeing it ourselves are two different things.”

NYSSA
“Billy’s right there, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
(impatiently) “We’ll attend to Tegan later, you two. Don’t worry about it. Right now, we’ve got Mr. Galvakon to sort out.”

MAXIL
“He’ll probably have utilised the Prime Factor to take complete control of the Cybeross Parliament.”

DOCTOR
“I agree with you there, Maxil. The challenge is how to get the Prime Factor weapon off him with a suitable distraction.”

NYSSA
“We need to immobilise him somehow. That way, we can get the Prime Factor weapon off him when he can’t move his torso; arms and legs.”

BILLY
“A shame we don’t have any tranquilisers on hand to help us out here.”

DOCTOR
“I doubt tranquilisers will be effective in stopping Mr. Galvakon, Billy. Especially for a Cyberossian metabolism.”

NYSSA
“He’ll probably disintegrate the tranquiliser dart the moment we had a chance to fire one at him.”

DOCTOR
“Very likely, Nyssa. But you’re right of course. We need to find a way to distract and immobilise him before we get the Prime Factor weapon off him.”

MAXIL
“I have some Gallifreyan immobiliser packs on me if anybody’s interested.”

Maxil shows the immobiliser packs he has in his hands. The Doctor, Nyssa and Billy are astonished.

DOCTOR
(surprised) “How long have you had those things in your jacket, Maxil?”

MAXIL
“For a while. Ever since we left Gallifrey before we started our mission.”

DOCTOR
“You never told me you had them on you.”

MAXIL
“You didn’t ask. Besides, they’re only to be used when absolutely necessary.”

DOCTOR
“And this is the right time, Maxil. Unless you’d rather have Galvakon use the Prime Factor indefinitely to control Cybeross and other planets before taking over Gallifrey.”

MAXIL
“No, Doctor. I concur with you. This is the right time to use the immobilisers.”

DOCTOR
“I’m glad you agree with me on that, Maxil.”

NYSSA
“I take it you want Billy and me to create the distraction for you and Maxil when you confront Galvakon in the parliament building.”

DOCTOR
“Right first time, Nyssa.”

BILLY
“How exactly do we distract him then?”

DOCTOR
“Simple!” (Pause) “Go downstairs and shut off the power temporarily to give Maxil and me time to catch Galvakon off guard and distract him.”

NYSSA
“Then you get the Prime Factor off him and we’ll make our way back to the teleport unit on the skyscraper rooftop before Galvakon can stop us.”

DOCTOR
“Exactly!”

MAXIL
“How exactly are we going to stop Galvakon from stopping us, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“Oh come on, Maxil! You have your staser pistol on you now! You picked it from your other trousers when you collected it from the TARDIS!”

MAXIL
(thinks) “Fair enough.”

DOCTOR
“Right then! Let’s go our separate ways and sort out Galvakon, shall we?”

With that, the Doctor and Maxil head off inside the parliament building. Nyssa and Billy go off to find a way to switch off the power in the parliament building to create the required distraction.
