10. Billy To The Rescue

SCENE #97 – INT – THRONE ROOM, VEGRON BASE – DAY – SUMMER 2163
Back at the Vegron base, the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams are escorted by Thomas and Percy with a few Vegrons including the Vegron general. They are eventually led out of the cave-like walkways that are leading downwards, as they enter into the main Vegron throne room.

DOCTOR
(awed) “Say I like the architecture!! Little lizard head patterns engraved on the walls. And the large lizard head up on the ceiling. Those reptilian chairs look comfy. Have you got any kennels for your Zegors?”

ADAMS
(infuriated) “Fine time for you, Doctor to go on about the decorations of this place!”

NYSSA
“I find this place foreboding! It’s so dark in here!”

Thomas and Percy stop as they turn to their three prisoners.

THOMAS
“You will remain standing whilst you wait for his Excellency, Domus Clag!”

DOCTOR
“Oh yes. I’m definitely looking forward to meeting this Domus Clag! Aren’t you Nyssa? Mr. Adams?”

NYSSA
“Can’t wait.”

ADAMS
“I’m riveting to see him.”

The Vegron general steps forward.

VEGRON GENERAL
(calls) “Praise to his Excellency…Domus Clag!”

A large door opens, as Vegron troops come through stamping on the ground, as they escort Domus Clag into the throne room. Domus Clag is a Vegron though is far evolved and superior compared to other Vegrons. He makes his way towards his main throne room chair as he is also followed by another person who sits next to him.

VEGRON GENERAL
“All bow before his Excellency!”

People bow, including the Vegron general, Thomas and Percy. Those who are not bowing are the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams. Moment of silence.

DOMUS CLAG
(charmingly) “Welcome to our domain!”

DOCTOR
(casually) “Well thank you very much, your Excellency! It’s nice to be here, isn’t it?”

DOMUS CLAG
“I pray you three haven’t had a rough journey to make to here!”

DOCTOR
“Oh not to bad! Just a few bumps and jerks! What more can you expect from riding on the time track!”

DOMUS CLAG
(to Vegron general) “General! You and the two humans will leave us!”

VEGRON GENERAL
“As you command sir!”

The Vegron general leaves followed by Thomas and Percy.

ADAMS
(flabbergasted) “Good lord! It’s Sinclair!”

SINCLAIR
“That’s right Mr. Adams! Nice to see you again! Feels like a hundred years since we last met!”

DOMUS CLAG
“This is my consort, Miss Sinclair! I’m glad you three have the pleasure of being acquainted with my spouse.”

DOCTOR
“Hardly a pleasure, I think.”

ADAMS
(bewildered) “But…you’re young! Last time we met you were…old and decayed!”

SINCLAIR
(laughs) “It’s a fortune for me Mr. Adams to have lived so long and with such advanced technology by this period.”

NYSSA
“Self-regeneration? Biological?”

SINCLAIR
(pleased) “Precisely, my dear. As I said to Mr. Walker two hundred years ago. You do have an intelligent mind!”

DOCTOR
“Could it be that your self-regeneration powers are due to the fact that you’re not human at all?”

SINCLAIR
(amazed) “You are correct, Doctor! I’m surprised you knew!”

DOCTOR
“Oh I’ve known for quite a time that you weren’t human!”

NYSSA
(puzzled) “How did you know?”

DOCTOR
“She gave herself away when I and Mr. Adams met her in 2063.”

ADAMS
“What are you on about sir?”

DOCTOR
(to Sinclair) “You told us you were ninety-three years old! Well I had a little think on that and thought ‘wait a minute…that can’t be right’. If you were ninety-three years old in twenty sixty-three that means you would have been minus 7 years old in nineteen sixty-three, which is laughable because you were well in your prime when we first met you! But of course you could have been confused since you were old and decrepit! But it’s highly improbable isn’t it!”

SINCLAIR
(gradually) “You’re very well informed of your facts Doctor.”

NYSSA
“The Doctor’s intelligence never wavers!”

DOCTOR
“Thank you, Nyssa.”

ADAMS
(realising) “That explains why Billy and I found no-one at Elm Grove cottage when we went there! And why there was a nasty dog-beast in the house.”

NYSSA
“Were both of you hurt?”

ADAMS
“Oh no! I managed to get Billy out saving his life and then him saving mine!” (to Sinclair) “Anyway what are you doing fraternizing with the enemy, Sinclair?”

DOMUS CLAG
(charmingly) “Miss Sinclair has been helping me with organising the grandest scheme yet of Vegron history. And has been very helpful in any short-comings over the years.”

SINCLAIR
“Oh you’re such a flatterer, Clag!” (to Doctor; Nyssa; Adams) “As you can see, I and the Vegrons have been building this plan for three hundred years to complete the greater cause!”

NYSSA
(disapprovingly) “Plan to do what?”

DOMUS CLAG
(proudly) “To mass the humans of this tiny planet in order to build my own empire. To build my new Vegron empire!”

The trio observe how Domus Clag becomes proud in his actions with Sinclair at his side.

SCENE #98 – INT – TRANSMAT CENTRE, VEGRON BASE  – DAY – SUMMER 2163
Somewhere else in the Vegron base, a teleportation beam occurs, as a batch of Vegron soldiers have been teleported from Thursdan station to get to here. The Vegrons step off the transmat pad, followed by their Vegron commander. The Vegron commander turns to his troops to give them orders.

VEGRON COMMANDER
(hisses) “All Vegron troops will report for debriefing immediately! The Vegron cause is nearly assured already!”

The Vegrons move out as they make to follow their orders and report for debriefing. As they move out, one of the Vegron soldiers is on his own as he heads for the other direction. He makes to move down the corridor, but before he does so, we hear him lifting his visor up and breathing deeply as to indicate he feels hot. It is actually Billy, as he tries to feel the fresh air and slings his arms down.

BILLY
(feeling hot) “I can’t imagine the Nazis ever wanting to wear this gear! I could do with a nice cool drink of water.” (Pause) “Come on Billy. Let’s see if we can find Mr. Adams, hey!”

Billy slips his visor down as he moves forward and makes his way down to find Adams.

SCENE #99 – INT – CAVES, VEGRON BASE – DAY – SUMMER 2163
Billy finds himself in the cave dwellings of the Vegron base, where he sees the human slave workers working hard under terrible conditions and being treated cruelly by the Vegron guards. There is moaning and groaning on odd occasions, as well as the Vegrons hissing and snarling very viciously. Billy walks slowly as he makes his way down the passageway.

BILLY
(to himself) “What a frightful sight! All these people!” (Pause) “I hope Mr. Adams isn’t among this lot!”

As Billy walks down in his Vegron armour, he then hears the Vegron general talking to Thomas and Percy, as they’ve just come out of the Vegron throne room with Domus Clag.

VEGRON GENERAL
“You two! I want you to arrange the cells of our three prisoners! The Doctor and his two friends must be prevented from escaping from these walls!”

THOMAS
“We understand!”

PERCY
“The Doctor and his friends will not escape!”

VEGRON GENERAL
“Then see to it!”

Thomas and Percy depart to arrange the prison cells, whilst the Vegron general overlooks the slave workings. Billy contemplates the information he’s learnt.

BILLY
(to himself) “The Doctor! He’s here! That also means that…Mr. Adams…and Nyssa!” (worried) “I just hope I’ll be able to find them.”

Billy then walks on forward as he attempts to find the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams.

VEGRON GENERAL
“Hey! You!”

Billy jumps with a fright, as he turns to see the Vegron general looking at him.

VEGRON GENERAL
“Come here!”

Billy, without saying a word, makes his way forward to the Vegron general to see what he wants.

VEGRON GENERAL
(to Billy) “The three prisoners will be escorted to the Vegron prison once they are finished in the throne room. You will see to it that they are escorted to their cells! Is that understood?”

BILLY
(talking Vegron) “Yes sir.”

VEGRON GENERAL
“Then come with me!”

The Vegron General, followed by Billy, make their way to the Vegron throne room as they walk down the passageway.

BILLY
(to himself) “Getting to the Doctor, Nyssa and Mr. Adams seemed easier than I thought.”

SCENE #100 – INT – THRONE ROOM, VEGRON BASE – DAY – SUMMER 2163
Back in the Vegron throne room, the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams learn more about what Domus Clag and Sinclair intend to do in their plans for conquest.

DOMUS CLAG
“A new Vegron empire!”

DOCTOR
“How very nostalgic!”

NYSSA
“But why capture humans? They don’t have to be slaves to do your work!”

SINCLAIR
“In my experience girl, slavery has been a common concept in the history of the human race.”

DOCTOR
“That’s not altogether true!”

SINCLAIR
“Oh yes it is! I’ve seen it all before! The slave trades in Africa and South America of the 19th century, the Nazi occupation of Germany, the Soviet Union, and the slave labour forces of New York and England in the middle of the 21st century.”

NYSSA
“But there’s no need for you to treat humans as slaves. They haven’t done you any harm!”

DOMUS CLAG
“Humans are a very useful tool for empire building, according to Miss Sinclair who I have great confidence in.”

SINCLAIR
“Thank you, your Excellency!”

DOCTOR
(intrigued) “I’m surprised you managed to come to this stage of empire building by this point of history.”

DOMUS CLAG
“What do you mean, by that Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“Well I mean with all that’s going on in the world today! There’s a huge slave labour period during this century!”

NYSSA
“Doctor, do you mean…?”

DOCTOR
“Yes Nyssa. We’ve been here before. It’s only one year before the occupation ends.”

NYSSA
“I see!”

ADAMS
“But what I don’t understand is…what are all those people digging for in these caves?”

DOMUS CLAG
“They are digging for a special mineral in the cave that will pave the way for achieving the Vegrons’ great power in their new empire!”

DOCTOR
“And what mineral is that?”

DOMUS CLAG
“The mineral known to my dear consort…as Kiltrum!”

NYSSA
“Kiltrum! Is that an alloy composed of gold and white star?”

DOCTOR
“Yes Nyssa, you’re right. I didn’t know Kiltrum has been stuck in the ground all that time!”

SINCLAIR
“It didn’t, Doctor! I planted it there! I made sure it was ready for the Vegrons to dig!”

NYSSA
“Or for the humans to dig! It’s absolutely tyrannical!”

Sinclair and Domus Clag become silent, as they heed upon the words Nyssa declares to them.

SCENE #101 – INT – ENTRANCE TO VEGRON THRONE ROOM – DAY – SUMMER 2163
Billy meanwhile has followed the Vegron general to the front door of the Vegron throne room. They stop immediately as soon as they are outside the door.

VEGRON GENERAL
“Now soldier! We will wait until his Excellency calls! Then we will escort our inferior prisoners to their cells and see that they are locked there!”

BILLY
(talking Vegron) “Yes sir!”

VEGRON GENERAL
“Stand on guard soldier!!”

BILLY
(talking Vegron) “Yes sir!”

The Vegron General and Billy watch on guard. Whilst they do that, Billy listens in to see if he can hear the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams talking in there.

SCENE #102 – INT – THRONE ROOM, VEGRON BASE – DAY – SUMMER 2163
Back in the throne room…

DOCTOR
“Tell me Miss Sinclair! You’ve been on Earth for such a long time haven’t you?”

SINCLAIR
“I arrived on Earth in the year 1800!”

DOCTOR
“I see. Would you care to tell me what species you come from?”

SINCLAIR
“It wouldn’t make any difference if I did tell you!”

DOCTOR
“But would you tell me now?”

SINCLAIR
“No!”

DOCTOR
(intrigued) “Hmm! I thought not!”

ADAMS
“How come you Miss Sinclair and that Mr. Clag ever worked together?”

DOMUS CLAG
“Excellency!”

ADAMS
“Oh thank you! That’s very kind of you!”

NYSSA
“I believe Mr. Adams he’s wants you to call him ‘Excellency’!”

ADAMS
“I know what he means! You think I’m going to take the biscuit and give him a title to satisfy him!”

DOCTOR
“Please, don’t antagonise our hosts Mr. Adams!”

SINCLAIR
“We came to work together through a trade negotiation!”

DOMUS CLAG
“Yes that’s right! Miss Sinclair happens to possess temporal engineering skills and have technological innovation in the temporal field!”

DOCTOR
“And I wonder how that came to be?”

DOMUS CLAG
“I was in a profiteering crisis! I work for the Great Supreme One in the Vegron citadel of Vegros! My planet’s in great jeopardy! I need to find a way to stabilise my glorious empire and to uphold its values and traditions!”

SINCLAIR
So, I made an offer! I said, “How about if I put my temporal engineering skills to good use? Select and gather humans from the planet Earth in different time zones in order to build your magnificent empire?”

DOMUS CLAG
And I accepted her offer with great pleasure.

DOCTOR
And that’s where the railways came in. You gathered passengers from all three time periods of British railways in nineteen sixty-three, twenty sixty-three and twenty-one sixty-three. My goodness, you put a lot of hard work into achieving all this.

SINCLAIR
It was worth the effort and the sacrifice. And I’ve enjoyed such good company with his Excellency.

ADAMS
I’ve never seen you with him?

SINCLAIR
Of course you wouldn’t. I had him here in this underground all this time.

DOCTOR
So, you two must be really old by now.

DOMUS CLAG
(chuckles) “Or that’s something you two won’t understand! About how we’re so young. In fact, during our long and successful collaboration together, I’ve been so fortunate in asking Miss Sinclair to marry me!”

ADAMS
“What?”

SINCLAIR
“And I’ve accepted with great willingness!”

DOCTOR
(disapprovingly) “You two deserve each other!”

ADAMS
“Tsk, tsk. Women, hey?!” (to Nyssa) “No offence, young lady!”

NYSSA
“None taken.” (to Domus Clag) “What about Mr. Jeffries?”

DOMUS CLAG
Jeffries?

NYSSA
The station master of Huttle station that was killed.

SINCLAIR
Oh, Mr. Jeffries! (laughs) We needed someone to make all the necessary arrangements in nineteen sixty-three to collect the passengers and to see that they were sent through the transfer barriers. By that time we had nearly completed the last number of stages of the great empire building of a new Vegros.

DOMUS CLAG
So, we disposed of him immediately.

DOCTOR
There was no need to dispose him so brutally.

SINCLAIR
The man was a mascot. And he was already greedy. He got what was coming to him.

NYSSA
“But that’s murder! Callous undignified murder!”

ADAMS
“How horrible you are! You’re not the secretary I remember!”

SINCLAIR
“I’m not your secretary Mr. Adams! I never was! That was just a way of passing my own lovely self at the station!” (Pause; to Domus Clag) “You’re Excellency! They have heard enough! They should be taken to their cells!”

DOMUS CLAG
“Absolutely!” (to guards) “Guards! Take our guests to the cell!”

The guards come forward as they are about to take the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams away.

DOMUS CLAG
“I do hope you will find your cells comfortable!”

NYSSA
“Not going to execute us, are you?”

DOMUS CLAG
“We are merciful beings! We’re not murderers always!”

SINCLAIR
“But your execution will be set!” (cheeringly) “Goodbye! Or should I say, au revoir!”

DOCTOR
“I certainly hope not, Miss Sinclair!”

DOMUS CLAG
(to guards) “Take them!”

The guards take them away as they lead the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams from the throne room door, leaving Domus Clag and Sinclair in their throne chairs.

DOMUS CLAG
“Our plans are coming together, my dear!”

SINCLAIR
“Yes. The plans are coming together!”

SCENE #103 – INT – OUTSIDE THRONE ROOM, VEGRON BASE – DAY – SUMMER 2163
Outside, the throne room doors open as the Vegron guards lead the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams out of the throne, whilst the Vegron general and Billy stand to attention as they come out.

VEGRON GUARD #2
“The prisoners are to be taken to their cells, general. His Excellency commands it!”

VEGRON GENERAL
“Very well!” (to Billy) “Soldier! We shall take these prisoners to their cells! I shall lead in front! You take the rear!”

BILLY
(talking Vegron) “Yes sir!”

VEGRON GENERAL
(to prisoners) “You! Move!”

DOCTOR
“Of course! Happy to oblige!”

The Vegron General leads forward with Billy taking the rear, as they escort the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams to their cells. The door of the Vegron throne room closes behind them.

SCENE #104 – INT – PRISON CELLS, VEGRON BASE – DAY – SUMMER 2163
A while later, the Doctor, Nyssa, Adams, escorted by the Vegron general and Billy, eventually arrive at the Vegron Prison Cells. They make their way where a Vegron security chief of the prison cells and the two train drivers Thomas and Percy are waiting.

VEGRON GENERAL
“You two! Are the prisoners’ cells arranged?”

THOMAS
All is prepared.

PERCY
The security chief made sure there is room for all three prisoners in one cell.

VEGRON GENERAL
Very good.

The prison cell doors open as the security chief presses switches on some control panel. The doors open with a creaky rusty metal noise.

VEGRON SECURITY CHIEF
The cells are ready to be occupied.

VEGRON GENERAL
(to Thomas; Percy) Get them inside.

Thomas raises his gun at the prisoners.

THOMAS
Move.

ADAMS
Now see here…

PERCY
“Move or we shoot!”

DOCTOR
“Come on Mr. Adams! Let’s do as they say!”

The Doctor, Nyssa and Adams move into their cells as they about to be locked in.

THOMAS
“The prisoners are in, sir!”

VEGRON GENERAL
“Good!” (to Billy) “You will stay with the security chief and keep watch on the prisoners!”

DOCTOR
(interrupts) “It’s a good thing you’ve got your base of operations in a dark place like caves! I know how Vegrons are sensitive to bright light! Hence why you wear helmets on top! Even underground.”

VEGRON GENERAL
“Silence!” (to security chief) “Lock them up!”

VEGRON SECURITY CHIEF
“Yes sir.”

The security chief presses some buttons on the prison cell control panel, as the door slowly shuts with the same creaky metal noise heard earlier.

DOCTOR
(cheerily) “Goodbye! See you later!”

The door closes shut.

VEGRON GENERAL
“You two! You will come with me!”

THOMAS; PERCY
“Yes sir!”

Thomas and Percy follow the Vegron General, whilst Billy remains with the Vegron security chief, as he contemplates on what to do to create a diversion.

SCENE #105 – INT – PRISON CELL, VEGRON BASE  – DAY – SUMMER 2163
Inside the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams’ prison cells, the three of them contemplate about what to do next. Adams is irritable as ever whilst they talk.

ADAMS
“Well! Here’s another fine mess we’ve got ourselves into! How are we going to get out now?”

NYSSA
“So Sinclair caused the temporal anomaly we detected in the TARDIS!”

DOCTOR
“Yes! I’m rather disappointed that she didn’t tell us which planet’s she from. Then it would save us from playing guessing games again!”

NYSSA
“This Domus Clag and Sinclair have no consideration for this planet at all! It all seems to be part of a business campaign!”

DOCTOR
“Vegrons usually do consider profit before people, Nyssa! They’re not warmongers!”

NYSSA
“That does give us an advantage! We might be able to reason with them to stop them from carrying on with this empire they’ve been seeking to build!”

DOCTOR
“I don’t think so! Vegrons are not so easy to be persuaded!”

NYSSA
“Then how can we stop them?”

DOCTOR
“I don’t think the Vegrons are top priority to consider. What I’m really interested in is Miss Sinclair!”

NYSSA
“Miss Sinclair?”

ADAMS
“I’m in a mad world! A mad world!”

DOCTOR
“Yes. She’s more than what she seems. Domus Clag is so taken in by her charms he can’t see beyond the beauty and think what she really wants from all this!”

NYSSA
“You think Miss Sinclair’s got a hidden agenda then?”

DOCTOR
“Why would she want to help the Vegrons to build their new empire? What is she getting for her own people? Whatever her people are anyway!”

NYSSA
“Yes that is an interesting line of thinking!”

ADAMS
“Oh Alice! I long to see Alice again!”

NYSSA
“Don’t worry Mr. Adams! The Doctor will think of something to get us out!”

ADAMS
“Oh will he indeed? There’s no chance to escape from this one! We’re about to be executed and we can’t even get out of this cursed prison cell!”

DOCTOR
“I don’t think you’d need worry about that, Mr. Adams!”

NYSSA
“See Mr. Adams! I told you the Doctor will think of something!”

DOCTOR
“Not me! All hopes rely on expected help!”

NYSSA
“Billy? You mean unexpected help!”

DOCTOR
“No! Expected!”

ADAMS
“You mean…the boy’s actually here! In these drab caves”

NYSSA
“Outside!”

DOCTOR
“Why do you think I said Vegrons are sensitive to light?”

Nyssa and Adams are puzzled as to why the Doctor said that.

SCENE #106 – INT – PRISON CELLS, VEGRON BASE – DAY – SUMMER 2163
Billy meanwhile is outside as he is about to come up with a diversion to distract the Vegron security chief. He takes out from underneath him his camera, as he’s about to use it for his distraction.

BILLY
(prays) “Oh dear God! Please let this work!”

Billy presses a button on his camera, which makes a little click. He then turns to the Vegron security chief, about to commence his distraction.

BILLY
(talking Vegron, hissing) “Err…excuse me!”

VEGRON SECURITY CHIEF
(snarls) “What do you want?”

Billy shows him the camera.

BILLY
(talking Vegron) “I found this on the floor a while ago, and was about to show it to the general before I was…”

VEGRON SECURITY CHIEF
“What is it? Give me that?”

The security chief snatches the camera from Billy to which he takes a look at it. A few minutes later…

VEGRON SECURITY CHIEF
“Where did you find it?”

BILLY
(talking Vegron) “Err…I found it on the walkway! The thing was it did something interesting when I pressed the button!”

VEGRON SECURITY CHIEF
“What button?”

BILLY
(talking Vegron) “That button there!”

VEGRON SECURITY CHIEF
“What this button?”

BILLY
(almost smirks) “Yes! Why don’t you press it?”

VEGRON SECURITY CHEIF
(thinks) “Alright! I don’t see why not…”

The security chief presses the button on the camera, to which it immediately flashes to produce a bright light. The camera flashes, and the security chief shrieks out in pain.

VEGRON SECURITY CHIEF
(shrieks) “My eyes! My eyes! My beautiful bullion eyes!”

The security chief is then struck on the head by something, as Billy uses the Vegron gun he’s been carrying to knock the security chief unconscious. The security chief falls to the ground.

BILLY
(to security chief) “Sorry mate! I’ll take my camera back please!”

Billy picks up his camera before he runs over to the security cell with the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams inside.

BILLY
(calls) “Doctor! Nyssa! Mr. Adams! Are you in there?”

NYSSA
(calls) Billy! Thank goodness you’re alright!

DOCTOR
(calls) Billy! Did you use your camera?

BILLY
(calls) Yes Doctor, I did! How do I get you out?

DOCTOR
(calls) Press the green buttons twice then the yellow buttons three times and the red button once!

BILLY
(worried) Right!

Billy runs to the control panel. But as he gets to it, he’s at a loss as to what to do.

BILLY
(calls) Err…err…! What is it again, Doctor?

DOCTOR
(calls) Green buttons twice! Yellow buttons three times and red button once!

BILLY
(calls) “Right!”

ADAMS
(calls) “Hurry up boy! Hurry up!”

BILLY
(calls) “I’m going as fast as I can!” (cries in pain) “Ow! My knee!”

NYSSA
(calls) “Are you alright Billy?”

BILLY
(calls) “I’m sorry about that! I hit my knee up on the panel!”

ADAMS
(calls) “Oh come on! Even little mice can work as hard as that!”

NYSSA
(to Adams) Be patient, Mr. Adams! Billy’s doing his best! He needs to take his time with understanding the controls!

DOCTOR
Yes, Nyssa! But I’m afraid time isn’t on our side! (calls; to Billy) Come on, Billy! Hurry up!

BILLY
(calls) Yes! Err…green buttons twice!

Billy presses the green buttons.

BILLY
(calls) What comes after green buttons?

DOCTOR
(calls) Yellow buttons three times and red button once!

BILLY
(calls) Red button once and yellow buttons three times!

DOCTOR; NYSSA; ADAMS
(shouts) The other way round!

BILLY
(shouts) “The other way round!”

Billy presses the yellow buttons and the red button. Eventually the Doctor, Nyssa and Adams are released from their cell. They run out to reunite with Billy.

BILLY
“Thank goodness! It worked!”

NYSSA
(pleased) “Thank you Billy for saving us!”

BILLY
“My pleasure!”

ADAMS
“Yeah! Took you a while to get us though didn’t it?!”

DOCTOR
“Never mind about that, we’ve got to get away from here!”

NYSSA
“How did you know which buttons would be which when opening the door, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“Oh really Nyssa! Never judge my intelligence!”

NYSSA
“I’m not making judgements! I’m just curious…”

A loud alarm sounds off to indicate an emergency.

DOCTOR
(panics) “An alarm! Oh no!”

BILLY
(realises) “Doctor! That security chief! The one I distracted! He was on a floor a minute ago! And he’s not here!”

NYSSA
“He must have sounded the alarm!”

ADAMS
“Whilst this boy here was trying to get us out!”

DOCTOR
“Come on! Let’s go!”

ADAMS
“But where are we going?”

DOCTOR
“Just do as I say! Follow me! Quickly!”

The Doctor, Nyssa, Billy and Adams run ahead as they escape from the prison cells.

SCENE #107 – INT – WALKWAY, VEGRON BASE – DAY – SUMMER 2163
The Doctor is way ahead running on foot through the walkways, whilst Nyssa, Billy and Adams tag on behind!

NYSSA
“Come on you two! Catch up!”

BILLY
“I’m going as far as I can! I need to get out of this armour! I feel so hot in here!”

ADAMS
(out of breath) “I need a break from all this!”

With much huffing and puffing, the four continue running to avoid being caught by the Vegrons.

SCENE #108 – INT – THRONE ROOM, VEGRON BASE  – DAY – SUMMER 2163
Meanwhile in the throne room, Domus Clag and Sinclair are sitting in their throne chairs as they hear the alarm sound blaring all over the Vegron base of operations. The door of the throne room opens, as the Vegron general enters.

DOMUS CLAG
“What is going on, general? Why is the alarm being sounded?”

The Vegron general approaches bowing courteously to Domus Clag and Sinclair.

VEGRON GENERAL
“You’re Excellency!”

DOMUS CLAG
“I insist that I and my partner will not be interrupted by these petty disturbances! Can’t you control your slaves better?”

VEGRON GENERAL
“Forgive me, your Excellency! But it is not the slaves that are endangering the operations of our mission.”

DOMUS CLAG
“Then pray what is it?”

VEGRON GENERAL
“The Doctor and his friends have escaped! Obviously with some help!”

DOMUS CLAG
“How inconvenient!” (thinks) “General! Send out your troops! Inform them that they are to find the fugitives and that they are to be shot on sight!”

SINCLAIR
“No! Please let’s not have them killed!”

DOMUS CLAG
“What say you my dear?”

SINCLAIR
“My dear Excellency, surely it’s wiser to keep these mysterious strangers alive!”

DOMUS CLAG
“What are you saying, my dear? That the Doctor and his friends should roam about ruining our operations?”

SINCLAIR
“The Doctor and his friends may be of some valuable use to us, my dear!”

DOMUS CLAG
“Very well!” (to Vegron general) “General, send our troops! But do not shoot! See to it that they are brought alive!”

VEGRON GENERAL
(hisses) “As you command sir!”

The Vegron general departs hastily as he goes to seek out and search for the Doctor and friends. Meanwhile Domus Clag and Sinclair are left alone.

DOMUS CLAG
Now…my dear bride to be! What shall we do about our plans?

SINCLAIR
Now, your Excellency! We have time to ponder on that later! But first, let’s sort out the business with our agents.

  1. Timelord 007

Sorry I’ve not posted as much as I’d liked Tim but i been having a few health issues regarding my dad, anyway just finished chapter 10 & I’m excited to see what happens next.

I can hear this story being performed in my mind, I’d really love Big Finish to adapt this it’s a amazing engaging & tense story, your characterisation of the Doctor & Nyssa are spot on, the villains are threatening & pose a genuine menace & the story flows at a great pace.

I’m proud of your accomplishments Tim with your blog, your storys, your reviews but most of all your down to earth genuine nice guy.

    Bring on Chapter 11.

Hi Simon. That’s okay, don’t worry about it. I gathered you’ve had a few health issues lately. Sorry to hear that. Hope things are improving for you and your dad. You read this story when you can.

Glad you’ve enjoyed Chapter 10 of ‘The Railway of Time’. I’ve been kept happy with some lovely comments from Leigh about ‘The Space Hotel’ as she seems to be enjoying that story. I’ve been busy lately getting ‘Doom of the Daleks’ ready for my blog.

I’m pleased you can hear the story in your mind and that you’d like BF to adapt this into audio. I would like BF to adapt it into audio too. Glad you like how I’ve written for the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa and that you like the villains. I can’t wait to read a complete review of the story by Timelord-007. 😀

Thanks for your kind comments, Simon. Hope you enjoy Chapter 11 and the rest of the story.

I’m looking forward to ‘The Peterloo Massacre’ soon by BF. I hope to listen to that with ‘Aquitaine’ soon. I wouldn’t mind getting it signed by Sarah as I’m going to see her soon at Birmingham this month in March.

    Thanks again. Tim. 🙂
