Disney+ Roundup – ‘Six Days, Seven Nights’ & ‘Air Force One’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s that time again for another Disney+ Roundup on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. Today, we’re looking at a couple of films which star Harrison Ford in the lead role. If you’re hankering for more Harrison Ford after watching the ‘Indiana Jones’ movies on Disney+ or at the cinema, then these films are for you.

The first Harrison Ford film I saw recently on Disney+ is a 1998 film called ‘Six Days, Seven Nights’. The film was directed by Ivan Reitman and it stars Harrison Ford with Anne Heche in it. I enjoyed seeing this film on Disney+, as it was very gripping to get into. It has a fun-filled summer quality to it.

In ‘Six Days, Seven Nights’, Anne Heche stars as Robin, a New York magazine editor who meets Harrison Ford as the gruff pilot Quinn whilst on holiday with her boyfriend in Makatea, an island in the South Pacific. Robin and Quinn must put aside their differences once they end up on an island. 😐

This is an action-adventure comedy film with a romance story going on between Harrison Ford and Anne Heche’s characters. Whilst I appreciate the love story going on in the film, I’m not sure about the age differences between the main leads, since Harrison Ford is clearly older than Anne Heche. 😐

The film also features David Schwimmer (who you may recognise for being in ‘Friends’) as Frank Martin, the boyfriend Robin started going out with on her holiday in Makatea. There’s also Jacqueline Obradors as Angelica, who I believe might be Harrison Ford as Quinn’s girlfriend at the film’s start. 😀

There’s also Temuera Morrison (well-known for playing Boba Fett in recent ‘Star Wars’ shows like ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘The Book of Boba Fett’) as Jager, the leader of a group of pirates. There’s also Allison Janney as Marjoire. Danny Trejo plays another one of the pirates in the film called Pierce.

The second Harrison Ford film I saw recently on Disney+ is a 1997 film called ‘Air Force One’. This is a more tension-driven film compared to ‘Six Days, Seven Nights’ and it has Harrison Ford playing the President of the United States. Harrison Ford is a very impressive action-driven president in the film. 😀

In the film, Harrison Ford as President James Marshall is caught in a hijack aboard Air Force One, the US President’s private plane. A group of terrorists led by Gary Oldman as Egor Korshunov hijack the plane and the President must save everyone on board, including his family, by retaking the plane. 😐

As well as Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman, there’s Glenn Close (Cruella de Vil in the live-action ‘101 Dalmatians’ films) as Vice President Kathryn Bennett, who commands the terrorist situation in the White House. There’s Wendy Crewson playing Grace Marshall, James’ wife and America’s First Lady.

There’s Xander Berkeley as Secret Service Special Agent Gibbs, William H. Macy as Major Norman Caldwell, Dean Stockwell as Defense Secretary Walter Dean and Paul Guilfoyle as White House Chief of Staff Lloyd Shepherd. The film’s director is Wolfgang Peterson, and I found it so well put-together.

I recognised Elya Baskin (who played Mr. Ditkovitch in the original ‘Spider-Man’ film trilogy) as Andrei Kolchak, Korshunov’s best friend, trusted lieutenant and pilot. The film also features Liesel Matthews as Alice, the President’s daughter. Every cast member in the film delivers a great performance.

‘Six Days, Seven Nights’ and ‘Air Force One’ have been a couple of very enjoyable films featuring Harrison Ford as the main lead. ‘Air Force One’ is better than ‘Six Days, Seven Nights’, considering the action-packed and tension-driven plot it has, but I still enjoyed Harrison Ford in both films on Disney+. 🙂

Stay tuned for another Disney+ Roundup on ‘Bradley’s Basement’ soon. 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂

      Hi scifimike,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Anne Heche. I think ‘Six Days, Seven Nights’ was a proper experience of Anne Heche for me compared to ‘The Adventures of Huck Finn’. Yeah, I just found out Anne Heche passed away last year. So sad to discover that.

Many thanks for your comments. Glad you enjoyed my latest Harrison Ford film reviews.

        Hi scifimike,

Not yet. I know my best mate Stephen has enjoyed the ‘Blade Runner’ films. I’ll have to rent them on Prime Video when I get the chance to see them since they’re owned by Warner Bros.

        Thanks,

        Tim 🙂
