daleks-q1

13. Course for Yondamus IV

Roll original 1982 Peter Davison opening credits

REPRISE
Dalek Lab #4 shudders violently. Everyone, except the Daleks, falls to the floor. They soon get back to their feet, as Captain Sulley addresses the Doctor.

CAPTAIN
“Doctor? What are the Daleks saying? What do they mean?”

The lab shudders violently again.

DOCTOR
“It means, Captain…that the Dalek’s are controlling the orbital path of Yondamus Prime. Ambassador Togal would not be happy to see this.”

ELAINE
“Orbit path of Yondamus Prime?”

DOCTOR
“The Daleks are taking us to Yondamus Four, Elaine. And they’re using Yondamus Prime as a spaceship.”

SCENE #142 – EXT – YONDAMUS SPACE – 26TH CENTURY – N/A
The Daleks now pilot the planet of Yondamus Prime into space. The planet journeys for its destination to Yondamus IV. The Dalek fleet; the Dalek Mothership and the Moonraker travel alongside the Yondamus Prime planet at warp speed. On the surface of the planet, land masses fragment and oceans cause tidal waves and tsunamis all over.

SCENE #143 – INT – EMPEROR DALEK’S CHAMBER – 26TH CENTURY – EVENING
The Emperor Dalek’s pride is unwavering. Housed in its chamber, it looks down on its Dalek subjects and declares victory.

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) THE PRIME PLANET OF YONDAMUS SHALL BE OUR WAR MACHINE! THE DALEKS SHALL OBLITERATE WITH THE MIGHT OF ALL ULTIMATE POWER. THE DWAXI SHALL DETERIORATE! EXTERMINATE THE DWAXI AND THE DALEKS WILL BE SUPREME AGAIN!

DALEKS
EXTERMINATE THE DWAXI AND THE DALEKS WILL BE SUPREME AGAIN! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!

(CONTINUES INTO:)

SCENE #144 – INT – DALEK LAB #4 – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
Back in Dalek lab #4, the Doctor; Elaine and Captain Sulley talk to the Supreme Dalek and Colin whilst they’re held at gun point.

DOCTOR
So…you’ve managed to achieve planetary control through the space ways. I congratulate you.

SUPREME DALEK
DALEK SUPERIORITY CAN-NOT BE FAULTED! THE DWAXI FORCE WILL CRUMBLE TO OUR POWER. THE TWO PLANETS WILL CONVERGE AND THE DWAXI WILL BE EXTERMINATED!

CAPTAIN
Aren’t you just being too ambitious? After all, the gravitational pull will disintegrate this planet into smithereens.

ELAINE
Yeah. The volcanic eruptions; earthquakes and tidal waves would tear this planet to shreds. You’d have nothing left of this.

DALEK UNIT #195
OUR TECHNOLOGY IS GREATER THAN YOURS!

DALEK UNIT #196
DALEKS DO NOT MAKE MISTAKES!

DOCTOR
(wryly) How very modest of you!

COLIN
The Daleks have taken everything into consideration. They were able to stabilise the environmental and structural forces to ensure that this journey in space would be achieved compared to the last attempt which you foiled, Doctor.

CAPTAIN
“What’s happened to you, Mr. Wilson? Why have you turned your back on your shipmates?”

COLIN
Shipmates? They’re not friends of mine. They’re insignificant. Weak. Inferior!

ELAINE
You sound like a Dalek, Colin.

COLIN
Maybe that’s because I feel like one. I’m so much better than any other human being. The Daleks have granted me life if I work for them. So far it’s been very rewarding. So I shall be part of something extraordinary and gain the power of infinite knowledge to control the universe like the Daleks.

DOCTOR
Mr. Wilson! That’s just a dream. The Daleks don’t take allies. They just use you for their own purposes.

ELAINE
I thought you were nutty and power-hungry Colin, but never bonkers!

COLIN
Ah but that’s just it, you see. You’ve never ever encouraged me in the role of commander! You’ve always held me back! Thought I was nothing!

ELAINE
“That’s not true, Colin! I’ve encouraged you…”

COLIN
Never call me Colin, Commander Thomas! Never again! I don’t make friends with such insignificant people!

ELAINE
How can you say such horrible things, Colin? I thought we were buddies and comrades all the time!

CAPTAIN
Colin Wilson, I insist you give yourself up and leave the Daleks.

DOCTOR
(wryly) Oh that should do it very well, Captain.

SUPREME DALEK
LIEUTENANT COMMANDER WILSON BELONGS TO US NOW. HE WILL OBEY US. DALEKS DO NOT EXPECT TO FORM RELATIONS. WE EXPECT THE SAME OF WILSON.

Moment of silence.

DOCTOR
(gloomily) So, what happens now? We make our way to Yondamus Four. What do you intend to do?

SUPREME DALEK
THE DALEK ARMY WILL PLACE THE BATTLEFIELD. ALL DALEK FORCES WILL CONVERGE ON THE DWAXI BASE AND OBLITERATE EVERY SINGLE SOLDIER AND TROOPER THAT OPPOSES US! YOU DOC-TOR WILL CARRY ON WITH YOUR WORK TO PROVIDE THE ANTIGEN FOR THE YENTIAS DRUG IMMEDIATELY!

The Doctor feels helpless, as he contemplates the situation he is in.

SCENE #145 – INT – EMPEROR DALEK’S CHAMBER – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
Meanwhile with the Emperor Dalek in his chamber, he addresses the Agent Dalek.

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms; to Agent Dalek) “ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL TO YONDAMUS FOUR IS REQUIRED.”

AGENT DALEK
ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL: THREE POINT FIVE ONE GIGA-RELS. THE DWAXI WILL BE ABLE TO DETECT OUR PRESENCE WITH THEIR SCANNERS.

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) IT WILL BE OF NO CONSEQUENCE. SOON THE DALEK FORCES WILL EXTERMINATE THE IMPOSTORS.

AGENT DALEK
THE DOCTOR WILL CONTINUE WITH HIS WORK. HE WILL NOT DISOBEY US!

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) YOU SHALL SEE TO IT THAT THE DOCTOR DOES NOT FALTER! HE WILL FIND THE ANTIGEN TO EXTERMINATE THE DWAXI. HE KNOWS THE DOOM OF THE UNIVERSE AS WELL AS FOR THE DALEK RACE! SEE TO IT!

AGENT DALEK
I UNDERSTAND.

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) HIS ACTIONS WILL BE MONITORED FREQUENTLY OR…

Suddenly, a Dalek alarm blares off loudly in the chamber. This causes some of the Emperor Daleks’s guards to skittle; scatter and goes into a panic.

DALEKS
(panics) “ALERT! ALERT! EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY!”

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms; panics) “WHAT IS HAPPENING? WHAT IS THE EMERGENCY?”

AGENT DALEK
“RECEIVING REPORT NOW!”

The Agent Dalek glides to a console to receive the report from all sections of the Dalek converted planet. A short while later…

AGENT DALEK
“DALEK SECTION FOUR SQUADRON REPORTS THAT DALEK MOTHER-SHIP IS UNDER ATTACK.”

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) ATTACK?

AGENT DALEK
YES.

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) BY WHOM?

AGENT DALEK
BY THE EARTH SHIP MOON-RAKER!

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE! DALEKS HAVE TAKEN CONTROL OF EARTH SHIP MOON-RAKER.

DALEK EMPEROR GUARD
IT IS CONFIRMED! DALEK MOTHER-SHIP IS ATTACKED BY PHOTON MISSILES AND LASERS. SIGNATURES OF WEAPONS FIRE ARE IMPENDING FROM THE EARTH SHIP.

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? EXPLAIN! EXPLAIN! EXPLAIN!!!!!

SCENE #146 – INT – DALEK LAB #4 – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
In Dalek Lab #4, the alarm blares loudly and causes the Daleks to skittle; scatter and go into a panic.

DALEKS
(panics) ALERT! ALERT! THE DALEK FLEET IS IN DISTRESS! ALERT! ALERT!

DOCTOR
Having problems, are you?

ELAINE
What’s going on?

SUPREME DALEK
(rants) DALEK MOTHER-SHIP IS IN DISTRESS. SUFFERING ATTACKS FROM EARTH SHIP MOON-RAKER! THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE! DALEKS ARE IN CONTROL OF EARTH SHIP MOON-RAKER!

ELAINE
If the Daleks’ aren’t in control of the Moonraker, who could be controlling it?

CAPTAIN
(realises) Of course! The surviving crew!

ELAINE
What?

CAPTAIN
(delighted) Down in the mines. Where we were digging for the core of Yondamus Prime. They must have managed to beam back on board the ship and take control of the ship.

SUPREME DALEK
“THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE! DALEKS ARE GREATER IN STRENGTH THAN HUMANS. HUMANS CAN-NOT OPPOSE DALEKS.”

DOCTOR
“Oh yes they can! And you know that very well. Human beings have fought against Daleks and beaten them. And they’ve done it again!”

CAPTAIN
“You shouldn’t have betrayed us so early, Mr. Wilson. I told you members of the crew would survive.”

COLIN
“I don’t need to escape. The Daleks are my salvation!”

Just then the Doctor snatches one of the tubes containing the Yentias drug off from the table. The Doctor holds it in his hands, as the Daleks back away.

DOCTOR
“Not without this, I believe. The Daleks’ plan are useless without me providing the antigen for the Dwaxi so…” (realises; puzzled) “…why are you are all backing away?”

SUPREME DALEK
(panics) “DO NOT DROP THE TUBE, DOCTOR! DO NOT DROP IT! DO NOT DROP IT!”

ELAINE
(puzzled) Why, what’s the matter? Why are you Daleks getting so hoity-toity…?

SUPREME DALEK
(panics) PUT THE TUBE BACK ON THE TABLE, DOCTOR. PUT IT BACK! PUT IT BACK! PUT IT BACK!

DOCTOR
Why? Why are you so frightened? That I might drop this tube containing the Yentias drug?

COLIN
(insistently; to Doctor) Do as they say. Doctor! Do not disobey the Daleks!

CAPTAIN
What’s all this about, Mr. Wilson.

COLIN
(gritted teeth; to Doctor) Put the device back on the table now, Doctor!

DOCTOR
You’re scared of this drug, aren’t you? That’s it! Whatever ingredients are contained in this drug you’re scared that if I drop it…

DALEK UNIT #195
DALEKS DO NOT FEAR!

DALEK UNIT #196
“DALEKS DO NOT GET SCARED!!”

SUPREME DALEK
(threateningly) “YOU WILL PLACE THE TUBE BACK ON THE TABLE OR BE EXTERMINATED!”

DOCTOR
“You’re as vulnerable to this device as the Dwaxi are to provide their strength! No wonder you get beaten by the Dwaxi so easily.” (Pause) “What’s in this drug anyway?”

SUPREME DALEK
“IT DOES NOT CONCERN YOU!”

DOCTOR
“Oh I think it does, actually. If I’m to analyse it to find an antigen, I need to know…”

Suddenly, a teleport takes place as the Doctor; Elaine; Colin and Captain Sulley get caught in a beam of light. The Daleks scuttle and panic once they see this.

DALEK UNIT #195
(panics) “ALERT! ALERT! TELEPORTATION IN PROGRESS. THE PRISONERS ARE ESCAPING!”

DALEK UNIT #196
(panics) “THE DOC-TOR IS CAUGHT IN TRANSIT!”

SUPREME DALEK
“DO NOT LET HIM ESCAPE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!”

The Dalek raise their weapons at the Doctor; Elaine; Colin and Captain Sulley in the teleport beam.

DOCTOR
(angrily) “No! Not now! NOT NOW!!”

COLIN
(yells) “No! You can’t take me! YOU CAN’T TAKE ME AWAY…”

Colin’s voice echoes through the teleport. The Daleks open fire with their weapons, but it’s too late. The Doctor; Elaine; Colin and Captain Sulley are gone as the teleport beam fades away.

DALEK UNIT #196
“THE DOCTOR HAS ESCAPED!”

SUPREME DALEK
“THE EMPEROR MUST BE INFORMED!”

SCENE #147 – EXT – YONDAMUS SPACE – 26TH CENTURY – N/A
In outer space, the Moonraker travels beside Yondamus Prime before moving out of its orbital direction. As it zooms off, it fires its phaser weapons and attacks Dalek ships to escape their pursuit.

SCENE #148 – INT – TELEPORT ROOM, MOONRAKER – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
In the teleport room, two starship lieutenants (male and female) conduct the teleport of the Doctor; Captain Sulley; Elaine and Colin. Both lieutenants sigh with relief once the teleport has been successful.

FEMALE LIEUTENANT
“Thank goodness!”

MALE LIEUTENANT
“Good to have you back, Captain. We were so worried…”

DOCTOR
(interrupts; frustrated) “I was in the middle of discovering something important!”

FEMALE LIEUTENANT
“Sir?”

DOCTOR
(agitated) “And just as I was about to discover the Daleks’ reason for fearing the drug that the Dwaxi use, you had to beam us out! Very inconvenient!”

MALE LIEUTENANT
(confused) “You want to go back, sir?”

DOCTOR
(raises voice) “Go back? Go back?! Do you think I’m mad?!”

ELAINE
(interrupts; to Female Lieutenant) “Lieutenant. Take Mr Wilson to the brig! He’s under arrest!”

FEMALE LIEUTENANT
“Yes, mam.”

COLIN
(protests) “No! You can’t take me! You can’t take me!”

But the female lieutenant takes Colin Wilson away with her, as she leads him out of the teleport room. The doors slides open as they leave, before Colin struggles to get back into the teleport room.

COLIN
(shouts) “You won’t get away with this, all of you! The Daleks will get you! And when they do…you’ll wish you all weren’t born!”

The female lieutenant takes Colin with her as the teleport room doors slide shut. Meanwhile, the Captain addresses the Male Lieutenant.

CAPTAIN
(interrupts; to Male Lieutenant) “Lieutenant? What’s the status of the Moonraker’s engines?”

MALE LIEUTENANT
They’re still intact. We had to repair one of the quantum inducers once we were able to disable the Daleks controlling the ship.”

DOCTOR
“Can we achieve maximum warp with this ship?”

MALE LIEUTENANT
Yes we can. Maximum warp at nine point five should do the trick!”

DOCTOR
“Well it’d be good enough to get ahead of the Dalek fleet. Get this ship into warp drive immediately!”

CAPTAIN
“Excuse me, Doctor! I’m in command of this vessel and I decide where it goes.” (to Elaine) “Commander Thomas. You will accompany me to the bridge.”

Elaine follows Captain Sulley as they with the Doctor and the male lieutenant leave the teleport room.

SCENE #149 – INT – MAIN BRIDGE, MOONRAKER – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
On the bridge of the Moonraker, the turbo-lift doors slide open. Captain Sulley; Elaine; the Doctor and the male lieutenant enter. The bridge crew is now smaller and things aren’t busy as they used to be on the bridge.

MALE LIEUTENANT
“Captain on the bridge!”

Everyone on the bridge stands to attention once the Captain has entered.

CAPTAIN
“As you were.” (to Elaine) “Commander Thomas, take the helm.”

ELAINE
Aye, Captain.

Everyone resumes their stations as Elaine sits at the helm controls of the ship. Captain Sulley sits in the captain’s chair, whilst the Doctor stands beside him.

MALE LIEUTENANT
Captain. Dalek ships converging on Moonraker.

The bridge shudders, once shots of Dalek firepower pound on the hull outside.

ELAINE
Shield’s still holding. At eighty-nine percent.

The Doctor leans forward to speak to the Captain.

DOCTOR
(to Captain) Captain, I must find my friends Nyssa and Billy. If the Daleks are going to be in the battlefield for Yondamus Four then that’s where they’ll be.

CAPTAIN
“Believe me, Doctor. Yondamus Four is exactly where I’m intent on going.” (to Elaine) “Commander Thomas. Set a course for Yondamus Four. Maximum warp.”

ELAINE
“Yes, Captain.”

Elaine presses buttons at the controls to the ship.

ELAINE
“Entering flight path. Warp nine point nine ready, sir.”

CAPTAIN
“Engage!”

Elaine plots in the set course for Yondamus IV.

SCENE #150 – EXT – YONDAMUS SPACE – 26TH CENTURY – N/A
The Moonraker, still gunned by Dalek ships in space, increases speed. Eventually, the Moonraker whirs its engines and blasts off into warp drive. The Moonraker makes for Yondamus IV, leaving the Dalek fleet behind.

SCENE #151 – INT – EMPEROR DALEK’S CHAMBER – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
On Yondamus Prime, in the Emperor Dalek’s Chamber, the Supreme Dalek reports to the Emperor Dalek.

SUPREME DALEK
THE DOC-TOR HAS ESCAPED. HE HAS TAKEN A SAMPLE OF THE YENTIAS DRUG AND IS ON BOARD THE EARTH SHIP MOON-RAKER WITH CAPTAIN SULLEY.

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) YOU HAVE FAILED IN YOUR ROLE TO SERVE THE DALEK CAUSE!

SUPREME DALEK
THIS WAS A MATTER BEYOND MY CONTROL! THE DOC-TOR WAS ABLE TO CAUSE A DISTRACTION…

AGENT DALEK
EXCUSES ARE NOT PERMISSIBLE! YOU HAVE FAILED THE EMPEROR! YOU HAVE FAILED IN YOUR MISSION!

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) YOU ARE NO LONGER FIT TO BE IN SUPREME COMMAND. FAILURE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! EXTERMINATE!!!

SUPREME DALEK
(panics) “NO! NO! NO!!!!”

Within moments, the Emperor Dalek fires a huge blast of energy at the Supreme Dalek. The Supreme Dalek blows up into smithereens with its casing falling apart. The mutant within the Supreme Dalek’s casing withers and dies.

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms; to Agent Dalek) YOU SHALL REPLACE THAT DALEK. YOU ARE TO BE SUPREME DALEK MARK TWO.

AGENT DALEK
I OBEY!

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) REPORT ON THE HUMAN AGENT COLIN WILSON.

AGENT DALEK
HE WAS CAUGHT IN TRANSITION WITH TELEPORT TO MOON-RAKER. HE WILL BE IN THE EARTH SHIP’S CUSTODY!

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) HE SHALL BE USED FOR THE ULTIMATE PURPOSE LATER. WHAT IS THE EARTH SHIP’S CONDITION?

AGENT DALEK
EARTH SHIP MOON-RAKER NOW ENTERED INTO WARP DRIVE. IT IS BEYOND FIRING REACH!

EMPEROR DALEK
(booms) PURSUE AND CONTINUE! WE MUST CONTINUE ON WITH OUR MISSION! THIS SECTOR WILL BE PURIFIED AND WASH THE FILTH THAT DWAXI FORCES PRODUCE! ALERT ALL DALEK UNITS TO BEWARE OF DWAXI ATTACK!

SCENE #152 – INT – CORRIDOR, DALEK PATROL SHIP – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
On Yondamus IV, Billy; Nyssa; Boco and Hilda are prisoners of the Daleks. They’ve been taken into the Daleks’ patrol ship on the plains of Micros Pli, as they walk down a corridor.

BOCO
“Hilda?”

HILDA
“Yes, Boco.”

BOCO
“I’m really worried about our Sandy. He’s out there lost and could get caught by those Daleks. I just hope he hasn’t got himself killed already.”

HILDA
(reassuringly) “Don’t worry about Sandy, dear. I’m sure he’ll look after himself.”

BOCO
“Well, I’d miss our hunting to catch fish in the river if he was dead. Even though there aren’t any fish to catch. And there aren’t any rivers to catch them in.”

HILDA
“Don’t fret about it, Boco. We’ll get out! You’ll see.”

The leader of the Dalek patrol called the Dalek Hunter glides up to address the four prisoners. It raises its eye-stalk to look at them.

DALEK HUNTER
“HALT! YOU WILL HALT HERE!”

The four prisoners stop as they are instructed.

DALEK HUNTER
“TURN ROUND!”

Nyssa; Billy; Boco and Hilda turn round to face the Daleks. The Daleks raise their sucker sticks at them.

NYSSA
“What are you going to do with us?”

DALEK HUNTER
“YOU WILL BE OF POTENTIAL USE TO THE DALEKS. OUR FORCES WILL BE APPROACHING THIS PLANET VERY SHORTLY!”

BILLY
“What use can we be to you?”

DALEK HUNTER
“THAT IS NOT FOR YOU TO KNOW. YOU WILL BE ASSESSED FOR INTELLIGENCE LEVELS. THE ONES CHOSEN FOR GREATER THINGS WILL BE TREATED WELL ACCORDINGLY! THE WEAKEST AND LEAST IMPORTANT WILL PERISH!”

NYSSA
“No! Don’t do this!”

Ignoring Nyssa’s pleas, the Dalek Hunter addresses one of the patrol Daleks.

DALEK HUNTER
(to Dalek Patrol Unit #1) DALEK PATROL UNIT ONE. YOU WILL ASSESS THESE PRISONERS’ LEVELS OF INTELLIGENCE.

Dalek Patrol Unit #1 glides forward to assess the first prisoner, Hilda. It raises its sucker stick, just as Hilda backs away.

HILDA
(retaliates) No! I’m not going to get scanned by you!

DALEK HUNTER
OBEY THE DALEKS! YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE!

Hilda cries, as she’s cornered by some more Daleks gliding in behind her. Patrol Dalek Unit #1 extends its sucker stick up at Hilda to assess her brain.

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
INTELLIGENCE SCAN: INITIATE!

Patrol Dalek Unit #1’s sucker stick cap swirls round and round to access the brain patterns of Hilda. Hilda trembles in fear, as Patrol Dalek Unit #1 continues its assessment of her.

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
SPECIES: HUMAN. INTELLIGENCE CAPACITY: LEVEL EIGHT POINT NINE SEVEN. SATISFACTORY.

Patrol Dalek Unit #1 lowers its sucker stick from Hilda, as it moves onto the next Dalek Prisoner: Boco.

BOCO
(defiantly) “Don’t you raise that sucker stick thing to me, you dastardly vermin pot…”

But the Dalek has already raised its sucker stick at Boco’s head. Boco stutters and blubbers, as Patrol Dalek Unit #1 begins its assessment of him.

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
“INTELLIGENCE SCAN: INITIATE!”

The sucker cap twists and turns, as the Dalek scans Boco for his intelligence levels.

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
“SPECIES: HUMAN. INTELLIGENCE CAPACITY: LEVEL FIVE POINT ONE EIGHT. MARGINAL USE.”

DALEK HUNTER
“MARGINAL USE: UNSATISFACTORY. THIS HUMAN IS OF NO VALUE TO US!”

BOCO
“What do you mean I’m of no value? How dare you say that…?”

DALEK HUNTER
“EXTERMINATE THE HUMAN MALE! EXTERMINATE!”

HILDA
(protests) “Don’t you kill my husband?!”

NYSSA
(pleads) “Let him live please. Please don’t kill him!”

BILLY
(pleads) “Boco’s our friend. Show some pity!”

DALEK HUNTER
“WE DO NOT UNDER-STAND THE WORD: PITY!”

Hilda steps in front of Boco before the Daleks.

HILDA
(cries) “I won’t let you do it! Do you hear me! I WON’T!”

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
“MOVE OUT OF THE WAY! MOVE OUT OF DALEK FIRING RANGE AT ONCE!”

HILDA
(cries) “NO! You will not kill my husband!”

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
(threateningly) “MOVE OR I WILL EXTERMINATE YOU ALSO!”

Boco then gently moves Hilda aside from him.

BOCO
“It’s alright, Hilda. I’ll be alright.”

HILDA
“But…but they’ll kill you!”

BOCO
“Look after the kids for me, will you?”

HILDA
(sobs) “I will.”

BOCO
“And err…if you see Sandy again…tell him I miss him.”

Hilda sobs, as she nods her head.

BOCO
(to Billy) “Hey, Billy! It was great to meet you. Glad you were able to save your friend.”

Moment of silence, as Boco turns to the Daleks.

BOCO
(bitterly) “Well, boys! Give it your best shot!”

BILLY
(shouts) “No!” (to Daleks) “Daleks! Kill me instead!”

NYSSA
(cries) “No, Billy!”

BILLY
“Nyssa, I can’t let them kill Boco.” (to Daleks) “Daleks please! Spare this man’s life…”

DALEK HUNTER
(interrupts) “DALEKS DO NOT SPARE LIVES! NO MORE NEGOTIATION. EXTERMINATE HIM!”

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
“EXTERMINATE!”

The Patrol Dalek Unit raises its gun and fires at Boco. Boco writhes in pain, screaming out loud in agony as he gets electrocuted. He falls to the floor, dead. Hilda then kneels beside Boco on the floor, as she cries away and mourns his death.

HILDA
(sobs) “My Boco. My poor precious Boco. Dead?”

Hilda sobs away, before another Patrol Dalek Unit #1 glides to her and prod her with its sucker stick.

PATROL DALEK UNIT #2
FEMALE PRISONER WILL STAND! YOU WILL CEASE MOURNING FOR THE DEAD HUMAN! STAND! STAND!

Hilda reluctantly stands up as she sobs away, mourning for Boco’s death.

DALEK HUNTER
CONTINUE INTELLIGENCE SCAN.

Patrol Dalek Unit #1 obeys, as it advances towards Nyssa.

NYSSA
(angrily) Did you really have to kill him? He’s a father and has greater skill than your…

DALEK HUNTER
(angrily; interrupts)) SILENCE! CONTINUE ASSESSMENT!

Patrol Dalek Unit #1 raises its sucker stick at Nyssa.

PATROL DALEK UNIT# 1
INTELLIGENCE SCAN: INITIATE!

Patrol Dalek Unit #1 uses its sucker stick to scans Nyssa’s brain waves. Just then, there’s a frizzy sound as a brainstorm of wave patterns comes from the Dalek’s scan of Nyssa.

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
“RANDOM BRAIN WAVE PATTERNS RECEIVED. SPECIES: UNKNOWN.” (to Nyssa) “YOU ARE NOT HUMAN.”

NYSSA
“No. I’m Trakenite. But I’ve moral principles similar to humans. And not callous and inhuman as you.”

DALEK HUNTER
“REPORT INTELLIGENCE CAPACITY.”

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
“INTELLIGENCE CAPACITY: HIGH. LEVEL NINE POINT EIGHT NINE. SATISFACTORY.”

NYSSA
“That’s it? I’m level nine point eight nine?”

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
“THIS FEMALE HAS GREATER INTELLIGENCE. SHE WILL BE OF GREAT VALUE TO US.”

DALEK HUNTER
“EXCELLENT! ASSESS LAST PRISONER.”

Patrol Dalek Unit #1 turns from Nyssa to attend to Billy.

NYSSA
“No! Leave him alone!”

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
“DALEKS DO NOT MAKE EXCEPTIONS! THE BOY WILL BE SCANNED FOR INTELLIGENCE.”

NYSSA
“Please, let him go.”

BILLY
“It’s alright, Nyssa. I’ll be fine.”

NYSSA
“But Billy…”

But before Nyssa can say anything else, Patrol Dalek Unit #1 extends its sucker stick to Billy. Billy shudders as the Dalek begins to scan him.

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
“INTELLIGENCE SCAN: INITIATE.”

The Dalek scans Billy, as Nyssa looks on anticipated and concern. The Dalek finishes scanning Billy as it lowers it sucker stick.

BILLY
(grimly) “What have you decided?”

PATROL DALEK UNIT #1
“SPECIES: HUMAN. INTELLIGENCE CAPACITY: LEVEL SEVEN POINT SEVEN EIGHT.” (Pause) “SATISFACTORY. YOU WILL BE SPARED!”

BILLY
(sighs; relieved) “Thank goodness for that.”

NYSSA
(relieved) “I’m so glad. I thought they were going to kill you.”

BILLY
“Hey?”

DALEK HUNTER
“PRISONERS WILL REMAIN SILENT. YOU WILL ENTER THE PRISONER CELL ON THE RIGHT. THERE YOU WILL WAIT UNTIL THE DALEKS REQUIRE YOUR VALUE.”

The cell doors slide open electronically. Two Daleks to supervise the entry of the three prisoners into their cell.

DALEK HUNTER
(insistently) “MOVE! MOVE!”

Reluctantly, Nyssa, Billy and Hilda enter the prison cell.

SCENE #153 – INT – PRISON CELL, DALEK PATROL SHIP – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
As soon as they’re inside, the prison cell doors close shut. Nyssa; Billy and Hilda are locked inside. Billy goes to the cell door to examine it and see if there’s a chance of escape. Moment of silence.

BILLY
“No nooks and cronies alongside the door.”

Suddenly Billy receives an electronic shock from the door. He cries, startled.

BILLY
“It’s electrified. These Daleks don’t miss a trick, do they?”

NYSSA
“It’s their way of making sure we don’t try anything stupid.”

Hilda sobs away, as she mourns Boco’s death.

HILDA
(sobs) “Boco. My dear Boco. I just can’t believe he’s gone. The Daleks killed him remorselessly.”

Nyssa goes over to comfort Hilda.

NYSSA
“I’m so sorry, Hilda. I’m really, really sorry!”

HILDA
(sobs) “What will become of the children here with their daddy gone? What will become of me?”

Hilda sobs away on Nyssa’s shoulder. Nyssa cradles Hilda in her arms as she sympathises for her.

BILLY
“I’ve had enough of these Daleks! It’s time we made a stand! Whatever they want us to do, we won’t do it!”

NYSSA
“There’s no way we’re able to evade their tactics so easily, Billy. The Daleks will just force us to do their work otherwise we’ll be killed instantly!”

BILLY
“But we can’t just sit here doing nothing, Nyssa. We’ve got to escape and do something!”

NYSSA
“Wrong, Billy. That’s exactly what we mustn’t do. We must stay here in this cell.”

BILLY
“What do you mean?”

NYSSA
“I mean we must stay here until the Daleks turn up again. I intend to give them the element of surprise.”

BILLY
“You’ve got a plan?”

NYSSA
“If you’re willing to try it.”

BILLY
“I’m willing for anything, Nyssa. If it means getting back to the Doctor.”

Hilda sobs again. Nyssa then holds Hilda up to looks at her in the eyes.

NYSSA
(reassuringly) “Hilda? Hilda, listen to me! We’re going to get out of here. But I need you to do what I say.”

HILDA
(pessimistically) “What chance is there of us escaping? We’re going to die anyway!”

Billy approaches Hilda and kneels beside her.

BILLY
(reassuringly) “Hilda, listen to me. We’ve got a friend who can help us, and if I know him he’ll come after me and Nyssa. That means we’ve got a chance with a means of rescue.”

HILDA
(pessimistically) “Well that’s fine for you and Nyssa, but for me…”

NYSSA
“You have a chance to escape too, Hilda! And your children. Don’t you want to save your children too?”

Moment of silence, as Hilda contemplates whether to trust Nyssa and Billy.

BILLY
(gently) “Trust us, Hilda! Trust us! Hey?”

Another moment of silence. Hilda nods her head, sobbing.

BILLY
(pleased) “There! That’s more like it!” (to Nyssa) “Right, Nyssa. What do we do?”

NYSSA
“Well listen carefully and pay attention to what I say.” (Pause) “Now…”

SCENE #154 – INT – MAIN BRIDGE, MOONRAKER – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
On the bridge of the Moonraker, crew members work at various stations as Captain Sulley commands the ship. The Doctor stands beside him whilst Elaine pilots at the helm.

CAPTAIN
(to Elaine) “Commander Thomas? How far are we to Yondamus Four?”

ELAINE
“Estimated time of arrival: three hours, captain.”

CAPTAIN
“Good.”

The Captain swivels in his chair to address the Male Lieutenant.

CAPTAIN
“How are we on weapons, lieutenant?”

MALE LIEUTENANT
“Missile banks and phaser banks armed and ready, sir.”

CAPTAIN
“What is the status of the Dalek army?”

ELAINE
“They’re three hundred kilometres away from us at the moment. But they’re certainly catching up.”

DOCTOR
(to Captain) “What do you expect when we get to Yondamus Four, Captain? The Dwaxi can obliterate you as well as obliterating the Daleks. You don’t stand a chance against them.”

CAPTAIN
“Trust me, Doctor. I know what I’m doing!”

The Female Lieutenant then enters the bridge as she comes out of the turbo-lift, with the doors sliding open and close behind her.

FEMALE LIEUTENANT
“Commander Wilson is locked away in the brig, sir. Just thought you’d like to know.”

CAPTAIN
“Is there a guard watching him?”

FEMALE LIEUTENANT
“Yes, sir. He’s kept under close watch at this precise moment by one of the security officers…”

DOCTOR
(interrupts) “Pardon me for interrupting, Captain. A moment of your time. But about Mr. Wilson’s Dalek conditioning…”

The Captain rises up from his chair to face the Doctor.

CAPTAIN
(interrupts) “Tell me, Doctor. You were working on something for the Daleks. Would you care to tell us what it was?”

DOCTOR
(impatiently) “The Yentias drug. Now if we can go back to…”

CAPTAIN
“What is this Yentias drug?”

DOCTOR
“Why are you so interested to know, Captain?”

ELAINE
It’s the drug that the Dwaxi use to go bonkers and start a fight, Kevin.

CAPTAIN
Thank you, Elaine. (to Doctor) The Daleks want to use this drug for themselves do they, Doctor?

DOCTOR
The Daleks want an antigen for this drug in order to weaken the Dwaxi’s power over them. To make them weaker.

CAPTAIN
Interesting.

DOCTOR
Captain, if you have to stop the Dwaxi and the Daleks causing chaos we must stop this rift from tearing space apart.

CAPTAIN
I quite agree. But first we make for Yondamus Four to sort the Dwaxi out. And you’re going to help us.

DOCTOR
“I can’t!”

CAPTAIN
“You will produce the antigen for the Yentias drug, but this time to save humanity. We’ll see to it that Daleks and Dwaxi are blotted out of existence.”

DOCTOR
“I can’t help you, Captain! Honestly, I can’t!”

Just as the Doctor says this, the Captain takes out and raises a phaser pistol to the Doctor’s head. He has it on full charge.

CAPTAIN
“You will help us, Doctor. You got us in this mess. Now you get us out of it!”

ELAINE
“Kevin, what are you doing?”

CAPTAIN
“You stay out of this, Elaine!”

DOCTOR
“Believe me Captain; if there were any way I could help I would But not now. Not at this fixed point in time.”

CAPTAIN
“I don’t care about your fixed points in time, Doctor. All I care about is the welfare of my ship; my crew and my planet. And if you’re so chicken as much to help us beat these cursed Dwaxi and Dalek monsters then I’ll…”

Suddenly a warning signal goes off from the security control panel. The Female Lieutenant goes to check on what it is.

FEMALE LIEUTENANT
“Captain? There are some random emissions emanating from the rift we found. It’s expanding.”

ELAINE
“Expanding to where?”

FEMALE LIEUTENANT
“Just checking.” (Pause) “The rift signature is expanding across space in conjunction with the orbital path of Yondamus Four.”

DOCTOR
(to himself; thinks) “Yondamus Four? How interesting! The causal events are starting to take place as predicted.”

CAPTAIN
(agitated) “What are you gabbling about now, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
(thinks; to himself) “With the rift in our sights next door to Yondamus Four in its orbital path, that might just give me the chance to rescue…” (Pause; to Captain) “Alright, Captain.”

CAPTAIN
“Alright what, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“I’ll help you to find an antigen to the Yentias drug. On one…no two conditions.”

CAPTAIN
“What’s that?”

DOCTOR
“First, we go to the rift afterwards.”

CAPTAIN
“And?”

DOCTOR
“Secondly…I’d like Elaine Thomas to help me, please.”

SCENE #155 – EXT – YONDAMUS SPACE – 26TH CENTURY – N/A
Meanwhile, mighty Dwaxi space vessels zoom across space as they pass around the orbital path of Yondamus IV. The space-time rift crack widens as it opens across the fabric of reality. It draws closer to the orbital path of Yondamus IV.

SCENE #156 – INT – MICROS WAREHOUSE #5 – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
In the Micros Warehouse as the Dwaxi’s headquarters on Yondamus IV, reports flood in of the Dwaxi armada’s entry into Yondamus space from the space-time rift.

BLOCKADE
(roars; laughs; over-excited) “OUR BOYS ARE ON THEIR WAY! THEY’RE MARKING OUT ALL THE STRATEGIC POINTS BETWEEN US AND THE DALEKS!”

TARGAH
“Excellent! Excellent! Our brothers shall be victorious in blotting out those punks. People won’t have to worry about the Daleks anymore. They’ll worry about us!”

Targah cackles out loud menacingly.

GABROG
“Blockade? Have they arrived in their strategic attack positions along the perimeter of Yondamus Four?”

BLOCKADE
“YES! YES! THEY HAVE! THEY HAVE!!!!!!!”

TARGAH
“We shall get to beat up some puny opposition yet, Gabrog! As well as the Daleks, we shall be invincible against the rest of this pitiful universe.”

Just then, an alarm goes off very loudly. This causes the Dwaxi to moan and swear.

BLOCKADE
(shouts) I DON’T BELIEVE IT! I DON’T BELIEVE IT!!!

GABROG
What is it, Blockade?

BLOCKADE
THE EARTH SHIP MOONRAKER IS COMING!

TARGAH
What?! I thought we’d dealt with that dump of garbage!

BLOCKADE
APPARENTLY NOT!

TARGAH
See that those jerks don’t get past the fleet! And don’t do anything stupid you may regret!

BLOCKADE
(angrily) WHAT DID YOU SAY?!

GABROG
“Commander?!”

TARGAH
(bitterly) “What do you want now, Gabrog?”

GABROG
“Dwaxi troopers are being sent now to attack the Daleks that are on Yondamus Four already. They’ll sort them out!”

TARGAH
(coldly) “Brilliant!”

GABROG
“Our boys will also find the girl that escaped our Dwaxi camp earlier. She’ll be with three other humans as well!”

TARGAH
“The girl? Did you say ‘the girl’?”

GABROG
“Yes, Commander.”

Moment of silence.

TARGAH
(chuckles; sinisterly) “Send in the new troops! They’ll give them a surprise!”

SCENE #157 – INT – PRISON CELL, DALEK PATROL SHIP – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
Back in the prison cell aboard the Dalek patrol ship on Yondamus IV, the cell doors slide open as a Dalek enters. It registers Billy; Nyssa and Hilda who sit in the prison cell and see the Dalek come in. Hilda sobs away.

DALEK PATROL UNIT #2
“PRISONERS WILL STAND!”

Nyssa and Billy reluctantly stand up. Hilda however remains seated as she sobs away. The Dalek enters further into the cell, as it prods at Hilda with its sucker stick.

DALEK PATROL UNIT #2
“YOU WILL STAND!”

HILDA
(sobs) No!

DALEK PATROL UNIT #2
YOU WILL STAND!

HILDA
(cries) No! Leave me alone!

DALEK PATROL UNIT #2
ON YOUR FEET! IMMEDIATELY! OBEY DALEK COMMANDS!

Billy then takes off his right shoe and approaches the Dalek.

BILLY
Err…Dalek?

DALEK PATROL UNIT #2
YES?

As the Dalek turns its eyestalk, Billy immediately grabs hold of it and stuffs his shoe over it. The Dalek moves from side to side frantically in the prison cell and in a panic.

DALEK PATROL UNIT #2
(panics) “HELP! HELP! HELP ME! VISION IMPAIRED! I CANNOT SEE! VISION IMPAIRED! VISION IMPAIRED! I CANNOT SEE! I CANNOT SEE!”

Billy tries to hold onto the Dalek and stop it from crashing into Hilda as she screams.

NYSSA
(cries) “Hilda! Hilda, quick!”

HILDA
“Right! I’m coming!”

Hilda gets past the Dalek and joins Nyssa.

DALEK PATROL UNIT #2
(panics) “ALERT! ALERT! PRISONERS TRYING TO ESCAPE! HELP ME! HELP ME!”

NYSSA
(calls) “Billy, get over here!”

BILLY
“I’m trying, Nyssa! But the Dalek’s pushing me aside!”

The Dalek glides from side to side frantically as it blocks Billy’s chance to get out.

DALEK PATROL UNIT #2
(panics; shrieks) “CANNOT SEE THEM! CANNOT SEE THEM! HELP! CANNOT SEE THEM! HELP! HELP ME! HELP ME! YOU MUST NOT GET AWAY!”

Billy panics as he gets trapped on the wall by the Dalek.

NYSSA
“Hang on, Billy! Hang on”

BILLY
“Be careful, Nyssa!”

Nyssa runs to help Billy, as she comes behind the Dalek and grabs it with her hands.

DALEK PATROL UNIT #2
(panics; shrieks) “HELP ME! HELP ME! HELP ME!”

Nyssa eventually pulls the Dalek away from Billy and pushes it forward into the cell. The Dalek bangs into the wall once it’s been pushed.

NYSSA
“Now, Billy! Now!”

BILLY
“Right.”

Billy runs to join Nyssa as they and Hilda get out of the cell. The Dalek shrieks and panics as it is unable to see with Billy’s right shoe on its eyestalk.

DALEK PATROL UNIT #2
(shrieks; panics) “WARNING! WARNING! LOSS OF CONTROL! LOSS OF CONTROL! LOSS OF CONTROL!!!”

SCENE #158 – INT – CORRIDOR, DALEK PATROL SHIP – 26TH CENTURY – NIGHT
Outside in the corridor, Nyssa; Billy and Hilda get out of the prison cell. The cell doors lock with the panicky Dalek. Nyssa; Billy and Hilda press a button to lock the cell-doors. There is a reassuring click. Nyssa; Billy and Hilda sigh with relief.

BILLY
“Thank goodness for that!”

NYSSA
(concerned) “Are you alright, Billy? The Dalek didn’t hurt you?”

BILLY
(reassuringly) “No Nyssa, thanks. It was just a few little bumps.”

HILDA
(thrilled) “Ooh that was exciting, wasn’t it?”

NYSSA
“Come on! Let’s find our way out of here!”

Nyssa; Billy and Hilda make their way out of the Dalek Patrol Ship as they run down the corridor.

    Hi Tim

Read chapter 13 – goodness, it’s getting very exciting now!

So, the Daleks have sent Yondamus Prime on course to converge with Yondamus Four, Colin is now working for the Daleks, and the Doctor is being forced to counteract the Dwaxi drug regime, while Billy, Nyssa and the others are all captive of, or converted into Dwaxi. It’s all very complicated and seems doomed, doesnt it?

I notice in scene 145 you’ve got the Dalek ship as being attacked by the Moonraker with “full-ton” missiles – do you mean photon missiles?

Ah, that’s interesting, the Doctor has realised that the Daleks are vulnerable to the Yentias drug, as much as the Dwaxi need it. That’s very interesting!

And the Moonraker is under control by the Earth forces again!

I like the Doctor’s reaction when he’s teleported out!

Oh dear, the Dalek Supreme didn’t win that struggle for power, did he?

Oh no! No!!!! Not Boco!!!!! Oh no, I didn’t want that to happen!

I chuckled when Nyssa says she was relieved that Billy passed the intelligence test, haha!

I can see why Sulley thinks he has to get the Doctor to help them defeat both the Dwaxi and the Daleks; the Doctor has a dilemma there, doesn’t he, but he obviously sees an opportunity as they near the rift.

And I’m glad the others are trying to escape.

Looking forward to the next chapter!

    Hi Leigh.

Glad you enjoyed reading Chapter 13. Glad you’re finding it’s getting exciting now.

    CHAPTER 12
I didn’t relate the Dwaxi to the Klingons when I was writing them in the story. They were more like the Jem’Hadar of the Dominion from ‘Deep Space Nine’. There are similarities such as the drugs they use and the ultra-violent behaviour they have. The difference is that the Dwaxi are more human-like compared to the rhino-look the Jem’Hadar had. Interesting that you that in your mind when reading the Dwaxi were Klingon-like. I suppose that’s fair since they’re mindlessly violent and don’t seem to have any moral values on first impressions. I like this idea of an ultra-violent race with no seemingly moral values on first impressions, until they get discovered later on as to the reason for their violent behaviour. I hope more will be revealed about the Dwaxi’s true motivations later on for the rest of the story if not in another story where the Dwaxi make another appearance in ‘Doctor Who’.

Another source of inspiration for the Dwaxi came from other ‘Doctor Who’ villains including the Dominators from ‘The Dominators’ and the Bannerman from ‘Delta and the Bannermen’. Although these sets of villains didn’t work so well on TV, I thought it was interesting and wondered why these two sets of villains have aggressive tendencies and wanted to know why they’re being so cruel to the people they dealt with in the stories they were in. Of course, that never happened since they seemed one-dimensional to allow that to happen. But with the Dwaxi, I wanted to add that element in their characters as well as having elements such as the Yentias drugs and the Directors to make them interesting and not so two-dimensional as they would seem to be on first impressions to the Doctor; Nyssa; Billy and the others aboard the Moonraker.

I’m pleased you approve of how I’ve written the Emperor Dalek and that you can hear the Daleks’ voices when you’re reading my story. 🙂

Interesting how you remark that the Dwaxi wouldn’t like water very much. Maybe that’s the key to who they are and what their weakness is. Find out later on in the story. It gets revealed. I promise. 😀

I’m pleased you like how I’ve written characters that are representatives of the entire Moonraker crew. It is something commonly done in the ‘Star Trek’ shows, but it helps to identify who’s who and not be confused by having too many characters. I should create my own spin-off series ‘Moonraker’ and have more voyages of the starship Moonraker with Captain Sulley. ‘To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldy go…’ well, you get the idea. 😀

Yes the Doctor does get agitated and anxious when he loses his TARDIS. It happened like that in TV episodes such as ‘The Impossible Planet’/’The Satan Pit’ with David Tennant. I haven’t heard ‘The Burning Prince’ in a long time. That’s a good story. I must get around to re-listening to it someday.

Now you’ve read Chapter 13, how will the Doctor get back to his TARDIS when he was teleported out by the Moonraker rather rudely. It’s still with the Daleks on Yondamus Prime, isn’t it?!

I didn’t really know where Colin’s story was going to go when I was writing his character. He obviously wasn’t nice to Elaine at times as well as the Doctor; Nyssa and Billy. He seemed to have opinions of self-righteousness didn’t it? It was a classic moment when one of the characters does something totally unexpected that you didn’t see it coming in the story. It happened in ‘Plague of the Daleks’ when Issac and Lysette Barclay turned out to be Dalek Agents instead of heritage centre guides in Stockbridge. I wanted to do something similar with one of the characters in this Dalek story by me and it turned out to be Colin, I’m afraid.

Ooh! How shocking you admitting you didn’t like Colin very much. 😀 Yes, he is a very mixed up person at the moment.

I like your comments about how the scene was handled well between Nyssa and Billy about Traken and how they handled reacting to each other. That’s very reassuring for me. I’m glad you found it a nice poignant moment between them. How will this develop further between them by the end of the story, do you think?

I like your thoughts that Boco and Hilda deserve a happy life together with Sandy and the children. I can just imagine that now happening. I wished that was the case, as you’ve read Chapter 13 already.

Interesting thoughts of yours that the Dwaxi ships sent through the rift into our space reminded you of early black-and-white sci-fi films. Any specific films you had in mind by any chance? Some of it was inspired by the wormwhole in ‘Deep Space Nine’ when invasion fleets of Jem’Hadar ships swarm through. I’m afraid not everything about the Dwaxi gets answered here in this story. I did write a second Dwaxi story where the Daleks aren’t in it and the Dwaxi are given a chance to develop as villains. News of this story’s release on my blog will be revealed at a later time, I assure you.

I like your comment that the Dwaxi’s ‘Death is Victory’ put you in mind of the Klingon’s ‘It is a good day to die’. That didn’t occur to me when I wrote it. The chant was something similar to the Jem’Hadar’s ‘Victory is Life’ chant. But it is a good combination isn’t it, as the Dwaxi sounds both Klingon-Jem’Hadar in ‘Who’ terms.

Hmm, yes. The Dwaxi rift does raise a lot of questions. How does it link between the Dwaxi world to our universe. It does scare the Doctor doesn’t it, and for good reason I think. Maybe not in this story, but perhaps in another story where the Dwaxi return will these questions be answered. 😀

    CHAPTER 13
Yes things do seem to get complicated at the moment with so much going on in the story. Of course, it’s all building up to its climax in the final episode of the story. I hope all gets resolved satisfactorily for you Leigh, as you read the end of this story.

The Dalek’s idea of using Yondamus Prime as a spaceship isn’t going well at the moment is it? I mean what with the volcanic eruptions; earthquakes; tidal waves and everything. And yet the Daleks don’t seem to retaliate or abort their mission, do they?

How do you think the convergence of Yondamus Prime and Yondamus IV will take place then? It won’t be pleasant, will it?

Do you think Colin’s working with the Daleks end pleasantly? Will he survive do you think? Perhaps not.

I wonder if the Doctor will counteract the Dwaxi drug with an antigen for the Daleks. Will he find the answer though, do you think?

Yes Nyssa; Billy; Boco and Hilda are captives of the Daleks whilst Nina and Jack are converts of the Dwaxi. Will any of them survive before Yondamus Prime collides with Yondamus IV? Will they escape being killed by Daleks and Dwaxi.

I like how you think how ‘doomed’ everything seems so far. It seems to fit with the title of this story doesn’t it? 😀

Thanks Leigh for pointing out about the missiles. I’ve changed things and had the Moonraker fire photon missiles and the Dwaxi fire torpedoes from their ships.

Yes it is interesting that the Daleks are vulnerable to the Dwaxi drug. I wonder why they’re so afraid of it? Will the Doctor and his friends find out, do you think? Do you think the Yentias drug might kill the Daleks in some way? The Dalek did get panicky when they demanded the Doctor not to drop the drug. That was inspired from reading ‘Stormbreaker’ from the ‘Alex Rider’ spy-thriller novel series as well as the film where a drug/virus is involved.

Yes. Thank goodness Captain Sulley’s got his ship back with Elaine and the Doctor aboard. They’ve locked up Colin in the brig, thankfully. Will it keep Colin out of the way though? Will Sulley; Elaine and the Doctor be able to find a way to defeat the Daleks whilst aboard the Moonraker?

It’s a shame the Doctor didn’t find out why the Daleks were vulnerable to the Yentias when he got rudely interrupted by being teleported out by the Moonraker. I’m glad you liked the Doctor’s reaction to being teleported out. It seems a very Doctorish thing for him to do by being annoyed of being teleported out yet he doesn’t want to go back to the Daleks. I liked it when the Doctor said, “Go back? Go back?! Do you think I’m mad?!” 😀 That was inspired by Kirk and McCoy being beamed out in ‘Star Trek VI’ by Spock on the Enterprise, in case you didn’t know.

Yes, poor Supreme Dalek! You couldn’t help feel a little sorry for it when it failed in its mission and the Emperor Dalek had him destroyed. It got quickly replaced by the Agent Dalek who is now Supreme Dalek Mark II, didn’t it?

Oh dear! I must have upset you with what happened to Boco! That was a cruel thing to do, but it shows how cruel the Daleks are when they consider those least important and insignificant to their requirements. It was very heart-breaking and grueling for Hilda; Nyssa and Billy to witness, wasn’t it?

I’m glad I made you chuckle when Nyssa was relieved that Billy passed the intelligence test. It did seem like there wasn’t going to be a chance for Billy was there? I liked how Billy reacted to Nyssa’s relief, thinking that she didn’t have much confidence in him passing the test. 😀

That intelligence test by the Daleks was inspired by the intelligence scan scene from the TV episode ‘Daleks in Manhattan’ and from the Tenth Doctor novel ‘Prisoner of the Daleks’, in case you didn’t know.

I’m glad you liked the scene where Sulley is determined to keep the Doctor on to help them find the antigen to the Dwaxi drug and how he threatens him with a phaser pistol. The Doctor is in a dilemma isn’t he? What is this fixed point in time he’s speaking of. He’s clearly about things when he’s gradually coming to decision about finding the antigen to the Dwaxi drug. Yes he does see the opportunity as they get closer to the rift. He seems determined and willing to help develop the antigen Captain Sulley and the others aboard the Moonraker, even though he refused at first, didn’t he?

I’m glad you like the scene where Nyssa; Billy and Hilda try to find a way to escape the Daleks. That was inspired from watching the escape scene of the Doctor; Susan; Ian and Barbara from the Daleks in the TV version of ‘The Daleks’ and in the movie ‘Dr. Who and the Daleks’ with Peter Cushing.

Many thanks, Leigh. Hope you enjoy Chapter 14 next. Your comments on my stories have been very reassuring and enjoyable to read. I’m glad you like my ‘Doctor Who’ stories so far.

    Tim. 🙂

    Hi Tim

Oh yes, I can see the thoughts behind the Dwaxi coming from the Jem’Hadar. I always thought they were great creations for the Star Trek universe. I guess that the aggressive nature of the Jem’Hadar, and the Klingons, is drawn from similar cultural backgrounds, isn’t it, in many ways, so it’s not surprising that the Dwaxi seem to have some similarities in their nature, given their aggression as well. All good bases for that sort of ‘monster’, if you like, who is so alien to what the Doctor believes in.

I think the Klingons, when they were explored in the later Star Trek stories, did have great historical and cultural values, but when they were first introduced, of course, they were rather mindlessly violent. I think that’s why the idea of the Klingons seems to resonate for me with the Dwaxi.

Ah yes, the Dominators, and the Bannermen – they also show initially as mindlessly violent and cruel, don’t they, with no moral values. Goes to show that we don’t really know what lies behind their cultural values or backgrounds, either, do we, certainly when the Doctor first meets up with them.

Ha, you’re teasing me with promises of more revelations again, Tim!

I think that’s very true, and I’ve never really thought of it before. But you’re quite right, to write characters like that who are representative of the broader population, is definitely the way to go, especially when writing it in a screenplay type of format. Otherwise, you’d never be able to keep up with who was doing what where and why! A spin-off series of Moonraker would be great! Perhaps they could go through the rift into the Dwaxi universe …

The Doctor certainly does get agitated when he loses the Tardis! Can’t say I blame him, either. It would be very worrying. I love the Burning Prince trilogy, I think it’s some of the strongest BF stories, and certainly one of the best trilogies. I have listened to them all several times, and its one of those trilogies I would happily listen to again any time.

Oh yes, the Tardis is still on Yondamus Prime, isn’t it? How will the Doctor get it back!?

Yes, I didn’t see where Colin’s character was going to go, at all. I thought he was a rather nasty chap, but I didn’t see him working for the Daleks. Oh yes, that was a shock in Plague of the Daleks when such nice people turned out to be working for the Daleks. Poor Colin, sacrificed for the story! No, I’m sorry I didn’t like Colin very much! He seemed a very small-minded and petty type of person, and with nothing nice to say about anyone.

I did think that the scene with Nyssa and Billy talking about Traken was very well done. I think having someone she could share some of her thoughts about Traken and her family, without Billy having been there near the time of the tragedy, or having seen Traken, could be therapeutic for Nyssa.

I did think Boco and Hilda deserved a happy ending; it’s such a shame that wasn’t to happen.

Hmmm, I’m not sure which particular films I was thinking about, really, it’s been a while since I watched any of the old sci-fi movies. That sort of mass of flying saucer attack, that seemed to often happen in the old black and white movies. I had this vision of a great black sky, and the rift opening, and thousands of ships spilling through it, black and white contrasting against this sight which was so unlikely, and so appalling. You’re quite right, it is also reminiscent of those scenes in Deep Space Nine when ships swam through the wormhole, isn’t it? I guess those type of scenes emanate from the same type of earlier ideas, of the sheer size and scale and scope of invasions through places where invasions shouldn’t be taking place.

That’s okay that not everything about the Dwaxi gets answered in this story; I don’t think that it should, really, for the reasons we’ve already discussed. A whole society can’t be introduced, and explained in the course of one story. If they’re well-developed, there’s loads more to be discovered about them. I shall look forward to another story with the Dwaxi in!

That’s really funny, that I’m thinking of the Klingons, and you’re thinking of the Jem’Hadar in relation to the Dwaxi. They really, when you think about it, are coming from the same place, aren’t they.

I think the Doctor is very worried about the rift – is it temporal, or is it dimensional? Either could be catastrophic, as the Doctor well knows, doesn’t he?

I’m sure I will like reading the last few chapters of the story, Tim, it’s all been great so far.

No, I’m not sure why the Daleks keep doing things like trying to move planets, it never seems to quite go right, does it? I suppose they want to overawe their enemies, with their technology, and their sheer might. If all else has failed against the Dwaxi, then what have they to lose? Nothing at all!

I think when the two planets find themselves meeting, it will be very messy!

I’m not sure that Colin’s working with the Daleks will end well at all, not for him, anyway. It never seems to, for Dalek agents.

The Doctor will be morally torn now – if he finds the antigen for the Daleks, is he indirectly helping them? But what choice does he have? Knowing the Doctor, I’m sure he has a plan, or will think of one!

Doomed does seem to sum it up a bit, doesn’t it? Hopefully not for everybody!

That’s all right, Tim, I felt sure photon missiles was what you intended.

Bad luck for the Daleks that they’re vulnerable to the Dwaxi drug that gives the Dwaxi their strength. Maybe … thinking out loud here … the Directors knew that, and created the Dwaxi directly to play to that weakness of the Daleks!? That’s a thought.

The bit when the Doctor said that made me laugh. It was so very like him! And to be so annoyed when he was teleported out.

The Supreme Dalek did come to a sticky end, didn’t he. I wonder if the Emperor Dalek knew he had schemes above his station.

Yes, poor Boco, I was shocked when they killed him! It was a very hard thing, but so typical of the Daleks.

I laughed when Billy reacted to Nyssa’s reaction to his surviving the Daleks’ intelligence test. Made it sound as though Nyssa was concerned he wasn’t going to be intelligent enough, and Billy thought “What!?”.

I think the Doctor is working out that there is a fixed point in time when something has changed, and if he can change it back by creating this antigen perhaps it will nullify the gains both of the Daleks and the Dwaxi, and put the Dwaxi back where and when they should be. Tricky, though!

I’m glad you like my comments, Tim. I really am enjoying your stories, and am finding it nice to pace out the reading, so I can think about it as I go and enjoy the cliffhangers, which are such a fun part of Doctor Who, aren’t they?

    On to the next chapter!

You killed Boco…..how could you Tim I’m gutted as i liked him why can’t you kill Colin instead lol.

Cracking chapter this, i bet the daleks cringe at being promoted as it means there failure will lead to extermination lol.

Great escape with Billy, Nyssa & Hilda, for some reason Billy reminds me of Ian Chesterton in this story he has the same manner & i like that he cares & shows compassion to his allies.

The Doctor moaning about being teleported at the last minute had me laughing, a typical Doctor moment mate.

This is setting up to be a thrilling climax between the Daleks & Dwaxi, why are the Daleks afraid of the antigen the Doctor’s holding?, i had this wacky idea the Dwaxi are like the Movellans in there parallel universe don’t know why just something imagined.

I have no idea how this will all conclude but i can’t wait to find out, brilliant story.

P.S i reviewed The Game on my G+ page today.

I know! It was cruel of me to kill Boco, I know. But it adds to the tension and drama of someone you really like getting killed like that, especially in a Dalek story. I’m glad you liked the Boco character, as he is someone I wanted the audience to liken to and appreciate in the story.

I like your comment about the Daleks cringing every time they get promoted to a new rank before they eventually get exterminated by their superiors like the Emperor Dalek. I’m sure that is the case with every Dalek with what they’re thinking inside their metal casings.

I’m glad you enjoyed the escape scene with Billy, Nyssa and Hilda from the Dalek in their prison cell. That was inspired from seeing the first Dalek story both on TV with William Hartnell and in movie form with Peter Cushing.

I like your comments of Billy reminding you of Ian Chesterton. He could be a younger version of Ian, yes. Whether I’ll do a story where Billy meets Ian at all is yet to be seen. I’ve not done a story where Billy meets Ian. Perhaps I should. It could be very interesting. Ian had a good relationship with Nyssa in ‘The Five Companions’, didn’t she? 🙂

I’m glad I had you laughing with the Doctor moaning with being teleported out at the last minute. That was inspired from seeing Kirk and McCoy getting annoyed with being teleported out in ‘Star Trek VI’ apparently. I’m glad you found that good typical Doctor moment.

Well the Dwaxi are meant to be an equal for the Daleks in terms of aggression whereas the Movellans are equal to the Daleks in terms of battle computers. I wanted to see that in the Daleks when facing an opponent equal to them in terms of strength and aggression. I didn’t like how it was portrayed when the Daleks had an equal opponent in ‘Destiny of the Daleks’ with the Movellans. Interesting comment of yours that the Dwaxi are like Movellans in their parallel universe. It didn’t occur to me when I was writing them .But it is interesting. 😀

Thanks for letting me know about your review on ‘The Game’. I’ll check it out once I’ve looked through your other comments on ‘Part Four’ on this story. Tim. 🙂
