Day Trip Report – ‘Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.’ (August 2019)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I miss the ‘Doctor Who Experience’ in Cardiff Bay. I enjoyed going to the gift shop and seeing what was inside the exhibition full of adventure and displays of costumes and monsters. Thus, I suppose it gets all made up for when I attended the latest interactive exhibit in Cardiff – the ‘Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.’.

It was very exciting when my best mate Stephen and I visited the ‘Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.’ last Saturday. We didn’t know what to expect. The exhibit is currently held in the St. David’s Shopping Centre in Cardiff. I greatly enjoyed this new exhibit from the ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’.

Having enjoyed the ‘MCU’ movies recently on DVD and at the cinema, I was able to appreciate all that was there at the ‘Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.’ exhibit. This was a bit like the ‘Doctor Who Experience’, except with displays of costumes and weapons that were featured in many ‘MCU’ films.

When you go into the exhibit, you’re on a mission at the Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network (S.T.A.T.I.O.N.). You’re given a mission by Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, on what to do to learn all you need to know about the Avengers and become one.

I enjoyed looking around at all the items on display at the ‘S.T.A.T.I.O.N.’ exhibit. You get to see all that’s on dispaly including the Iron Man section; the Hulk section; Captain America’s section; Thor’s section; etc. My best mate Stephen and I were very amazed by what was inside this amazing exhibit.

I loved seeing all the Iron Man costumes on display that were featured in the ‘MCU’ movies. This includes the original suit from the first ‘Iron Man’ movie right up to the suits featured in the ‘Avengers’ movies like the Hulkbuster suit from ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’. I had photos with them. 🙂

In the Hulk section, I checked out the interactive displays containing information on how Bruce Banner became the Hulk and seeing what happens when Hulk does his ‘HULK SMASH’ moves. 😀 The Hulk hands featured in the section were huge. I tried to arm wrestle with one of the Hulk’s hands. 😀

I greatly enjoyed the Captain America section. I got to have a photo with one of the Captain America shields at the exhibit as well as get to rid on Cap’s motorbike held at the exhibit. It was great to see Captain America’s suit on display as well as the shield that was so amazing to see at the S.T.A.T.I.O.N.

Thor’s hammer was there at the exhibit and there was the challenge to try and lift it up from the ground like how the characters did it in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’. I tried my hardest to pull Thor’s hammer up from the ground but I wasn’t worthy. I think the hammer’s stuck to the ground though. 😀

It was great to see Thor’s costume at the exhibit as well as the Ant-Man suit; the Black Panther helmet; Hawkeye’s costume as well as his bow and arrow and Black Widow’s outfit. There was also the armour as worn by Falcon in the ‘MCU’ movies and the War Machine suit was on display there. 😀

I was disappointed that the exhibit didn’t have the Spider-Man outfits on display as that’s my favourite superhero. But then again, this is a brand-new exhibit in Cardiff. I guess they’ll put Spider-Man’s outfits up on display at a future date as they’ll do for others like the Guardians of the Galaxy.

There were also displays for the villains featured in the ‘MCU’ movies. This included Christopher Ecceleston’s character of Malekith from ‘Thor: The Dark World’ as well as suits and weapons of the Chitauri from ‘Avengers Assemble’ and Ultron and his robot minions from ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.

I was disappointed with the last interactive part of the exhibit where we had to be certain Avengers to fight off against Ultron at the end as that didn’t feel exciting or interactive enough for me, especially with a group of people. But I’m glad I had a really special photo of me taken at the exhibit.

‘Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.’ has been very enjoyable for me. I’m pleased I’ve visited this exhibit in Cardiff. It was pretty crowded there, especially with it being a new event. But it was very exciting to see the displays of costumes and items of Marvel’s best heroes including Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor and Captain America. If you’d like to check out and visit this Cardiff exhibit, here’s the website for it.

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
