8. Escape Route
SCENE #79 – INT – CORRIDOR, MOONRAKER – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
On Deck 8 of the Moonraker, a turbo-lift’s doors slide open as Billy runs out down a corridor to escape the Daleks. He eventually stops to catch his breath.
BILLY
(frustrated) “Billy, what do you think you’re doing? You should have stayed with the Doctor like he told you to.” (Pause) “Because I’m rescuing Nyssa. And I have to get to that planet in case of those Daleks or Dwaxi trying to kill her.” (Pause) “But how are you going to get down there, hey? How are you going to solve that problem?”
Billy walks on further down the corridor, as he tries to figure out how to solve the problem.
BILLY
(sighs) “Why was I so thick on leaving the Doctor to the Daleks?”
Moment of silence.
BILLY
“Maybe if…if I went to that place where they…beam people that might get me to….”
Billy then kicks himself.
BILLY
“No you can’t Billy. Because we don’t know how far away we are from the planet. This ship’s taken us a fair way from there, remember?”
Billy then sees something along the corridor.
BILLY
“Hang on. What’s this?”
Billy goes to the left side of the corridor and opens up a compartment attached to the wall. He pulls off a lid and looks to see what’s inside.
BILLY
“Guns?” (Pause) “Maybe one of these will protect me.” (Pause) “It’s better to be safe than sorry.”
Billy puts the compartment lid down on the floor; and takes out one of the phaser rifles. He holds it as he practices aiming the rifle properly. He does this a number of times, without firing the weapon.
BILLY
(uncertain; to phaser rifle) “Hmm. I only hope you’ll fire when I want you to.” (Pause) “What I really need is a space rocket or something.” (Pause) “I just hope Nyssa’s still alive when I find her.”
Just then, the turbo-lift doors open behind Billy. A few Daleks led by Patrol Dalek #2 trundle down the corridor to chase Billy.
PATROL DALEK #2
“HALT! HALT!”
BILLY
“Oh no! It’s them! Three of them!” (realises) “There’s a turbo-lift at the other end of the corridor. I must get to it fast!”
Billy runs off to make for for the turbo-lift at the other end of the corridor. Patrol Dalek #2 leads the Daleks to chase Billy.
PATROL DALEK #2
“THE BOY MUST BE CAPTURED! HE WILL NOT ESCAPE! STOP HIM! STOP HIM!”
The Daleks chase Billy, before he reaches the end of the corridor and enters the turbo-lift that is there. The doors slide open, as Billy goes inside. The Daleks gain on him.
PATROL DALEK #2
“HALT! HALT! COME OUT! COME OUT OF THE LIFT! AT ONCE!”
BILLY
(cries) “Take this!”
From inside the turbo-lift, Billy fires his phaser rifle at one of the Daleks. The Dalek blows up. The mutant creature writhes in agony before it dies and its blobby tentacles fall out of the casing.
PATROL DALEK #2
“YOU HAVE DESTROYED ONE OF OUR UNITS. YOU WILL BE PUNISHED!”
BILLY
(cries) “Catch me if you can, dustbin!”
PATROL DALEK #2
“FIRE! FIRE!”
The Daleks open fire with their ray guns, before the turbo-lift doors slide shut with Billy inside. The shots hit the turbo-lift doors, as Billy escapes. Once Billy’s gone, the Daleks gather.

“HE HAS ESCAPED AGAIN!”
SCENE #80 – INT – DALEK MOTHERSHIP – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
On the command deck of the Dalek Mothership, the Supreme Dalek monitors all functions performed by the Dalek technicians and scientists. Its eyestalk overlooks the command deck as it asserts its new authority. It then glides over to address on of the Dalek technicians.
SUPREME DALEK
(to Dalek Technician) “REPORT ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL TO EARTH SHIP MOON-RAKER?”
DALEK TECHNICIAN
“ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL: THREE QUARTER RELS.”
SUPREME DALEK
“HAVE THE APPOINTED SCIENCE TEAM STARTED WORK ON DEVELOPING NEW FORMULAS FOR VIRUS INFECTIONS TO YENITAS DRUG?”
DALEK TECHNICIAN
“THEY HAVE.”
SUPREME DALEK
“DALEK CONTROL WILL EXPECT REPORT OF FINDINGS IN THREE SOLAR RELS.”
DALEK TECHNICIAN
“UNDERSTOOD.”
A Dalek hailing frequency echoes from the mothership’s communications control station. The Dalek Technician, that the Supreme Dalek has been talking to, glides over to the control station to respond to the communication.
DALEK TECHNICIAN
“RECEIVING COMM-UNI-CATIONS FROM YONDAMUS PRIME.”
SUPREME DALEK
“PATCH IT THROUGH TO MY NETWORK.”
DALEK TECHNICIAN
“I OBEY.”
The Dalek Technician uses it sucker stick to patch the communication to the Supreme Dalek’s network.
DALEK TECHNICIAN
“DALEK TRANSMISSION SENT TO YOU NOW!”
SUPREME DALEK
“CONFIRMED.”
The Supreme Dalek glides over to the communication control station. It uses its sucker stick to answer the communication via its network.
SUPREME DALEK
(out loud) “THIS IS THE SUPREME DALEK. I HEAR AND OBEY.”
EMPEROR DALEK (V’O)
(booms) “THIS IS YOUR EMPEROR. REPORT ON OPERATION CAPTURE.”
SUPREME DALEK
“THE DOC-TOR IS UNDER OUR CONTROL, YOUR MAJESTY. APPROACHING DALEK PATROL SHIP WITH MOON-RAKER IN THREE RELS.”
EMPEROR DALEK (V’O)
(booms) “NOT SUFFICIENT. THE DOC-TOR MUST BE BROUGHT HERE IMMEDIATELY! THE DWAXI INFESTATION MUST BE ERADICATED!”
SUPREME DALEK
“UNDERSTOOD.”
EMPEROR DALEK (V’O)
(booms) “NEWS OF THE VIRUS TO YENITAS IS REQUIRED.”
SUPREME DALEK
“CURRENTLY OVERSEEING ALL OPERATIONS OF PRODUCTION OF VIRUS. FINDINGS OF RESULTS ARE STILL EXPECTED…”
EMPEROR DALEK (V’O)
(booms) “YOUR SUPERVISION OF THE OPERATIONS IS UNSATISFACTORY. I EXPECTED MORE.” (Pause) “REPORT AS SOON AS THE DOC-TOR IS READY TO BE TAKEN. HIS ASSISTANCE IN OUR PROBLEM WILL BE OF GREAT IMPORTANCE. HE WILL DEAL WITH THE DWAXI FOR US.”
SUPREME DALEK
“YES. THE DOC-TOR WILL BE TAKEN TO YONDAMUS PRIME.”
EMPEROR DALEK (V’O)
(booms) “EXCELLENT.” (Pause) “RAISING COMMUNICATIONS BARRIER.”
The Emperor Dalek ends transmission. The Supreme Dalek remains agitated as it disconnects itself from the communications control station.
SUPREME DALEK
“SOON…ONE DAY…THE EMPERORSHIP WILL BE MINE.”
Moment of silence. The Supreme Dalek then swivels round to address the Daleks on the command deck.
SUPREME DALEK
(to Daleks; barks) “DALEKS! YOU WILL CONTINUE YOUR WORK OR BE ANNIHILATED!”
DALEKS
“WE OBEY!”
The Daleks continue their work, as the Supreme Dalek proudly supervises everything.
SCENE #81 – INT – SHUTTLE BAY, MOONRAKER – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
Meanwhile, Billy enters the shuttle bay on Deck 7 as the doors slide open for him. Billy carries the phaser rifle he’s acquired with him, as he takes in his surroundings within the shuttle bay.
BILLY
(cautiously) “Hmm. Can’t see any Daleks.”
Billy eventually approaches one of the shuttles in the shuttle bay.
BILLY
“Yes, this is what I need. A shuttle?!” (Pause) “I’m sure the Captain won’t mind if I nick this thing to find Nyssa.”
Billy checks around the side of the shuttle.
BILLY
“Now…how does one get in?” (Pause) “Maybe this keypad might…”
Billy presses a few buttons on the control pad on the side of the shuttle, as he tries to open the door. An awful ‘negative’ noise bleeps in response.
BILLY
“No. Not that.”
Billy tries again, pressing a different set of buttons on the shuttle’s control pad to open the door. But ends up with the same result of another awful ‘negative’ noise bleeping away.
BILLY
(frustrated) “This could take forever.”
Billy thinks hard on how to open the shuttle door. He sighs annoyed, before leaning against the shuttle with his shoulder on the key pad. Just then welcoming bleep echoes from the shuttle’s control panel. The shuttle’s door then open as they lower down onto a ramp. Billy quickly steps back and chuckles with delight to see the shuttle’s door open. Once the shuttle is open, Billy steps forward to go inside.
BILLY
(relieved) “Right. Let’s go in.”
Billy walks up onto the ramp and enters inside the shuttle.
SCENE #82 – INT – SHUTTLE HAWK #49 – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
Once inside the shuttle, Billy makes his way towards the pilot controls. Billy sighs with relief that he’s inside. Moment of silence, as Billy contemplates what to do next.
BILLY
(gradually) “Here’s the helm.” (Pause) “Now, how does it work?”
SCENE #83 – INT – MICROS COMMS STATION #4 – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
On Yondamus IV, Nyssa and Nina are huddled together as they sit together in one corner of the Micros comms station’s control room. The Globtol Ferroca growls fiercely to itself from the other end of the room.
NYSSA
(concerned) “Are you alright now, Nina?”
NINA
“I don’t understand why we’re alive. Though I’m glad God has mercy on us.”
NYSSA
“Yes. One minute that creature was about to attack. The next minute it’s sulking. Like it’s afraid to kill us.”
NINA
“Afraid? Did you see the look of horror on its face?”
Moment of silence.
NYSSA
“Maybe the Globtol Ferroca’s are not as menacing as the Doctor thought. There must be something more to them.”
NINA
“How can there be something more to a monster that looks like a gorilla with sharp fangs with every opportunity to shred us to bits.”
NYSSA
“There’s always the possibility that the Globtol was under some control by its masters. Now it’s broken free it has no idea what it’s doing and sees us as something strange and peculiar.”
NINA
(wryly) “Sorry for making it confused.”
NYSSA
(thinks) “There must be a reason to all this.” (Pause) “I wonder what’s going on in its mind.”
NINA
“Probably wondering whether to eat us or leave us.”
NYSSA
“I’m going to try something.”
Nyssa stands up and slowly advances towards the Globtol Ferroca. Nina stops her.
NINA
(agitated) “What are you doing?”
NYSSA
“I’m going to try and communicate with it.”
NINA
“Communicate?”
NYSSA
“It may need help.”
NINA
“Help? It’s you that needs help. That creature will kill you.”
NYSSA
“I’m not sure about that.”
NINA
“Nyssa, I don’t have any medical kit with me. I can’t tend to any wounds you may get.”
NYSSA
“Don’t worry, Nina. I’ll be alright.”
Eventually but reluctantly, Nina lets Nyssa go. Plucking up courage, Nyssa advances towards the Globtol. As she approaches the creature, the Globtol retreats slightly into the shadows to avoid Nyssa.
NYSSA
(reassuringly) “It’s alright. I’m not going to hurt you.”
But the Globtol snarls fiercely to scare Nyssa off. Nyssa is startled for a moment before she restrains herself.
NINA
“Get back, Nyssa. You can see it’s vicious.”
Nyssa however steps closer to the Globtol.
NYSSA
“I see you’re in pain. We can help.” (Pause) “Please trust me.”
She eventually manages to touch the Globtol gently with her hand. The creature responds with a nervous growl but eventually calming down, comforted by Nyssa’s touch of her hand.
NYSSA
“There. That’s right.” (to Nina) “It’s alright, Nina. You can come over now.”
NINA
“Are you sure?”
NYSSA
“Yes. It won’t hurt us.”
Reluctantly, Nina stands up and joins Nyssa to see Globtol Ferroca. The creature reacts to Nina suspiciously, as it gives a low growl.
NINA
“Nyssa?”
NYSSA
(to Globtol) “It’s alright. This is Nina. She won’t hurt you. She’s a doctor.”
NINA
“A very good doctor for my reputation, I hope.”
NYSSA
(to Globtol) “I’m Nyssa. We’re friends.”
The Globtol quietly growls, as it warms to Nyssa’s words.
NYSSA
(curiously) “Can you understand us?”
But it’s unclear whether the creature can understand them. It gives a low purr as Nyssa touches the creature.
NINA
(relieved) “You seem to have handled this well, Nyssa.”
NYSSA
“I’m not sure what I’ve done.” (Pause) “Oh I wish the Doctor and Billy were here.”
NINA
(chuckles) “These two blokes you mentioned. They sound really good the way you talk about them.”
NYSSA
“The Doctor’s always special. He’s been there whenever I need help. He always make sure I’m safe and encourages me to fend for myself.”
NINA
“And the other guy? Billy?”
NYSSA
“I haven’t known him long. But he’s special too. I like him. He’s sweet and has a good heart.”
NINA
“Does he hold a torch for you then?”
NYSSA
“I wouldn’t raise my hopes on that.” (Pause) “But I think he likes me. I would like to see him again.”
Eventually, the Globtol slumps down to the floor as it goes to sleep. The Globtol snores away.
NYSSA
“The creature’s sleeping. Maybe we won’t have to worry about him anymore.”
NINA
“No. Just got to worry about those Dwaxi and Dalek things.”
Moment of silence, as Nyssa and Nina contemplate what to do next.
SCENE #84 – INT – CARGO BAY #1, MOONRAKER – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
Meanwhile, in the cargo bay #1 of the Moonraker, Patrol Dalek #1 address the Agent Dalek.
PATROL DALEK #1
“DALEK PATROL SHIP HAS DETECTED MOTHERSHIP APPROACHING AT WARP SEVEN POINT EIGHT. IT WILL RENDEZVOUS WITH US IN ONE POINT FIVE RELS.”
AGENT DALEK
“UNDERSTOOD.” (Pause) “REPORT OF THE HUMAN BOY?”
PATROL DALEK #1
“HE HAS BEEN LOCATED IN THE SHUTTLE BAY, DECK SEVEN.”
AGENT DALEK
“PATROL DALEKS MUST INTERCEPT. ADVISE ALL UNITS.”
PATROL DALEK #1
“WILL THE BOY BE TAKEN ALIVE?”
AGENT DALEK
“NO. HE MUST BE DESTROYED. ANNIHILATED!”
As the Daleks talk, the Doctor confers with Captain Sulley; Elaine; Colin and Gavin in low voices.
ELAINE
“Did you hear that, Doctor?”
DOCTOR
“Yes. I must warn Billy.”
COLIN
(coldly) “Why bother? That boy’s better off dead like the girl!”
ELAINE
“Shut up, Colin!”
COLIN
(bitterly) “Why should I? It’s better to be killed sooner by a Dalek and not be killed at all!”
CAPTAIN
(quietly) “That’s enough, Mr. Wilson. I won’t have you being insubordinate!”
DOCTOR
(determined) “Is there a way of communicating with Billy without being seen?”
COLIN
“You saw them take our communications. There’s no chance.”
GAVIN
(interjects) “I’ve got my miniature ear-piece.”
DOCTOR
“What is that?”
ELAINE
(thrilled) “You finished the gadget you were making, Gavin?”
GAVIN
(to Doctor) “It’s a little project I’ve been developing with a species called the Xonxi. They were developing some kind of telepathic ability which can be used for non-empathic beings like they were. I said I could help them with developing this nifty since I had an interest in the sort of thing.”
DOCTOR
“And you developed the ear-piece?”
GAVIN
“Up until now I haven’t been able to test it.”
CAPTAIN
“Well now’s a good time, Mr. Frakes.”
DOCTOR
“I quite agree. Gavin, may I use [that]…?”
CAPTAIN
(interrupts) “Excuse me, Doctor. If anyone’s going to use Mr. Frakes’ contraption it’s me. I have to inform Earth Command…”
DOCTOR
(interjects) “Captain, there’s no time for this. My friend’s in trouble and I have to help him…”
CAPTAIN
“We’ll sort out your friend at another time. The security of Earth is my responsibility…”
DOCTOR
“I won’t dispute that but you can’t…”
COLIN
(agitated) “Don’t you go against the Captain, Doctor. All of this has happened because of you!”
ELAINE
“Stop it, Colin.” (to Captain) “Captain, you can’t condemn a young man to death. The Daleks will soon reach him.”
Moment of silence, as the Captain considers this.
CAPTAIN
(reluctantly) “Very well.” (to Gavin) “Mr. Frakes, let the Doctor use your device.”
COLIN
(protests) “Captain…”
CAPTAIN
(agitated) “I said let him use it!”
GAVIN
“Yes, sir.”
DOCTOR
“Thank you, Captain. I’m really grateful.”
Gavin steps forward to help the Doctor on how to use the ear-piece.
CAPTAIN
(coldly) “I still don’t trust you, Doctor. But I don’t wish to have anyone die for the sake of the Daleks.”
DOCTOR
“That’s what I mean. Thank you.”
SCENE #85 – INT – SHUTTLE HAWK #49 – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
Meanwhile, Billy is inside Shuttle Hawk #49, unsure of what to do and how to fly the shuttle out of the shuttle bay. As Billy ponders on this, a cracking noise emits from the pilot control panel.
BILLY
(startled; puzzled) “Hello? What’s that then?”
Billy goes to the control panel at the helm, as he tries to find where the sound’s coming from. He then finds the intercom section.
BILLY
“It sounds like a…a radio.” (Pause) “I wonder if this is the volume.”
Billy presses a button, as he tries to gain a higher volume of the transmission he hears. The Doctor’s voice then speaks clearly through the intercom.
DOCTOR (V’O)
“Billy? Billy, this is the Doctor. Can you hear me? Billy?”
Billy quickly presses a button to speak to the Doctor on the intercom.
BILLY
(through intercom; thrilled; cries) “Doctor! Doctor it’s me, Billy! Can you hear me?”
DOCTOR (V’O)
(agitated) “Yes! Very clearly, Billy. There’s no need to go over-the-top!”
BILLY
(through intercom; relieved) “Oh I’m so relieved to hear you!”
DOCTOR (V’O)
“Billy, where are you?”
BILLY
(through intercom) “I’m in one of the shuttles. I was going to try and fly it. But I don’t know how to open the doors.”
DOCTOR (V’O)
“Well, we’ll try and help you. But the Daleks are on their way.”
BILLY
(through intercom) “Oh. Well…how do I open the doors?”
DOCTOR (V’O)
“Gavin will help you.” (off intercom; to Gavin) “Won’t you, Gavin?”
Moment of silence, as Gavin takes over on the intercom.
GAVIN (V’O)
“Billy? This is Gavin.”
BILLY
(through intercom) “Yes, Gavin. I’m listening.”
GAVIN (V’O)
“What reference number does your shuttle have?”
BILLY
(through intercom; checks) “Err…I don’t know. I know that this shuttle’s called…Hawk Forty-Nine. I don’t if that means anything.”
GAVIN (V’O)
“Yes. Reference number four-nine-E-dash-four-one-two-dash-eight. That means you’re in shuttle silo three.”
BILLY
(through intercom; wryly) “Oh that’s helpful.”
DOCTOR (V’O)
“Billy, please pay attention! Your life depends on this.”
GAVIN (V’O)
(interjects) “You need to decompress the shuttle bay doors before you go out.”
BILLY
(through intercom; gradually) “Well how do I do that?”
GAVIN (V’O)
“Press the ‘decompress’ button where you are.”
BILLY
(through intercom; gradually) “What ‘decompress’ button?”
DOCTOR (V’O)
“The one on the control panel, Billy. It should be there where you are.”
It takes eight seconds for Billy to look for and find the ‘decompress’ button.
BILLY
(through intercom; relieved) “Oh I see it now, yes. I press this green-coloured button called ‘decompress’.
DOCTOR (V’O)
“Yes. Have you shut the shuttle door, Billy?”
BILLY
(through intercom; checks) “No.”
DOCTOR (V’O)
“Well shut them! You don’t want to get sucked out!”
Billy quickly makes his way back to shut the shuttle door. Before he presses the button, the Daleks enter the shuttle bay through the doors from the corridor.
BILLY
(realises) “Oh no!”
DOCTOR (V’O)
“What is it, Billy? What is it?!”
The doors of the shuttle bay slide close, once the Daleks are inside.
PATROL DALEK #2
“SURRENDER! SURRENDER! STEP OUT OF THE SHUTTLE.”
Billy sees the Daleks approach.
BILLY
(cries; to intercom) “Daleks, Doctor! The Daleks are coming!”
DOCTOR (V’O)
“Billy, quick! Shut the door to your shuttle!”
BILLY
(determined; cries; to intercom) “Right.”
Billy presses the button. The shuttle door rise up to close shut.
PATROL DALEK #2
(cries) “STOP! STOP! STOP!”
The Daleks open fire. But the Daleks are too late, as the shuttle door close shut, preventing them from getting in.
BILLY
(frantically; out loud; to himself) “Right. What do I do now?”
DOCTOR (V’O)
“Press the ‘decompress’ button you just found, Billy.”
Billy quickly goes to the control panel and presses the ‘decompress’ button. From outside, an alarm goes off as the shuttle bay doors start to lower and open. Billy speaks into the intercom again.
BILLY
(through intercom; cheers) “Doctor! It’s working! The doors are opening.”
DOCTOR (V’O)
“Good! Now…”
GAVIN (V’O)
(interjects) “Initiate the thrusters to start the engines. Then move the shuttle forward at an impulse speed of zero point seven warp mark.”
BILLY
(through intercom) “How do I do that though?”
GAVIN (V’O)
“Press the blue button for the thrusters and the yellow button for the engines. Then enter zero point seven into the nectar-coloured data control for the impulse speed.”
Slightly uncertain, Billy move his hands to the controls as Gavin instructs. Moment of silence.
BILLY
(through intercom; loses confidence) “I don’t think I can do this.”
DOCTOR (V’O)
(encouragingly) “Yes you can! Look, Billy. I understand it’s difficult, but you’ve got to do it.”
Shots of fire pound on the shuttle from outside. This causes the shuttle to shudder. Billy falls out of his seat onto the floor.
DOCTOR (V’O)
(concerned) “What’s happened?” (Pause) “Billy? Are you alright?”
Billy gets back into his seat to speak into the intercom again.
BILLY
(through intercom) “I’m fine. It’s the Daleks, Doctor. They’re firing on the shuttle.”
DOCTOR (V’O)
(panics) “Quick, Billy! Start up the thrusters for the engines!”
Reluctantly but determined, Billy presses the yellow and blue buttons on the control panel to start the thrusters and engines.
SCENE #86 – INT – SHUTTLE BAY, MOONRAKER – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
Outside in the shuttle bay, the shuttle rises up as it begins to take off. The Daleks see the shuttle take off.
PATROL DALEK #2
“EARTH VESSEL ESCAPING. THE HUMAN MUST BE DESTROYED! DESTROY! DESTROY!”
The Daleks take aim and fire at the shuttle with their ray guns. The shuttle however manages to escape and zooms out into space. The Daleks keep on firing before stopping to see the shuttle out of their reach.
SCENE #87 – INT – CARGO BAY #1, MOONRAKER – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
The Doctor and Gavin keep listening through the ear-piece to find out what’s happening with Billy. Captain Sulley; Elaine and Colin stand nearby.
ELAINE
(worried) “What’s happened? How’s Billy?”
CAPTAIN
“Did he make it?”
The Doctor hushes the Captain and Elaine.
GAVIN
“Doctor! I’m picking up something.”
They listen in, as Billy speaks to the Doctor and Gavin on the ear-piece.
BILLY (V’O)
“Doctor, I did it! I’ve made it into space! I’m actually flying the shuttle! It’s amazing!”
DOCTOR
(joyously) “He did it! Billy did it!”
Elaine cheers with joy. She’s joined by the Doctor; Gavin; Captain Sulley and Colin as they all hug each other.
ELAINE
(joyously) “Oh that’s such a relief!”
DOCTOR
“I didn’t doubt he would do it!”
GAVIN
(through ear-piece; to Billy) “Now, Billy. Take the…”
AGENT DALEK
“STAY WHERE YOU ARE!” (Pause) “YOU HAVE ABUSED THE DALEKS!”
The Doctor; Captain Sulley; Elaine; Colin and Gavin remain still, now miserable, as the Agent Dalek trains its gun on them.
SCENE #88 – INT – MICROS WAREHOUSE #5 – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
Back at the Dwaxi camp on Yondamus IV, Targah; Gabrog and the Blockade gather together to discuss their new objective.
TARGAH
(viciously) “Gabrog!”
GABROG
“Hail Commander!”
TARGAH
“Shut up! The Dwaxi Empire must be victorious! We shall splatter those Daleks to pieces! We shall call for our brothers! We shall call for our soldiers! WE SHALL CALL…FOR REINFORCEMENTS!”
GABROG
“YES! We shall have all the soldiers to batter this universe to bits!”
TARGAH
“Those communication stations on this planet! Have they all been accounted for?”
GABROG
(chuckles) “Twelve out of seventeen stations have been taken!”
TARGAH
“We will use those stations to make contact through the rift!”
Gabrog slams his fist into his other hand.
GABROG
“The Directors shall be impressed with our work!”
BLOCKADE
(yells) “THEY MUST BE! THEY MUST BE IMPRESSED! THEY HAVE NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER!”
Targah punches the Blockade.
TARGAH
(angrily) “Have all the Dwaxi troopers been registered at this camp?”
BLOCKADE
“THEY HAVE!!”
TARGAH
“What? And you didn’t even inform me!”
BLOCKADE
“I DON’T NEED YOU TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO, YOU BOZO!”
TARGAH
“Who do you think you’re talking to?”
The Blockade spits at Targah.
BLOCKADE
“YOU!”
Targah and the Blockade fight each other.
TARGAH
“You backstabbing git! You loud-mouth fake!”
BLOCKADE
(yells) “WHO ARE YOU CALLING A FAKE?!”
GABROG
(shouts) “Commander!” (yells; angrily) “Commander Targah!”
TARGAH
(bitterly) “You stay out of this, Gabrog!”
GABROG
(shouts) “Listen, Targah! If we keep on fighting, we won’t call our brothers! And the Daleks will beat us!”
BLOCKADE
(yells) “NEVER! THOSE TOYS! NEVER!”
Targah and Blockade stop fighting each other. But Targah throws Blockade to the floor. Blockade shrieks out loud angrily.
TARGAH
You Blockade will remind the troopers of what they need to do. What frequency variance they need to use. What message they must send!”
The Blockade gets up from the floor and stands on his feet.
BLOCKADE
(yells) “I’LL DO IT! BUT ONLY FOR THE DWAXI! NOT FOR YOU!”
The Blockade walks off in a huff, as Targah remains with Gabrog. Targah then laughs out loud wildly.
SCENE #89 – INT – MICROS COMMS STATION #4 – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
Meanwhile in the Micros comms station’s control room, Nyssa and Nina sit on the floor with the Globtol Ferroca sleeping and snoring away.
NINA
“Are you hungry, Nyssa?”
NYSSA
“Yes. Are you?”
NINA
“Yeah. I wish I had my crew rations with me from the shuttle.”
NYSSA
“We have to get back to sorting out the communications with the Doctor.”
NINA
“And my starship. I wonder what’s going on with Captain Sulley. He and the others must be having lots of fun.”
NYSSA
“I’m sure whatever connects the Daleks to this, it’s beyond fun.”
The Globtol snorts rather loudly.
NINA
“How long is this bundle of fur going to keep on sleeping?”
NYSSA
“I’m not sure what to make of him. He seems so peaceful. Just a while ago one of them ate a Dalek.”
NINA
“I wonder if this Globtol will do the same to us.”
NYSSA
“If he wanted to eat us Nina, he would have done that already.”
NINA
(thinks) “Yes. Yes you’re quite, Nyssa. It can’t really want to hurt us surely!”
The Globtol suddenly wakes up and rises to its feet. It makes a growl.
NINA
(shudders) “On the other hand.”
Nyssa and Nina watch to see as the Globtol move forward in the direction of the lift.
NINA
“What’s it doing?”
NYSSA
“Something must have upset him.”
The Globtol Ferroca approaches the lift. After a short while, it begins to scratch at the doors.
NINA
(panics) “The lift. He’s scratching the doors. He’s going to break the lift! We’re going to be trapped!”
NYSSA
“Nina, calm down!”
The Globtol then steps back. Suddenly, someone tries to break through the doors. He smashes the door down like a terribly brutal thug.
NINA
“Someone’s breaking in!”
Nyssa and Nina rise to their feet to see who’s breaking through the lift door. Just then, a Dwaxi troopers bursts in through the lift doors. It is the Dwaxi trooper – Jack Kelly – who carries a tornado-charged Dwaxi rifle.
JACK
(chillingly) “Hello, my dears!”
NINA
(gasps) “It’s Jack.”
Moment of silence.
JACK
“What’s the matter? Aren’t you pleased to see me?”
NYSSA
(cries) “Nina! Get down!”
Nyssa and Nina duck down in time, as the Dwaxi Jack fires his a tornado-charged Dwaxi rifle. It chugs and churns out horrible fire power.
JACK
(laughs; horribly) “Come on out, girls! Come out to play!”
Jack laughs wildly, as he keeps on firing with Nyssa and Nina down on the floor.
NINA
(shocked; baffled) “What’s got into him? Why is he behaving like this?”
NYSSA
“He’s a Dwaxi, Nina. Jack has become a Dwaxi trooper.”
NINA
(upset) “He can’t be! He just can’t be!” (calls) “Jack, it’s me Nina!”
But Jack doesn’t listen, as he keeps on firing and laughing out loud wildly. Nina screams, as she ducks down again with Jack firing at her and Nyssa.
NYSSA
“We can’t stay here, Nina. We have to get out of here.”
NINA
“Get out where?”
Suddenly the Globtol joins them. It grunt to indicates for Nyssa and Nina to move.
NINA
“What does that ‘bear’ want?”
The Globtol grunts persistently.
NYSSA
“I think he wants us to follow him.”
NINA
“Follow him? To where?”
NYSSA
“Well let’s find out. Come on!”
NINA
“Nyssa, we can’t just…”
NYSSA
“Come on, Nina.”
Nyssa and Nina follow the Globtol, as they crawl to a corner of the wall. Jack keeps firing his Dwaxi rifle; laughing out loud with havoc.
JACK
(laughs; wildly) “All opposition shall be crushed! ALL OPPOSITION SHALL BE CRUSHED!”
Nyssa and Nina are on their knees as they reach a hole in the corner of the wall. This is where the Globtol came from to get into the communications station. The Globtol grunts to indicate it to Nyssa and Nina.
NYSSA
“Of course. This must have been where he came out of.”
NINA
“Down there? We go down there?”
Nyssa crawls forward, about to go down the chute. But Nina steps in.
NINA
“No wait, Nyssa. If we’re going down there, I’ll go first.”
Nina crawls forward to get into the hole to slide down in.
NYSSA
“Nina be careful.”
NINA
(echoes) “Oh I think it’s alright, Nysssssssssaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!”
Nina’s voice echoes as she goes down the chute. Jack then sees what’s happening.
JACK
(cries) “Oh no, you don’t! You two girls can’t escape!”
The Globtol grunts at Nyssa to go down the chute next.
NYSSA
(to Globtol) “Wait! What about you?”
The Globtol growls insistently, as it pushes Nyssa into the hole. Nyssa manages to get inside the chute to slide down it.
NYSSA
“Alright , alright! There’s no need to pussssssssshhhhhhhhh!!!!!!”
Nyssa’s voice echoes as she goes down the chute. Meanwhile, the Globtol turns to face the Dwaxi Jack.
JACK
(taunts) “Aww! Does cuddly bear want to fight!”
The Globtol roars angrily.
JACK
(yells) “COME ON THEN! LET’S DO IT!”
The Globtol and Jack charge against each other and lock into mortal combat.
SCENE #90 – EXT – MICROS COMMS STATION #4 – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
At the bottom of the chute, Nyssa cries as she bounces before landing on the ground. Once Nyssa’s on the ground, Nina, who arrived before her, helps her up to her feet. They look around to see that they’re at the rear end of the comms station.
NINA
“Are you alright, Nyssa?”
NYSSA
“A little disorientated but yes.” (Pause) “We seem to have ended up back outside the comms station.”
NINA
“At least we escaped. But Jack! What have the Dwaxi done to him?”
NYSSA
(insistently) “Come on, Nina. Let’s get away from here while we can. Before…”
But before they’re about to run, Nyssa and Nina stop in their tracks as Dwaxi rifles get trained on them by Dwaxi troopers surrounding them.
NINA
(finishes) “…before those guys get us!” (wryly) “Great!”
Dwaxi troopers laugh and jeer viciously, as they surround Nyssa and Nina.
DWAXI TROOPER
(mockingly; viciously) “There’s no use, pretty ones! You are our prisoners again!”
NYSSA
(sighs; anxiously) “This really hasn’t been a good day.”
SCENE #91 – INT – SHUTTLE HAWK #49 – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
BILLY
(through intercom) “Doctor? Doctor, are you there?” (Pause; annoyed) “Where is he?”
Inside Shuttle Hawk #49, Billy tries to call the Doctor through the intercom, but doesn’t have much success. He tries again.
BILLY
(through intercom) “Doctor?! Doctor?!”
Still no response. Billy sighs annoyed, as he pilots the shuttle.
BILLY
(sighs) “Great! How am I going to fly this shuttle now?”
Billy then looks out of the right shuttle window and sees something that makes him anxious.
BILLY
(anxiously) “Oh no! Not them again!”
SCENE #92 –EXT – YONDAMUS SPACE – 26TH CENTURY – N/A
The Dalek Patrol Ship traverses through space on impulse speed. It seeks for and pursues Shuttle Hawk #49. The Dalek Patrol Ship looms menacingly as it is about to attack.
SCENE #93 – INT – DALEK PATROL SHIP – 26TH CENTURY – AFTERNOON
On the command deck of the Dalek Patrol Ship…
DALEK PATROL LEADER
“THE FUGITIVE MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO LIVE. NOTHING CAN ESCAPE US! NOTHING CAN RESIST US! THE DOC-TOR’S COMPANION WILL BE…EXTERMINATED! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!”
DALEKS
(chants) “EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
