‘The Ripple Effect’ (Puffin/Audio)

Please feel free to comment on my review.

Daleks and the Plexus with the Seventh Doctor and Ace

This story is by Malorie Blackman and it features the Seventh Doctor and Ace. The book is divided into ten staves. This short story has the nostalgic feeling of ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’ in it.

The Doctor and Ace are trapped inside the TARDIS within the temporal Plexus. But the Doctor finds a way out, only for him and Ace to end up in an alternative reality where the Daleks are peace-loving.

I liked how this story presents the Daleks in an interesting new light as they’re not the psychotic killers that we know and loathe. I also liked the dynamic relationship between the Doctor and Ace.

The audiobook version is read by author Malorie Blackman. I would have liked Sophie Aldred to have read the audiobook version of this story.

‘The Ripple Effect’ rating – 8/10
