‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – Series 13 Summary

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Amid the setbacks that happened in 2020, including the coronavirus crisis, Chris Chibnall made the brave move in having Series 13 – Jodie Whittaker’s third and final season as the Thirteenth Doctor – be a six-part story instead of the usual 10-episode season that occurred in Series 11 and 12 of ‘Doctor Who’.

This was very exciting to check out in 2021, especially as this was the first time a season of a story had been done in the new TV series since ‘The Trial of a Time Lord’ in the classic TV series. ‘Flux’ as a season of a story in the new TV show has a lot going on in it, filled with enjoyable and thrilling things.

It’s also a season that’s not without its flaws. For one thing, there were plenty of characters to contend with, including heroes and villains. Whilst the Sontarans and the Weeping Angels were well-served in their episodes, I feel the Ravagers – Swarm and Azure – suffered in terms of their development.

The season also continues elements that began at the end of Series 12 with the Doctor investigating more about the Division following the Timeless Child reveal. Whilst many fans are against the Timeless Child reveal, I’m glad Chris Chibnall got to continue and develop it in this six-episode season.

It’s also good that Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor and Mandip Gill as Yaz were joined by John Bishop as Dan for this season. The Thirteenth Doctor, Yaz and Dan team-up worked just as well as the Thirteenth Doctor, Graham, Ryan and Yaz team-up in the first two seasons of the Jodie Whittaker era. 🙂

‘Flux’/Series 13 of ‘Doctor Who’ is a season I look back on with fond memories when I recollect checking it out back in 2021. There’s no denying the season has flaws, but the flaws generated the experience of enjoying it to the fullest, as I wanted to check out what each instalment would be like.

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
