Hello everyone! 🙂
Yesterday, my parents and I saw ‘The Glenn Miller Orchestra’ at St David’s Hall in Cardiff! I enjoyed the concert very much as I love the music of Glenn Miller! The concert was directed by Ray McVay and there was plenty of music to enjoy that was both Glenn Miller and sometimes not Glenn Miller.
It was a relaxing evening and I enjoyed a number of items by Glenn Miller’s orchestra from seeing the movies and listening to the CDs. There was ‘Moonlight Serenade’, ‘Little Brown Jug’, ‘String of Pearls’, ‘I Got A Gal In Kalamazoo’, ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo’,‘Pennsylvania 6-5000’, ‘American Patrol’ and ‘Tuxedo Junction’.
My favourite number from the evening was of course ‘In the Mood’! This was performed towards the end of the concert. As well as Glenn Miller’s music, there were also numbers like ‘My Favourite Things’ from ‘The Sound of Music’ and there was also ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’ by Frank Sinatra.
The guest vocalists included Catherine Sykes, who I’d seen at the previous Tony Jacobs weekends in April and October this year. Catherine sang songs with the Moonlight Serenaders and there was also Mark Porter who was very good singing ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo’ and ‘I’ve Got A Gal In Kalamazoo’.
There was also the Swing Time Jivers dance group who I’d seen before this year at the ‘30th Festival of Jazz, Swing and Cabaret’ in April this year! It was fun to see them dancing at the concert and they also danced to ‘In the Mood’ at the end of the concert. I also danced to ‘In the Mood’! 😀
‘The Glenn Miller Orchestra’ concert was a good evening overall and I found myself relaxed and enjoying the music! I was expecting it to be all Glenn Miller music, but it was nice to hear some music that wasn’t all by him and have them performed by ‘The Glenn Miller Orchestra’!
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!

Thanks Simon!
It was a great evening last Friday and the musicians and performers were good during the concert. And of course it’s Glenn Miller which I love! I was so pleased when ‘Moonlight Serenade’ and ‘In The Mood’ was performed in ‘The Empty Child’/’The Doctor Dances’!
