‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Marco Polo’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The First Doctor TARDIS team takes a venture in history in this seven-part ‘Doctor Who’ adventure where they meet Marco Polo in 1289. Sadly, ‘Marco Polo’ doesn’t exist as a TV story, as all the episodes have been wiped from the BBC Archives. Thankfully, the story can be enjoyed on audio CD or vinyl or as a download from Audible.

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my current review for ‘Marco Polo’.

Enjoy!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂

I watched Loose Cannon’s Marco Polo. (That is how I watched all the lost episodes that have not been animated. Of course, if it is subsequently animated I then watch those. 😀) Even if Loose Cannon isn’t your think however, you must seek out and watch the In-character intro and outtro they filmed with Mark Eden. It, as well as William Russell’s in-character links for The Crusades are 100% Canon in my book.

      Hi Zack,

Thanks for letting me know about the Loose Cannon ‘Doctor Who’ reconstructions. I had no idea these existed. I’ve checked out what the first episode of ‘Marco Polo’ by Loose Cannon is like as well as Mark Eden’s intros on YouTube and DailyMotion. I look forward to checking out more later on.

      Many thanks,

      Tim 🙂

Loose Cannon’s recreations are actually MUCH better then the ones on the BBC DVDs 📀. Sometimes, like The Evil of the Daleks, they actually used CGI in some scenes.😀 In Marco Polo they used full color photographs taken on the set as their template and is incredibly beautiful 😍.

        Hi Zack,

The colour photos of ‘Marco Polo’ are beautiful. I’ve revisited ‘The Edge of Destruction’ today. I hope to revisit ‘Marco Polo’ either today or tomorrow.

        Hi Zack,

Having rewatched it recently, there are things about ‘The Edge of Destruction’ that don’t make sense, especially when the TARDIS regulars seem to go crazy in the first episode. But I still enjoy the two-parter and how it enhances the relationship between the First Doctor, Ian, Barbara and Susan by this point. Like you said, a very underrated ‘Doctor Who’ story.

        Many thanks,

        Tim 🙂
