‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Army of Ghosts’/’Doomsday’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here we are on the two-part finale in Series 2 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series – David Tennant’s first season as the Tenth Doctor. This ‘Doctor Who’ story called ‘Army of Ghosts’/’Doomsday’ by Russell T. Davies features the last regular appearance of Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, along with Camille Coduri as Jackie, Rose’s mum; Noel Clarke as Mickey, Rose’s former boyfriend, and Shaun Dingwall as Pete, Rose’s dad. This ‘Doctor Who’ story is a pretty emotional season finale, and it also features the return of two popular ‘Doctor Who’ monsters battling each other, including the Cybermen and the Daleks. There’s also the introduction of the Torchwood Institute, led by Tracy-Ann Oberman as Yvonne Hartman. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure also features Freema Agyeman, who appears way before she played Martha Jones in Series 3, as Adeola Oshodi, Martha’s cousin. There’s also a brief appearance of Catherine Tate as Donna Noble at the story’s end. 😀 ‘Army of Ghosts’/’Doomsday’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we are on the first two-part story in the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’, and it’s the story that features the return of the Cybermen in the new TV series. This is ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’ by Tom MacRae, and it’s a pretty compelling story where I got introduced to the Cybermen in 2006 and found them terrifying on my first watch. 😀 In the story, David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, Billie Piper as Rose and Noel Clarke as Mickey end up in a parallel universe. There are parallel universe versions of Rose’s parents – Camille Coduri as Jackie, Rose’s mum and Shaun Dingwall as Pete, Rose’s dad. There’s also Roger Lloyd-Pack as John Lumic – the head of Cybus Industries and the creator of the new Cybermen on parallel Earth. 😮 ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon – ‘Father’s Day’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for an emotional ‘Doctor Who’ episode in the new TV series called ‘Father’s Day’ by Paul Cornell. This was my first discovery of Paul Cornell’s writing in ‘Doctor Who’ before checking out ‘Circular Time’ and ‘Goth Opera’, both featuring the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa. In ‘Father’s Day’, Christopher Eccelston as the Ninth Doctor takes Billie Piper as Rose Tyler back in time to the day where her father, Shaun Dingwall as Pete Tyler, died in London in 1987. Rose inadvertently saves her dad’s life, causing the Reapers to be unleashed as they attempt to ‘sterilise the wound’. Does this incident damage the Doctor and Rose’s relationship? Will Pete Tyler learn the truth that Rose is his daughter. ‘Father’s Day’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and BBC iPlayer. Continue reading

CD Review – ‘Rose Tyler: The Dimension Cannon’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve reviewed ‘Rose Tyler: The Dimension Cannon’, the audio spin-off from new series ‘Doctor Who’ by Big Finish. It stars Billie Piper, Camille Coduri, Shaun Dingwall and Mark Benton. I’ve enjoyed this four-episode spin-off series. It was superb to hear Rose Tyler again along with Jackie, Pete and Clive. Continue reading

And here we are on the explosive season finale of Series 2 of ‘Doctor Who’! It’s Daleks and Cybermen galore in this one as the Battle of Canary Wharf takes place within the Torchwood Institute. ‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is what I call the highlight of Series 2 of ‘Doctor Who’. This two-part story by Tom MacRae features the first appearance of the Cybermen in the new series. But these are Cybermen in a parallel universe as the Doctor, Rose and Mickey are about to discover once they tackle the menace of Cybus Industries. Continue reading

‘Doctor Who’ Marathon – ‘Father’s Day’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This is the episode where we get to meet Rose’s dad, Shaun Dingwall as Pete Tyler. It’s time to travel back in time where Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose meet Pete Tyler on the day that he died. This is an emotional episode where Rose learns the consequences of time-travel. Continue reading

Celebrating 55 Years of ‘Doctor Who’ #10

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Let’s celebrate the Tenth Doctor era for the 55th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’! This is another one of my favourite eras of ‘Doctor Who’ as well as the Peter Davison era. The Russell T. Davies/David Tennant era of ‘Doctor Who’ was a magical period for me and it made me happy as a ‘Doctor Who’ fan overall. Continue reading

Series 1 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Christopher Eccleston

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Over Christmas last year, I received an extra present from my parents. It was the Blu-ray edition of Series 1 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler. This was exciting for me, as I was getting into using more of Blu-ray as well as DVDs in general. Continue reading
